Chapter 219: Ringwraiths

“Puff——”

The silver sword light cut the thick black robe and silver chain mail armor in half with unstoppable force.

The spirit hidden in it seemed to be hurt as well, and let out a terrifying scream.

All the creatures that heard the scream fled in terror, but Lin Zhongtian was not affected at all. Instead, he stepped on the body of the Ringwraith and used the force to leap towards the other Ringwraiths.

A silver light flashed, and in an instant it passed by the remaining two Ringwraiths.

The dazzling sword light stirred the air, cutting the black cloaks and silver chain mail on the two Ringwraiths into pieces.

At the same time, Lin Zhongtian landed on the back of the last black flying beast, turned the black sword in his hand upside down, and stabbed it into its head with a "swish".

"roar--"

The ferocious black flying beast let out a shrill scream, and its wings drooped weakly. It drew a parabola like a kite with a broken string and rushed straight towards the cave where Gandalf and Radagast were.

"boom!"

The corpse of the black flying beast rushed into the cave entrance and hit the hard gray-black stone wall in the cave tomb.

Lin Zhongtian leaped up when he was near the cave entrance and landed lightly next to Gandalf and Radagast.

"Nothing more."

As he spoke lightly, Lin Zhongtian shook off the blood on the blade and inserted it into the scabbard on his back.

The four Ringwraiths were cut down by Lin Zhongtian like lambs without any ability to fight back, but after the shock, Gandalf and Radagast did not show the slightest joy on their faces. Instead, they looked worriedly at the two black flying beasts that were flying away in fear in the sky.

"Sir Geralt, I admit that your strength and swordsmanship are impeccable. No one in the mortal world can match you. However, the Ringwraiths cannot be defeated so easily. They are invisible spirits and cannot interact normally with the visible world. Therefore, they need the robes and weapons provided by Sauron to shape their bodies."

"But similarly, only these forms can be destroyed. Their spirits cannot be destroyed. Once their forms are destroyed, their spirits will return to Sauron through the invisible realm. For this reason, the coalition forces of the Second Age buried these Ringwraiths in tombs..."

"There is also this..."

Lin Zhongtian frowned solemnly.

But in fact, he deliberately let the Ringwraith spirit go.

There was no way. Ilúvatar was always watching him, and he was embarrassed to interfere too much in the fate of this world.

"So what are you going to do?"

"..." Gandalf and Radagast exchanged a glance and said in a deep voice, "In this world, there is only one person who can make the nine Ringwraiths obey his orders, and that is their master Sauron. If I am not mistaken, the necromancer who built the 'Mountain of Witchcraft' Dol Guldur in the southwest of Mirkwood should be Sauron in disguise. I plan to gather the members of the White Council to discuss the attack on Dol Guldur."

"Sir Geralt, you have great power and a righteous heart. Are you willing to go with me?"

"It's my duty." Lin Zhongtian nodded slightly and agreed in a steady voice that matched his character.

Elsewhere, the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins and his dwarf companions entered Mirkwood.

Legolas found himself losing his sense of direction due to the erosion of darkness, so he followed them quietly, intending to use them to lead the way for him to leave the forest shrouded by darkness.

But he had no intention of showing up.

Influenced by Legolas' soul, Legolas now has no good feelings towards dwarves.

The dwarves also hated the elves very much because of the Woodland Kingdom's failure to help them when they were in danger.

The two sides dislike each other, so Legolas naturally wants to take advantage of the protagonists.

During this time of traveling, Legolas began to miss the Great Greenwood very much.

At that time, the big green forest was lush and leafy, and the air in the forest was full of the fragrance of leaves and flowers. But now, the dense and twisted treetops block the sky, blocking most of the sunlight. There seems to be no air flowing in the forest, and it is always in a dull and suffocating state.

In such an environment, not to mention the elves and hobbits who love nature, even the dwarves who are used to living underground seem extremely uncomfortable.

At night, whenever Bilbo and his friends tried to make a fire, they would attract thousands of moths. These black or dark green moths were extremely large, almost as big as the dwarves' hands.

As they flew around people, the sound of their flapping wings was eerie.

At times like this, Legolas would unconsciously feel grateful to Lin Zhongtian.

The blue-patterned light armor the other party gave him seemed to have the magical power to drive away living creatures. No birds or beasts dared to approach him, including those desperate fire-flying moths and the giant bats that came out of the nearby caves.

