When the United States was falling apart, 23-year-old Shi Ming was still unaware of it. He and many of his compatriots were detained in a detention camp for Ming Americans in the Nevada desert. The camp was originally a dilapidated military camp, and later some tents were randomly built and two circles of barbed wire were surrounded outside. The wind blew here every day, and the sand brought by the wind made Shi Ming feel difficult to breathe, but what made him most uncomfortable? It was Boss Lin of the Agreement Hall and his lackeys, who were more vicious than the Americans.
American soldiers might beat them up, but Boss Lin and his men were even more brutal.
"Don't worry, they are rabbits whose tails can't grow long."
Fellow prisoners always comforted me in this way.
But when will it end?
Last time, because he was unwilling to hand over the gold necklace left by his mother, Boss Lin beat him so hard that he couldn't walk for a whole month.
Shi Ming's bed was a mess, with a few books scattered on the military blanket. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he once again looked at Boss Lin and others in the distance. They were still the same as before, with red, blue and white striped armbands on their sleeves and wooden sticks in their hands. Boss Lin also had a dagger on his waist, which was his privilege.
Teacher Ding died under his knife!
"Shi Ming! Shi Ming!" Suddenly, someone came running from outside the tent. It was Qi Guowei.
"All the guards have run away!"
He shouted as he barged into the house.
Shi Ming quickly stood up and asked:
"What? What did you say?"
"All the American soldiers ran away. We didn't see them all morning. Some people said they saw them driving away."
Ji Tiancheng raised his head.
"Have all the American soldiers left?"
"It seems so."
"Why?"
“I think I was scared away.”
"So, it's true? We, we defeated the Americans..."
Ji Tiancheng asked, his voice full of hope.
"I can't say for sure. I just heard that the Americans lost miserably."
In a few minutes, the men who had climbed over the barbed wire had searched the watchtowers and the American soldiers' dormitories. They confirmed that the American soldiers had evacuated all their posts and taken away all their weapons.
These fellow prisoners who had been detained for more than a year immediately started discussing the issue, with the main issue being what to do next.
"Go home! What else are you going to do?"
A young man suggested.
But some people are not very happy.
"Where to go back to? We haven't figured out the situation yet. We don't even know where this place is."
"What if there's still a war going on outside?"
"If we don't get out, we'll be shot to death."
"What if the American soldiers are just testing us?"
"What's the point of trying this? They've all run away."
The Americans ran away!
How is this possible!
Boss Lin looked at the empty American military dormitory nervously, and said to his henchman beside him.
"Boss, what do we do now?"
"Hurry, we have to leave quickly. Without the Americans, those people will definitely not let us go!"
But he couldn't leave empty-handed. Boss Lin had looted a lot of gold, silver and treasures in the concentration camp. As long as he had those things, he would live a good life there.
Just as Boss Lin was leading his men back to the tent to get something, someone at the edge of the concentration camp was shouting loudly.
"Look, there are cars, a convoy coming..."
When Boss Lin heard this, he immediately came to his senses and shouted loudly.
"Haha, you idiots, the Americans haven't left yet, hurry up and stand still to welcome the American soldiers!"
What does it mean to be a bully who relies on the power of others? This is clearly demonstrated in Boss Lin.
Under the tyranny of Boss Lin, people quickly lined up. Disappointed people looked toward the west where the cars were coming. They saw a small cloud of moving dust rising in the distance, and several cars were coming towards them.
"Which country's flag is this?"
Shi Ming asked with some anticipation.
Everyone turned their eyes towards the car, but the pattern of the flag was lost in the dust.
"The Star-Spangled Banner?"
"No, you're stupid, it's obviously red."
"You're seeing things, aren't you? It's definitely the Star-Spangled Banner."
As the car got closer, time seemed to slow down, and a distance of only one or two miles seemed to be more than ten miles long. Some people even suspected that they were hallucinating. They were both excited and afraid. They hoped to see the imperial army, but were afraid that it was Americans.
"Did you see the flag clearly?"
"Not yet."
"Why are your eyesight so bad?"
"You have a good eye!"
"Okay, okay, I tell you, it must be American!"
Boss Lin said proudly.
"Even if the Americans lose, they won't lose so quickly!"
A few minutes later, the convoy was close enough to make out the pattern of the flags. Suddenly, someone shouted excitedly.
"It's the Sun and Moon flag of our Ming Dynasty."
"And the Empire's Suzaku Flag..."
How is this possible!
While Boss Lin was looking at the approaching convoy with a pale face, people had already cheered and greeted them. The leading car stopped and a young man with firm steps got out. He was wearing the yellow-green uniform of the Imperial Army. Then some Imperial soldiers jumped out of the car.
People gathered around them and asked anxiously.
"Master, what's the situation outside now?"
He did not rush to answer, but bowed first, and then said with tears in his eyes:
"You probably didn't recognize me. I am Shi Siming. Last year in the detention camp, they forced me to join the U.S. Army. Then I escaped on the battlefield and joined the Imperial Army. Now I am a non-commissioned officer in the Imperial Army. I came here on the orders of my superiors to rescue you and bring you the good news."
"Ah, isn't this the boss of the Shi family? You, you are really back!"
Someone recognized him and shouted excitedly.
"Brother Shi, Brother Shi, your son is back."
"What's the situation outside?" someone asked loudly.
He smiled at them with great delight, and then he loudly announced:
“We won!”
"Victory of what?"
"This morning the Nevada government declared independence."
He added,
"Now many states have declared independence. There is no longer any United States of America. This place will be called the Republic of Nevada. We have won the war."
"All right, uncles and gentlemen. The bus is on the way and will take you to a safe place soon. You are free! His Majesty the Emperor has personally inquired about your situation and has arranged new homes for you..."
As soon as he finished speaking, someone shouted loudly.
"Long live the Ming Empire!"
People all instinctively followed suit and shouted:
"Long live the Ming Empire!"
Amid the cheers, Shi Siming seemed to remember something, his face turned stern, and he asked loudly.
"Are the man surnamed Lin and his lackeys still here at the Agreement Hall?"
The reason he came here was to seek revenge for Teacher Ding and his compatriots.
"Yes, yes! Just now I was..."
