Despicable, so despicable!
Nie Changchuan was indignant, but helpless in front of his mentor, he sighed, and his ten-foot golden body continued to shrink under the golden light, and soon turned into a human again.
After collecting the Dharma image, Nie Changchuan stretched out his hand, and the golden-red sky covering the sky suddenly flew back and turned into a cassock that was draped over him.
After doing all this, Nie Changchuan glanced at the three-headed and six-armed Guanyin statue opposite, then turned around, flew to the river bank, and landed in front of the two of them.
"Master, why are you here?"
Nie Changchuan, wearing a cassock and holding a Zen stick, asked with a smile.
Monk Fa Ming glared at him and said angrily, "What do you think?"
"I know you are naturally brave, but I didn't expect you to be so bold that you even dared to draw your sword against the Venerable Guanyin. Do you really think that no one in the Three Realms can control you?"
Monk Fa Ming's forehead was bulging with veins as he glared at Nie Changchuan.
But in fact, he was not so angry. Instead, he secretly said, "What's going on? Tell me quickly!"
Nie Changchuan quickly agreed, and using the method of voice transmission, he told everything that had happened except his true thoughts in the blink of an eye.
After hearing this, Monk Fa Ming's eyelids twitched and he looked at Nie Changchuan with anger in his eyes.
Nie Changchuan laughed awkwardly and quickly transmitted his message: "Master, it's a misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding!"
Monk Fa Ming glared at him and said in the same voice: "It better be a misunderstanding!"
Nie Changchuan patted his chest and assured him solemnly, "Don't worry, it's definitely a misunderstanding. If they don't admit it's a misunderstanding, I can beat them until they admit it."
"You..." Monk Faming was both angry and amused, and could only helplessly transmit his voice, "Shut up quickly, or you will be punished by me to practice silent meditation for ten years when you return to Jinshan Temple!"
Hearing this, Nie Changchuan immediately shut his mouth and said no more.
Monk Fa Ming sighed, turned around and apologized to the monk Hui An beside him. Then he looked up at the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara in the sky, who had already collected her Dharma body and waved her willow branch to take back the Three Lights Divine Water, and bowed respectfully.
"Disciple Fa Ming of Jinshan Temple pays homage to Venerable Guanyin."
"...Elder, please excuse me."
Guanyin Bodhisattva flew down with a jade bottle in her hand and helped Monk Faming up with a friendly face.
Monk Fa Ming looked at the expression of Guanyin Bodhisattva, hesitated for a moment, and said carefully: "Bodhisattva, your bad disciple has always hated evil and was impatient and reckless. He did not distinguish between the two and fought with the Bodhisattva."
"This may seem offensive, but it is not. Please think carefully, Bodhisattva. If I did not have great respect for you, how could I have been so angry when I saw you, and I would have taken action to subdue the demons and protect your reputation?"
At this point, Monk Fa Ming put his hands together, chanted the Buddha's name, and said respectfully: "I hope the Bodhisattva will be magnanimous and not blame me for my sincere desire to protect the Bodhisattva..."
What a sincere heart!
What a furious move!
The corner of Guanyin Bodhisattva's eye twitched, and the look in her eyes as she looked at Monk Faming gradually changed.
This old monk may seem stubborn and rigid, but he is actually a very protective person.
However, compared with Nie Changchuan, Monk Fa Ming is a true Buddhist after all, and is much easier to deal with than the former.
“…It’s okay!”
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara smiled and said softly, "Your Excellency has profound Buddhist knowledge and has already sculpted a golden body. I really admire you. But I wonder where did you get the magical power of the Buddha to manifest the image of a heavenly dragon and the image of Brahma?"
Monk Faming was startled when he heard this, and then asked in confusion: "Does the Bodhisattva not know?"
Guanyin had a bad feeling in her heart and immediately frowned and said, "Please tell me, Elder!"
Monk Fa Ming looked at Guanyin suspiciously, and began to doubt the identity of Guanyin Bodhisattva.
He activated the Buddhist clairvoyance and took a quick look, and discovered that the original appearance of Guanyin Bodhisattva remained unchanged, and the Buddha's light had not faded. It was obviously Guanyin herself.
But if that was true, how could she not know the origin of the martial arts practiced by Xuanzang?
...Could it be that the Buddha did not tell us?
Monk Fa Ming pondered for a moment, then said, "This story began twenty-nine years ago. At that time, due to my background, I was reduced to becoming a monk at Jinshan Temple. When I was five years old, I followed the other disciples in chanting sutras in front of the Buddha. Then the Buddha appeared, and a dragon flew out of the statue, landed on my back, and personally taught me magical skills..."
"Wait!" Guanyin Bodhisattva said solemnly, "Elder, do you mean that 24 years ago, the Buddha appeared in Jinshan Temple?"
Monk Fa Ming nodded and asked doubtfully, "Buddha, is there anything wrong?"
Guanyin Bodhisattva looked at the master and his disciple deeply, pondered for a moment, and said in a deep voice: "Twenty-nine years ago, the year when your disciple was born, a silver light from the sky descended upon our Buddha Pure Land and sealed off Lingshan."
"Since then, for a full twenty-nine years, we have not been able to set foot outside of Lingshan."
"It was not until half a month ago that the silver light suddenly dissipated, and we were able to leave the sacred mountain and return to the human world."
