Chapter 41 A Star-Studded Dinner

"Okay, you've been overthinking it. Go back and have some rest."

Wu Changyun put his hand on Takigawa Yumi's shoulder. She raised her head and stared at Wu Changyun blankly for a moment. No one knew what she was thinking. She kept looking back at Wu Changyun as he left.

Wu Changyun frowned and looked at his rough palms. This shouldn't be a big deal.

That evening, Yuan Aijia was arranging dinner with everyone. Wu Changyun arrived at the appointed location. He was greeted by a two-story, medieval-style villa. Two white chimneys jutted from the sloping blue eaves. A corridor beneath the doorway led to the first-floor living room. The entire first floor was almost entirely open, consisting of several discrete walls and an arched glass door. The interior decoration could be described as magnificent. A circular corridor in the center connected to the second floor. The building itself was quite tall, and the room specifications here were very different from Wu Changyun's villa in Mount Dogali.

"It's really an eye-opener."

This was the first time Wu Changyun saw a real luxury house in Hong Kong. The location of this house was also quite special. It was rumored that the previous owner was a British.

"Hey, long time no see."

The person who came to greet us was Sammo Hung, and his clothes were becoming more and more fashionable.

"Why are you here?"

"I've been invited to attend, and I'd like to introduce two people to you."

Sammo Hung made way, and standing next to him were Sam Hui and Lo Wei. Sam Hui had just switched to Golden Harvest this year, while Lo Wei had already established his position in Golden Harvest with works such as "Fist of Fury" and "The Big Boss".

"Hello, two directors."

Wu Changyun also likes the films of these two directors, especially Xu Guanwen's unique style, which brings joy to many audiences even in the 21st century.

"You're welcome, Director Wu."

"Oh wow, so many stars gathered today." Wu Siyuan came over clapping his hands. The three of them had some connections. After all, they all started from Shaw Brothers. Wu Siyuan's Siyuan Pictures just took shape this year, and it was also the production company of "Drunken Master" and "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow".

"Speaking of which, it's been a while since I last saw your junior brother."

"He's here today too, Yuanlou!" Sammo Hung greeted, and Chan Kong-sang walked out from the porch wearing a red sweater with his signature smile.

"I said I couldn't find you anywhere. Who is this?" Chan Kong-sang pointed at Sammo Hung and said.

"Haven't you always wanted to meet the new director Wu Changyun?"

"Hello, Chen Gangsheng." Chen Gangsheng took the initiative to extend his hand and shake hands with Wu Changyun.

Chen Gangsheng is Jackie Chan's real name. This handshake gave Wu Changyun an illusion that the person standing in front of him could represent Hong Kong action movies.

In 1974, the overall environment of the martial arts industry began to decline. The death of Bruce Lee cast a shadow over Hong Kong film companies. After all, no one could guarantee the future direction of action movies, and a large number of martial artists were laid off.

Later, Wu Siyuan became Chen Gangsheng's mentor. Now both of them are present, but no one except Wu Changyun can predict what will happen next.

The three people who came from the martial arts industry were more friendly with each other. Before they could even talk for a few words, Wu Changyun was sandwiched between Sammo Hung and Chan Kong-sang.

"We used to perform Peking Opera, and our teacher asked us to make movies, so we went and filmed some films." Chan Kong-sheng spread his hands. The roles he had filmed before were all insignificant, and some also included stand-ins.

"Aren't you going to Macau? Have you decided what to do?" asked Sammo Hung.

"I have a friend doing business over there."

"Macau?" Wu Changyun's heart skipped a beat. It was 1976 when Chen Gangsheng left and came back. He didn't know whether these two years were good or bad for Chen Gangsheng.

Wu Changyun also followed Sammo Hung, and the three of them walked towards Yuan Yang'an, the central figure of today's meeting. Yuan Yang'an, who was nearly 70 years old, looked in good spirits. He wore a neat suit and chatted with the people around him about his family and friends. Those who could talk to Yuan Yang'an were more or less related to their family.

Those present included major directors and actors from Golden Harvest, as well as some well-known figures in the industry like Wu Siyuan. No one from Shaw Brothers showed up, as Shaw Brothers had been heavily poached by Golden Harvest recently.

"you?"

Yuan Yang'an suddenly pointed at Wu Changyun, making the three of them a little nervous. Then the old man burst into laughter, leaving the three of them confused.

"Okay, Grandpa, don't scare the guests."

Yuan Aijia stood out from behind Yuan Yangan. When she suddenly saw Wu Changyun and two strangers walking towards them, she expected that her grandfather was going to make fun of her, so she hid behind him.

"So you are the princess of the Great Wall?" Wu Changyun blurted out.

"What princess from the Great Wall?"

"You're right, she is indeed the youngest princess." Yuan Yang chuckled as he stroked Yuan Aiga's little hand soothingly.

"Okay, go play with your friends." Yuan Yang'an pushed Yuan Aiga and asked her to join the camp of Wu Changyun and the other two.

Then came Lin Zhengying and Cao Renzhi. The two met through Bruce Lee's films. After Bruce Lee's death, Lin Zhengying accepted Sammo Hung's invitation to join the Hung Family Class, and they became very close, which made Wu Changyun's small group even more lively. Wu Changyun also caught a glimpse of someone in the crowd: 19-year-old Lin Qingxia. She had officially debuted last year, but unfortunately, the film she filmed, "Outside the Window," could not be released due to copyright issues.

It was not until he met Lin Qingxia in person that Wu Changyun understood why Hong Kong movies were so fond of beautiful actresses. These beauties, who can't take their eyes off even in real life, were born for the screen.
