Chapter 119: Coming to See You in the Snow

The family was chatting animatedly when Qiuhua caught a glimpse of someone outside.

She stood up and walked outside. Before she reached the door, she caught a glimpse of a person standing outside.

"you……"

"Qiuhua, it's me!"

Qiuhua heard the familiar voice and hurried out to pull the man in. A gust of cold air rushed in and Qiuhua shivered.

"It's snowing so heavily outside, why are you here?"

She asked as she helped him brush off the snow, her tone hinting at worry and complaint. He's almost turning into a snowman!

"Why, you don't want me to come?"

He blinked his eyes, and his eyelashes were covered with white snow. His nose was red from the cold, but it couldn't hide the smile on the corner of his mouth.

"Don't talk nonsense! Shake off the snow quickly! If it melts, you'll catch a cold!"

"Hey, kid from the Wu family, come on, go to the coal stove, don't freeze yourself!" Mom hurriedly called him and took the hot water bottle in her hand.

"Come to your aunt's house for New Year's Eve dinner today?"

Wu Xin nodded but didn't take the hot water bottle. In fact, except for his hands and face which were exposed, his whole body was warm.

"Aunt, I'm not cold, please cover yourself."

Mum stopped being polite and said with a smile, "Young men just have a lot of yang energy."

The two of them huddled by the coal stove to keep warm. Wu Xin stretched out his hands, his slender fingers red from the cold. Qiuhua took the pot off the stove and pulled his hands towards the middle.

"Look at your hands. They're frozen and you can't write anymore. How are you going to get into college?"

Wu Xin looked at her angry expression and laughed, pretending to be very cold. The more he laughed, the angrier Qiu Hua became.

"Still laughing, you don't know how to cherish yourself!"

"Of course I don't understand. I understand. Of course I take care of myself. I still have to go to college. But today I happen to be at my aunt's house for New Year's Eve dinner. It's a rare opportunity..."

Qiuhua was speechless for a moment. She looked at the fire on the coal balls burning very vigorously. The small flames seemed to be dancing in her heart, making her heart almost burn with each beat.

"What's the point of it? There are so many days during the New Year holiday. It's not too late to come back when the weather is better..."

"Why isn't it too late?" Wu Xin looked at Qiuhua's face, then glanced at the people at the table behind him, and repeated what he wanted to say over and over again.

"How many months have you counted?"

Qiuhua knew he was talking about the days they hadn't seen each other, one hundred and fifty-two days, so she didn't need to count.

"Are you really not in a hurry at all?"

"Of course not!"

“…”

Seeing Qiuhua's reaction, Wu Xin smiled with satisfaction.

Qiuhua was very upset when she saw him laughing at her.

"Wu family boy, why don't you stay for dinner? The food at our house isn't as good as your aunt's, so you have to make do with it."

Dad asked Wu Xin to stay for dinner. The two said they were classmates, but he didn't think they were classmates no matter how he looked at them. He could only sigh in his heart: Girls should not be kept home when they grow up!

"Uncle, no, I'm here for my aunt's family reunion dinner, I can't just disappear again.

I just brought a book for Qiuhua today. She asked me to borrow it last time."

Dad nodded and touched his chin. Let this kid come, he even found an excuse.

Wu Xin unbuttoned his cotton jacket, took out a book from his arms and handed it to Qiuhua. She reached out to take it, and a gentle feeling from the book passed into her palm.

"I thought if you're bored, you might want to read a book." He lowered his voice and said, "When you read a book, remember who lent it to you. You have to return it."

After saying that, he winked mischievously.

This Wu Xin is really something. After half a year of high school, his temper has become more and more out of control!

Qiuhua patted his arm as a warning.

"Ouch, that hurts!" Wu Xin cried out in a suppressed voice. After straightening his clothes, he put away his mischievous expression and said, "Let me ask you something."

Seeing his serious expression, Qiu Hua quickly said earnestly, "What's the matter? Ask ahead."

"I heard that Black Dog is looking for someone to be his matchmaker. Is that true?"

She thought it was something else, but it turned out to be this. Qiuhua hadn't taken the matter of the black dog seriously, but she didn't expect Wu Xin to ask her so seriously.

"You already know everything, and you still ask me."

Wu Xin's face darkened even further. He looked at the snow outside, rubbed his red hands, and after a moment he said, "I heard what my aunt said. I'm worried, so I came to see you. But I believe you."

It's just that I'm studying outside and can't protect you all the time. You know that Hei Gou is not someone you want to mess with, so I'm just worried that he might do something extreme."

What Wu Xin said made sense, which was something Qiu Hua had not considered.

"I'd feel more at ease if you were in Tahe Town, but I'm worried about you being here during the Lunar New Year."

Their eyes met, and Qiuhua was deeply attracted by the eagerness in his eyes and couldn't look away for a long time.

"Don't worry... I'll try not to go out alone... Is that okay?"

Wu Xin nodded, and his hands, which were placed on the coal stove to keep warm, unconsciously moved towards Qiuhua, but immediately retracted.

"Okay, my aunt's house should be ready for dinner, I'm going back first."

Wu Xin was about to stand up, but Qiu Hua calmly grabbed the corner of his clothes and said, "It's been a few days since the New Year, are you still coming to see me?"

He shook his head mischievously, but his eyes never left her big watery eyes. Because the coal stove was too warm, her face was very red.

"Really not coming?"

He still shook his head.

"If you don't want to come, then don't come."

Qiuhua threw off the corner of his clothes and said, "Okay, you are free now. Go back and have the reunion dinner."

After a long time, there was no movement from the people around him. Qiuhua glanced at him from the corner of her eye. Wu Xin caught her cute look and burst out laughing.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Nothing." Wu Xin said it was nothing, but his shoulders were shaking violently.

"My aunt likes to eat shepherd's purse wontons. She said that the ones grown in your village fields are the fattest and best. I thought I would come over to see some shepherd's purse after the New Year."

Wu Xin's excuses were always so lame that Qiu Hua couldn't help but smile.

"Okay, okay, you should go back." Qiuhua hurried him to the door, then suddenly went back into the house and took out an umbrella.

Wu Xin took out his umbrella and said happily, "Look, I now have another legitimate reason!"

Qiu Hua rolled her eyes at him and said, "Yes, yes, but the reason you just gave is much more legitimate."

On New Year's Eve, the family reunited and Qiuhua had a hearty meal, feeling satisfied both in her stomach and in her heart.

It snowed that night, and it was estimated that a thick layer of snow would accumulate on the road. Qiuhua lay on the bed and listened carefully to the sound of the snowflakes falling, feeling extremely calm inside.

Qiuhua likes snowy days. Apart from worrying about whether it would be inconvenient for Erhua and A'sao to come back tomorrow, she is in a surprisingly good mood.

Tomorrow is the first day of the Lunar New Year. Farmers are busy all year round, so they won’t get up early or cook tomorrow.

But Erhua and Luo Zhen are coming, so don’t worry about it, just treat them to delicious food!
