This is the fifth month of Liang Erhua and Tang Luozhen's marriage.
Erhua gets up very early every day. He tiptoes out of bed, afraid of waking up Luo Zhen.
Luo Zhen has been feeling lazy these days, always getting out of bed in a daze only at noon.
Erhua had just finished carving a plum blossom when he saw Luo Zhen coming out of the house.
"You must be hungry. I'll bring you some porridge. Wait."
Erhua hurriedly got up and went to the kitchen. He lit a ball of straw on each of the two stoves and slowly heated up the iron pots. He warmed the porridge in one pot and poured vegetable oil into the other pot to fry a poached egg.
Luo Zhen was not fully awake at this moment. He sat at the dinner table in a daze, with his chin supported by one hand, staring at the busy Erhua in a daze.
Since they got married, Erhua has taken better care of Luo Zhen, taking care of her food, clothing, housing and transportation with all his heart, and Luo Zhen's complexion seems to be getting better and better.
"Oh, it's almost noon and Luo Zhen just got up." Aunt Sun brought some long beans from next door and started preparing lunch.
As soon as Aunt Sun entered the door, the aroma of fried eggs rushed into her nose, making her saliva water.
"Oh, Erhua really knows how to care for people." Aunt Sun moved a small stool and sat at the door.
Pinch off the tips of the long beans, then cut off the sections one by one. The length of each section depends on personal preference and experience.
Aunt Sun smiled and looked Luo Zhen up and down. She asked, "Luo Zhen, you seem to have gained some weight since you got married, right?"
Luo Zhen felt a little embarrassed. He ate well, but he was becoming more and more lazy. How could he not gain weight?
"Yes, I've gained some weight."
"Oh, why are you fat? This is just right. If you're too thin, you won't be able to have children!"
Aunt Sun was an experienced person after all, and she talked about giving birth all the time without blushing or getting nervous, but this made Luo Zhen blush with embarrassment.
"Come on, eat quickly, don't starve." Erhua brought out breakfast.
The aroma of fried eggs comes from far away, mixed with the fragrance of freshly squeezed vegetable oil, making people can't wait to taste it.
“It smells good…”
Before Aunt Sun could finish her words, Luo Zhen covered her mouth and uttered "Ugh——"
Just then, Tang Sannan came in from outside. Seeing his daughter's appearance, he wondered if she was sick and became nervous.
"Nannan, what's wrong? Are you feeling sick in your stomach?"
"Luo Zhen, what's wrong? I must be feeling sour because I haven't eaten anything."
Erhua quickly put breakfast in front of Luo Zhen, picked up the fried egg with chopsticks and put it to Luo Zhen's mouth.
"Ugh—" Luo Zhen's stomach was churning again and she quickly pushed Erhua's hand away.
The two men looked nervous, which actually amused Aunt Sun who was standing beside them.
"Hahaha, hey, look at you two, you're so nervous, right?"
Erhua saw her laughing so happily and asked in confusion, "Aunt Sun, why are you laughing when Luo Zhen is not feeling well?"
"Oh, this is a great event coming!"
Tang Sannan looked at Aunt Sun's delighted expression, patted his head in confusion, and cried out: "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch, ouch, ouch..."
"Dad, you got hit first, tell me what the good news is!"
"Hahaha, Erhua, you're going to be a father!"
"Boom--" Erhua seemed to be struck by lightning and stood there in a daze. He saw Tang Sannan and Aunt Sun clapping their hands happily, and Luo Zhen's face flushed with shyness, but he could not hear anything.
After a long pause, Erhua squatted down at Luo Zhen's feet, held her hands, and asked hesitantly, "Are you pregnant? Really?"
Luo Zhen didn't understand what was going on, but thinking that what Aunt Sun said must be right, she nodded with a red face.
Erhua usually holds Luo Zhen close to him, but now, he holds her in his hands for fear of dropping her, and holds her in his mouth for fear of melting her. He wishes he could carry her with him wherever he goes.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't move, I'll pour it, I'll pour it!"
Luo Zhen ignored him and continued to slowly pour water from the thermos. Erhua snatched the thermos away and said in a feigned anger, "You, don't do anything. Do you understand?"
"That won't work. I've already gained weight. If I go any lower, I won't be able to face people!" Luo Zhen looked unconvinced.
"How can you be fat? Who said you're fat? That's not true." Erhua picked her up and whispered in her ear, "I like you no matter how fat you are!"
Luo Zhen's mouth was filled with honey and her heart was sealed, so she sweetly shut her mouth and stopped objecting.
But this good mood did not last for a few days.
This morning, Luo Zhen slept until almost noon. She stretched comfortably in bed and was about to turn over, but as soon as she moved, she felt a warm feeling in her lower body.
Luo Zhen was startled and quickly lifted the quilt. The bed sheet with a pink base and red flowers was stained with a large area of red.
"Erhua! Erhua!"
Erhua, who was concentrating on carving, heard Luo Zhen's scream. His hand started to panic, his index finger felt dull pain, and blood immediately gushed out.
He put down the carving knife in his hand, ignored his injuries, and rushed into the room. What caught his eyes was the panicked Luo Zhen and a bright red bloodstain on the bed sheet.
"Erhua, Erhua!" Luo Zhen's eyes were filled with fear, tears streaming down her face unconsciously. "What's wrong with me?"
"It's okay, it's okay, don't be nervous." Erhua suppressed his panic in his heart, hugged her and comforted her, "I heard that this kind of thing is very common. It's nothing, don't be afraid."
Luo Zhen immediately understood and hugged Erhua, crying: "How could it be? You lied..."
"Okay, okay, I lied. Don't worry, I'll go get a tractor right now!"
When we got to the hospital, the doctor asked about the situation and examined me briefly, but there was no expression on his face.
"How many days into your period?"
"Seven days..."
"How does the amount of bleeding compare to your period?"
"It seems a little more...it seems about the same..."
"It's okay, you're not pregnant, your period is just delayed, go back."
“…”
Luo Zhen looked at Erhua stupidly, with tear marks still on her face!
"Not pregnant? That's impossible, doctor. She was retching and feeling uncomfortable two days ago, and she has been feeling lazy and sleepy these days." Aunt Sun told him that these were all symptoms of pregnancy.
"Dry retching means your stomach is not healthy. If you're feeling lazy, go to bed early." The doctor impatiently drove the person out. "If you don't have anything else, leave quickly. The next one will come in."
On the way back, Luo Zhen said nothing and had a very ugly expression on his face.
"Don't be like this." Erhua took her hand and said, "We've only been married for five months. Why are you in such a hurry? I'm not in a hurry at all. Wouldn't it be nice for the two of us to be comfortable like this for a few more months?"
Luo Zhen felt very lost. She thought she was happy when she was pregnant, and she was terrified and sad when she saw blood in the morning. Now she felt empty and lonely.
Sometimes, we don’t miss something because we didn’t have it.
It is really hard to let go when you have it and then lose it.
