Chapter 52: Dating in Progress

This time Dahua was dumbfounded.

My voice was just a little louder just now, but how could it make the fearless Big Lazi cry?

"What are you doing? Why are you crying for no reason?"

Dahua was at a loss.

Da Lazi forced back her tears and said, "No, I'm just having a hard time with myself. It's none of your business."

"Why are you acting like it's none of my business? It looks like I just provoked you." Dahua scratched his head in annoyance and said, "Don't cry, I apologize to you. I really can't spend your money."

"But you just said you didn't want to eat, and now you're ordering a bowl of wontons. You're obviously disgusted with me, aren't you? Are you still remembering the last time I took Qiuhua's silk thread?"

Can you call that taking? That was stealing, that was robbing!

"Here, I'm not eating this myself. Didn't you hear me asking you to take it away?"

Dahua saw that the boss had already brought out the bowl, so he went in and took the bowl, saying, "I'm leaving now. What happened last time is over, so don't dwell on it. Don't worry, I don't take it to heart. Otherwise, I wouldn't have greeted you or spoken to you."

After saying that, he took the bowl and left. Dalazi opened his mouth but couldn't say a word. He could only watch Dahua's back as he walked away.

"Little girl, do you want to eat wontons?" the boss called from inside.

"don't want!"

Da Lazi yelled and left, and the boss looked innocent, not knowing what he had said wrong.

Dahua carried the wontons all the way to Zhao Xiaojuan's door. He was only thinking about letting her taste them, and didn't care at all that his hands were burned red.

Zhao Xiaojuan was going out to throw something away when the two of them bumped into each other and both grinned.

"What are you carrying?"

Dahua looked at Zhao Xiaojuan with a silly smile. It was the young lady who spoke first. Only now did he remember what he was holding in his hands. His hands were already numb from the heat.

"Wontons, bought on the street, for you to eat."

"Oh, it's so hot! Come on, give it to me, give it to me!"

Zhao Xiaojuan hurriedly reached out to take the bowl with both hands, and their hands touched lightly. Dahua's red hands were touched by her warm and soft hands, and his heart suddenly exploded, as if countless sparrows were jumping on them, making an endless "dong dong dong dong" sound.

Zhao Xiaojuan took the bowl and found that it was still very hot. She looked again and saw that Dahua's hands were almost red!

"Ouch, your hand!" she screamed.

"It's okay, it's not hot." Dahua smiled. It was worth it just to let her eat something hot.

"You're talking nonsense! Your hands are about to be burned, and you're still saying it's okay. Come in quickly!"

Zhao Xiaojuan led Dahua into the house. Her elder brother and sister-in-law were there. They were both shocked by his red hands. Her sister-in-law went into the inner room and brought out a basin of cold water. Dahua put his hands in to soak them. Only then did he feel the numbness and burning sensation in his hands.

Seeing Xiaojuan put the wonton bowl on the table without eating, Dahua became anxious and said, "Eat it quickly, it will get cold soon and won't taste good. Eat it while it's hot."

Seeing this, the sister-in-law covered her mouth and laughed, and jokingly said to Xiaojuan's brother: "Dahua looks honest and silent, but he is quite caring. You can rest assured about your sister from now on."

Zhao Xiaojuan blushed deeply and whispered, "Watch your hands, don't burn them, and don't do such stupid things in the future!"

"My hand is fine, just eat!" Dahua laughed foolishly.

At his urging, Zhao Xiaojuan finished the bowl of wontons. Although the wontons were made with watery soup and there was not a bit of meat in the skin, the soup tasted very fresh and the wontons were slippery. One bowl of it made her feel warm.

After finishing the wontons, Dahua's hands felt better. Although they still looked red, he didn't feel as spicy anymore.

Dahua left without saying a few words. They weren't engaged yet, and it wasn't good to always go to someone else's house. They had been sitting there for quite a while.

Her sister-in-law urged Xiaojuan to accompany Dahua to the street to return the wonton bowl, and she agreed without thinking.

Dahua held the bowl in his hand as they walked side by side, their steps unsteady, their eyes darting, their faces warmed from moment to moment. Unlike their eager pace on the way here, Dahua wished the path leading to the street would never end, so he and Xiaojuan could keep walking forever.

"Um, be careful on the road when you come the day after tomorrow."

Dahua whispered that the day after tomorrow was the day they had agreed to come and see the beam. He was very nervous, fearing that the bad weather would delay their coming. He was even more afraid that the beam at home was too thin and Director Zhao and the others would dislike it, and then his relationship with Xiaojuan would fall through.

"Um."

Zhao Xiaojuan answered softly, feeling a little embarrassed as she pinched the corner of her clothes with her hands.

In fact, both of them were unsure, but they were overthinking it. Zhao Xiaojuan's parents were very satisfied with Dahua. They also knew that their family conditions were probably not good, but they thought that as long as Xiaojuan was willing, the old couple would have no objection. At most, they would help them more after the matchmaking.

As I was walking, I almost missed the wonton shop until Big Lazi suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"Brother, who is this?"

When Dahua came to his senses, he found that he had reached the door of the wonton shop. Dalazi was standing opposite him with an expressionless face. In fact, she knew who Xiaoniangyu next to Dahua was, but she still wanted to ask.

"Why are you still here?"

Dahua asked in surprise. It was already past two o'clock, and he naturally thought that Dalazi had finished shopping and gone home. He didn't expect her to appear again, as if she was waiting for him here.

"Is she from your village?" Zhao Xiaojuan asked with a smile, and that smile was like the sunshine in May that was about to come.

"Yes, our village's little mermaid."

Da Lazi's expressionless face was slightly moved, and his dark complexion became even darker. After a long while, he uttered a few words: "I'm scared to be alone. I'll wait for you to go back together."
