Chapter 17: Confused American Officials

In the sparse coniferous forest, a convoy was moving along the only cement road.

A large number of armored vehicles were parked in the parking spaces temporarily cleared in the forest, and many American soldiers armed with live ammunition were stationed in the coniferous forest on guard.

Obviously something happened here and a large number of US troops gathered here, and no one else was allowed to gather.

The convoy paused briefly at a checkpoint on the road, and was only allowed to continue passing after showing their credentials to the American soldiers guarding the checkpoint.

Andrew Morel, who was sitting in the middle car, frowned and stared at the dense forest outside the window, as if waiting for something.

Not long after, a strange situation appeared before our eyes.

The trees were broken in half, looking as if they had been hit by a huge external force.

Next to the broken trees on both sides of the road, many experts were walking back and forth, holding various instruments for testing and recording.

As the convoy continued to move forward, the broken trees became more and more obvious. From time to time, there was a blurry pool of blood, flesh and fiber fragments stuck to a broken tree somewhere.

The next moment, the convoy took a detour on a temporary path next to the road.

It was just because a car appeared on the road where they were originally traveling, a car that was burned to the point where only a gray-black iron shell was left.

There were a lot of thin and deep potholes on the concrete road near the wreckage of the car.

Looking through the car window, Andrew Morrell could easily see that the car was not only burned, but the entire gray-black iron shell was also flattened as if it had encountered a huge force.

Several experts were carefully dismantling the iron shell and digging out several severely carbonized human figures from inside.

Staring at the crushed and burned iron shell, Andrew Morel's eyes became more serious.

The convoy did not stop moving while he began to ponder.

As we continued forward, we soon saw a sign that read "Private estate", which means private estate.

Ahead is the private estate of a certain big entrepreneur. This cement road in the dense forest was funded and built by this big entrepreneur.

According to the intelligence and information obtained by Andrew Morel, this big entrepreneur is secretly a scumbag involved in many illegal activities such as human trafficking in Southeast Asia and the sale of small pills in many places in America.

Because someone in the White Palace protected him, the national security agency to which Andrew Morel belonged had never touched him.

But now, this entrepreneur is afraid...

Andrew Morel narrowed his eyes, thinking of the crushed and burned car he saw on the way here. He was afraid that the entrepreneur was now one of the several human-shaped charred bodies.

As he was thinking, the convoy slowly stopped and arrived at the manor.

Andrew Morel opened the door and got out.

After putting on the mask handed to him by the entourage of the surrounding convoy, he looked around carefully.

Looking at everything in front of him, he couldn't help but take a breath.

A mess! A mess! In addition to a large number of troops and experts from the country walking around here, what Andrew Morrell saw was a ruin.

It's hard to imagine what this place has been through before.

There were collapsed walls everywhere, broken concrete slabs scattered everywhere, and broken and twisted steel bars as if they had been subjected to some huge force before death.

There were traces of RPG bombing and various shell casings everywhere. The smell of gunpowder and blood filled the air.

The ground was covered with body bags on one side, but there were still professionals wearing masks who found some blood and flesh from the ruins, and after doing some data recording and screening, they put them into new body bags.

Andrew was about to take a closer look when a few people came towards him.

The sturdy man walking in front was wearing a U.S. Army uniform, with two silver five-pointed stars on his shoulder straps with a grass-green background.

Andrew recognized this man.

A popular figure in the military, he had won numerous military exploits in many foreign wars at a young age and was not far from further promotion.

Andrew smiled and extended his hand to the major general in front of him.

"People in your organization can recognize anyone they see, right?"

Chris joked with a smile and then shook hands with Andrew.

The agency Andrew works for has almost the highest authority in the United States and can intervene in all aspects of national security.

Chris's words were naturally meant to irritate him.

"It is one of our duties to remember the information of the high-level officials of various countries, not to mention our own major general."

Andrew nodded, ignoring Chris's teasing.

"Then what you saw today may be beyond your job duties. I don't know if you have seen it in Area 51."

Chris said, putting away his smile and his expression became very serious.

Andrew nodded without explaining that there were no aliens in Area 51.

He is now very concerned about the specific information found here.

"The first people to discover the situation here were the police from a nearby town."

Chris said as he handed Andrew a tablet that was playing body camera footage from police officers in a small town near the woods.

The video begins with a police officer patrolling on a motorcycle.

He was walking on this road, and the scene was not much different from what Andrew had seen along the way. Andrew glanced at it at double speed, and it was basically the same as what he had seen along the way.

"Then the situation here was reported to the higher-ups, who ordered me, who was the closest to the area, to lead the troops to seal off the entire area."

Chris said so.

"Tell me what you found."

Andrew handed the tablet to the entourage beside him, and then stared at Chris seriously.

"First of all, most of the bodies found along the way have been identified as people from this manor. However, there are still a small number of bodies that are too bloody and need further identification."

Chris pointed to a pile of body bags in the distance and began to speak.

"The burned car on the road..."

Andrew mentioned suddenly.

"That car is a Bentley Dominator, which is limited edition worldwide. The owner of this manor did have one. Some of the coke in the car was extracted for identification. The results confirmed that it was the owner of the manor and several mercenaries from Europe."

Chris took a few identification documents from his subordinates and handed them directly to Andrew.

Andrew flipped through the documents briefly, then looked at Chris and waited for him to continue his report.

"We conducted a large-scale inspection and survey in the manor and found that a fierce gunfight had taken place here. However, when we did the identification, we found that all the bullets were basically fired by the mercenaries on the manor side. There was no second party involved."

"The bullets were all squeezed and deformed, which is a characteristic of hitting a hard object."

"In addition, there are various small potholes in the manor and on the road. The manor buildings and the dense forest outside have traces of being crushed by a huge force. There are also circular burn marks covering an area of more than ten meters on the ground of the manor."

"Besides these, there are many more traces..."

Chris said as he handed Andrew another stack of documents recording the results of their investigation.

Andrew took the document, and the more he read it, the more he couldn't help frowning.