"What?!" Monk Fa Ming was shocked when he heard this and couldn't help but ask, "What the Bodhisattva means is that even the Buddha..."
"Amitabha."
Guanyin Bodhisattva chanted the Buddha's name and did not answer directly, but her attitude was expressed very clearly.
Upon hearing this, Monk Fa Ming and Nie Changchuan couldn't help but look at each other.
The latter frowned and asked in confusion: "If the Buddha was locked in Lingshan back then, who was it that taught me the magical power?"
Monk Fa Ming looked worried and couldn't help but look at his disciple Nie Changchuan.
Guanyin Bodhisattva noticed his look, shook her head and said, "Don't worry, elder. The technique you taught me is indeed the magic technique of our Buddhist sect. There is absolutely no mistake in this matter. It's just that the person who secretly taught me the technique may have ulterior motives and wants to plot against our Western Heaven Buddhism."
"That silver light came strangely and left mysteriously. Even a poor monk like me cannot trace it back."
"If nothing unexpected happens, this matter will be personally handled by me, the Buddha. As for the others..."
Having said this, Guanyin Bodhisattva paused and turned his gaze to Monk Faming.
Monk Faming immediately understood and asked respectfully, "I wonder if the Buddha has any instructions to be given?"
Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled and said, "Although there is no Buddha's will, I do have something to tell you."
Monk Fa Ming said immediately: "Your Excellency, please feel free to speak!"
Guanyin Bodhisattva said leisurely: "Some time ago, outside the city of Chang'an, the Dragon King of Jinghe River violated the Heavenly Law and was beheaded by the human Cao official Wei Yan. Before he died, he appeared in a dream to the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty, begging the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty to save his life. The Emperor of the Tang Dynasty agreed in the dream, but he did not save the Dragon King of Jinghe River."
"So after the death of the Dragon King of Jing River, his headless ghost went to claim his life and dragged the soul of the Tang Emperor into the underworld."
"Fortunately, Judge Cui of the underworld rescued the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty and took him to visit the underworld and return to the human world. Before returning to the human world, the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty was surrounded by ghosts in the City of the Dead. In order to escape, the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty made a promise that after his return to the human world, he would hold a water and land conference in the capital Chang'an and invite eminent monks from all over the world to liberate the souls of the City of the Dead."
"Now, the Water and Land Assembly is being prepared. Jinshan Temple is the orthodox Buddhist sect in the world. If the elder is interested, he can choose a senior monk from the temple to go to Chang'an to participate in the Water and Land Assembly to spread the prestige of our Buddhist sect!"
When saying the last few words, Guanyin Bodhisattva kept glancing at Nie Changchuan, and almost mentioned Xuanzang's name.
Elder Fa Ming also knew what Guanyin Bodhisattva meant. He didn't know about the journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, but he felt that Guanyin Bodhisattva valued Nie Changchuan, and that Nie Changchuan's participation in the Water and Land Assembly in the name of Jinshan Temple to promote the reputation of Buddhism should be a good thing.
So he smiled and said, "In this case, after returning to the mountain, I will discuss with the abbot and will definitely be able to choose a senior monk to attend the meeting."
When talking about the word "eminent monk", Monk Fa Ming emphasized it, obviously hinting at something.
Guanyin understood, nodded with satisfaction, and said, "Good."
Nie Changchuan was very upset, but he did not say anything to resist.
He already has a rough idea of his current level of strength.
There is no doubt that Guanyin Bodhisattva is one of the most powerful beings in the Three Realms. Nie Changchuan can compete with her in magic and even have the upper hand, which shows that he can be regarded as a top figure in the Three Realms.
With such strength at his disposal, as long as he is unwilling to become the one who seeks the scriptures, Guanyin Bodhisattva will definitely not be able to do anything to him.
Thinking of this, Nie Changchuan felt that it should not be a problem to participate in the water and land conference.
After receiving the answer from Monk Fa Ming, Guanyin Bodhisattva was determined and immediately left in a hurry with Mu Zha.
She came here just to meet the destined pilgrim. Now that a great battle had taken place, Guanyin Bodhisattva knew that something strange had happened. She also learned the secret of the "Buddha's apparition" in Jinshan Temple twenty-four years ago, so she hurried back to Lingshan to report to Tathagata.
Looking at the departing figure of Guanyin Bodhisattva, Monk Fa Ming breathed a sigh of relief.
He looked at Nie Changchuan, who had been silent the entire time, and said unhappily, "Well, this matter should have been exposed. Guanyin is compassionate and magnanimous, so he shouldn't bother with you..."
Nie Changchuan rolled his eyes and muttered quietly, "Does she dare to argue with me?"
Monk Faming saw that he was back to his old ways, glared at him and said, "I have been telling you about your reckless nature for many years, but you still haven't improved at all. This time you dared to offend the Buddha, will it be the Buddha's turn next time?"
It’s not impossible…
Nie Changchuan curled his lips and responded in his heart.
Monk Faming coughed and said in a pretentious manner, "You have offended our Buddhist master. I should have punished you to face the wall and reflect on your mistakes, but it just so happens that the current emperor is convening a water and land conference. As the most outstanding disciple of my Jinshan Temple, you should be punished by the master. I will punish you to go to Chang'an!"