Finally, Bilbo and his companions crossed the magic river with great difficulty.

This is a river originating from the mountains in the north of the Black Forest. Its river channel is not wide, but the flow rate is very fast. The surface of the river is filled with white mist, and the water is a terrifying black color with magical power. Anyone who drinks it will fall into a coma immediately.

Fortunately, Bilbo and others accepted Gandalf's warning and did not drink the black river water because of thirst.

After crossing the Magic River, everyone followed the Magic River to the Forest River, and followed the tributary at the eastern end of the Forest River to the Black Forest Mountains.

Here, they found a cave as expected. This cave was the spider's nest that the Elf Guard of the Woodland Kingdom had been looking for for a long time, and it was home to a large number of giant spiders.

Faced with these short but delicious uninvited guests, the giant spider warmly welcomed them.

The two sides quickly became friends and had a heated exchange.

Soon, the dwarves, who were already exhausted from the long journey, were defeated by the spiders and tied up with spider silk.

Bilbo was the only survivor because he wore the One Ring.

Just when he was about to find an opportunity to rescue his companions, Legolas, who had been hiding, took action.

He pulled the bowstring quickly, and ice arrows emitting cold white air gathered and took shape in the blue light. They then pierced through the air, carrying the whistling airflow and the cold white air and quickly shot the giant spider crawling on the cave spider web.

Occasionally a giant spider would approach, but it would die tragically at the hands of Legolas's sword.

With the blessing of the fused soul, his control over his body became stronger and stronger. Even though he had not left the prison for many years, his skills had not deteriorated.

Soon, all the giant spiders in the cave were killed by Legolas.

Bilbo stared with wide eyes in shock at the handsome elf who suddenly appeared.

After coming to his senses, Bilbo hesitated for a moment, but still took off the ring and appeared before Legolas.

Legolas already knew the plot, and was not frightened by Bilbo who appeared quietly behind him. Instead, he took out the elven dagger from his waist and spoke calmly while cutting the tough spider webs on the dwarves' bodies.

"Hurry up and save your companions and leave here, otherwise the Elf Guard will be here soon!"

This was the main reason why Legolas took action. He had already seen Tauriel and others outside the cave.

Before being discovered by the Elf King Thranduil, Legolas lived as an Elf Prince for three years. During these three years, he personally built the Elf Guard of the Woodland Kingdom into its current form.

Because of this, Legolas is well aware of the code of conduct of the Elf Guard.

If Bilbo and the others were discovered by Tauriel and the elven guards, even with his intervention, these elves would never give up their principles. Instead, they would capture all these uninvited guests who had entered the territory of the Woodland Kingdom and put them in jail.

But once they are thrown into prison, escaping is not as easy as in the original book.

Because Legolas had already upgraded the prison system of the Woodland Kingdom and established many strict rules, even with the help of the ring, it would be difficult for Bilbo to rescue his trapped companions as in the original book.

This is probably just shooting oneself in the foot...

Thinking of this, Legolas couldn't help but sigh in his heart.

At that time, he stood on the side of the Woodland Kingdom and never thought that one day in the future he would help Bilbo, Thorin Oakenshield and others.

But he had no choice but to help now. The inexplicable loss of sense of direction made Legolas vaguely aware of the existence of fate.

As long as he wants to reach Lonely Mountain and complete the test given to him by Her Majesty the Valar, he must act with the protagonist group.

“Crunch—Crunch—”

Regardless of his inner thoughts, Legolas's cutting action did not pause for the slightest.

Seeing this, Bilbo said no more, holding the elven short knife "Sting Sword" in his hand and began to cut the spider silk.

About twenty minutes later, all the dwarves were rescued by Legolas and Bilbo. Many of them were not injected with venom by the spiders and were still conscious and able to move freely.

With their help, Bilbo and Legolas quickly brought everyone out of the cave.

After doing this, Legolas quickly turned back and cleared their tracks and whereabouts.

Just as he was about to clean up the traces of the cave entrance, Legolas suddenly changed his expression and quickly hid in the top of a nearby tree.

Sure enough, Tauriel and the elven guards quickly appeared, holding bows and sharp swords, looking at the spider silk at the entrance of the cave vigilantly, while whispering about how to deal with it.

Looking at the elven guards who were discussing in low voices, Legolas sighed in his heart and turned away quietly.
