Wu Changyun and Fushun ate as much as they wanted, while Zhou Huiting only ate food that she thought was clean and did not drink alcohol.
"Hey, do you think it's very easy for people who graduate from this university to find a job?" Fushun asked Wu Changyun.
"Everyone says that, but the reality is that it's not easy to find one." Zhou Huiting no longer felt sleepy when she heard about this. Her family only advised her to work hard, but she couldn't complain to outsiders. Since returning to her hometown in Hong Kong, Zhou Huiting has been living a very depressed life.
"Let's chat while everyone is free." Wu Changyun thought about it and still didn't pour wine for Zhou Huiting.
"Then let me tell you about my first interview."
Wu Changyun is no longer surprised by such topics. When he first entered the extras circle, he suffered much more than Zhou Huiting.
After three rounds of drinks, Zhao Huiting finally took advantage of the alcohol to talk about Liu Xiao. She mentioned that Liu Xiao touched her thigh when they met before and said some inappropriate things.
"What? He touched your leg?"
"Well, that's why I came to advise you. He not only has problems with his skills, but also his character." Zhou Huiting nodded with a red face.
"Damn, what kind of person is this?" Fushun couldn't hold it in anymore when he heard this. He slammed the table and acted like a man who hated evil.
"How did you touch it?" Wu Changyun made a grabbing gesture.
"No, he just rubbed me with the back of his hand, and then I dodged. If I hadn't dodged in time, he would have caught me."
"That's okay, that's okay." Fushun breathed a sigh of relief.
"I didn't expect this guy to have such a problem with his character." Wu Changyun took a sip of his wine. Thinking back to the day they met, he'd only thought Director Liu was a bit frivolous, but now that he remembered him, he seemed even more shifty. A school for the children of wealthy officials, populated by students with ulterior motives, couldn't possibly produce any good directors. This idiot had truly let him down.
Wu Changyun didn't dare to think about it. It was almost possible to change the director. If he agreed, he would most likely meet a very unprofessional director.
The three of them ate and drank for two or three hours. The iron skewers were scattered all over the floor and the wine bottles were tilted all over the place. Wu Changyun helped Zhou Huiting to the car and then sent Fushun back to the room.
He thought a lot that night. It was definitely not a good idea to continue to leave Zhuyouzai alone, but wouldn't this be a self-defeating move? After much thought, Wu Changyun still felt that this was an opportunity. If it were a normal film company, it would be fine. Even if Lei Luo was only successful for a little over a year, and then the Independent Commission Against Corruption was established, Lei Luo would flee. But this year or so was enough for him to meet many people.
"Damn it, let's fight."
The next day, Wu Changyun called Zhu Rouzai and gave him a positive answer.
"Okay, I'll pick you up at three in the afternoon." Zhuyouzai was busy with the work at hand. He answered hurriedly and hung up the phone.
Wu Changyun waited at the martial arts studio until three o'clock, and finally Zhuyouzai drove over in a black car, picked him up, and took him straight to where the crew was.
"Brother Zai, do you think making money or the process of making a movie is more important?" Wu Changyun felt a little uneasy.
"Of course movies are made to make money. How can you make movies without money?" Zhuyouzai smiled.
Ever since Wu Changyun agreed, he'd felt like he was working for Zhu Youzai. Their relationship evolved from a casual acquaintance to a financially-motivated superior-subordinate relationship. To make the film a success, he needed Zhu Youzai's support. But this was only temporary. He was no less knowledgeable or courageous than Zhu Youzai; he simply hadn't encountered the down-and-out Lei Luo.
After arriving at the set, Liu Xiao was already waiting there, looking fawning.
"Let's go in and take a look." Zhuyouzai carried his signature handbag and walked towards the rented venue.
The rented location was a rather retro street that looked like something out of a martial arts film. Wu Changyun thought that he had agreed to the role without even reading the script. This was truly outrageous. But if Wu Changyun didn't have the experience of his previous life, he could have just found a random extra or stunt double from the martial arts industry to act in the film, and even made it the lead role. He wouldn't care about the script as long as he was paid.
Liu Xiao asked his assistant to hand the script to Zhuyouzai. After reading it over and over again, he found that the densely packed small characters were really hard to read. Zhuyouzai handed the script to Wu Changyun, realizing clearly in his heart that he was not cut out for this line of work.
Wu Changyun took the script and read it carefully from beginning to end. To be honest, if he had not been concerned about Liu Xiao's reputation as a director, Wu Changyun would have thrown the script into the pool long ago.
"What bullshit, it's nonsense, it's really just to fool people." Wu Changyun pinched his eyebrows, but he had no reputation. This Liu Xiao didn't take his debut seriously at all, but was getting along well with the producer's idiot.
By this time, Zhuyouzai and Liu Xiao had already walked some distance away. Wu Changyun pondered for a moment. He wasn't sure if the venue had been decided, but it looked like it was almost ready. Costumes, props, and extras—all of this stuff would easily cost hundreds of thousands or millions. To make a bad movie with such a huge budget would be a disaster for him, wouldn't it? Although he had been mentally prepared, he didn't expect the present world to still give him a heavy slap in the face.
What should I do now? It's really like I can't go forward or retreat.
"Chang Yun? What's wrong?" Zhuyouzai called out from a distance.
"It's okay, I'm coming." Wu Changyun didn't say anything more and followed him.
The day passed like this. Before leaving, Wu Changyun asked for a copy of the script, or rather, snatched one from him. When Liu Xiao collected the script, Wu Changyun refused to give it to him. Wu Changyun had a clearer idea. Since the other party hadn't considered him and was clearly trying to rip him off, there was no point in pursuing harmonious coexistence. If he didn't want his debut to flop, Wu Changyun and Liu Xiao would have to be a two-timing relationship.
