Shanghai is so prosperous and dazzling!
The next morning, the uncle came back with some fried dough sticks and soy milk. The sweet and fragrant soy milk paired with the crispy and greasy fried dough sticks was so warm and delicious.
After breakfast, Uncle and Liang Ping took Liang Genfa and Qiuhua out for a stroll. They called it a stroll, but they actually went by car.
The car was shaking and moving slowly. Liang Ping and Qiu Hua were sitting together. Liang Ping was very excited and chattered non-stop, introducing things to Qiu Hua along the way. But Qiu Hua said nothing. Her face was pale and she had a feeling of rage in her chest, otherwise the food she had eaten in the morning seemed about to come out of her stomach.
"Sister, why don't you speak?" Liang Ping finally noticed that something was wrong with Qiuhua.
"I feel a little uncomfortable and want to vomit."
"Oh, you're carsick."
Qiuhua covered her mouth with her hands, almost unable to hold it in any longer, and said with difficulty: "Liang Ping, can we get off the car first? I really can't hold it in any longer!"
Finally the car stopped, Qiuhua rushed out and vomited all over the floor.
Fortunately, the place where they got off the bus was not far from their destination. Qiuhua was fine after vomiting, and the four of them walked forward slowly.
Gradually, more houses appeared on the roadside, and more and more people came and went. Qiuhua looked at the scene in amazement, which was completely different from her own home. It seemed that this place was also a street, with many people and many shops, but compared to the street near her home, it was simply too prosperous!
The shops here are called stores, and some have large glass windows for décor, allowing you to see the dazzling array of goods inside. It's truly dazzling. As Liang Ping drags Qiuhua around, she marvels at the ornate porcelain vases, elaborate cheongsams, and all sorts of quirky gadgets hidden behind the glass doors.
"Look, sister!" Liang Ping finally stopped at the door of a store. She pointed at a long floral dress inside and said, "Is it pretty? Is it pretty?"
Qiuhua looked in the direction she pointed. The yellow dress with white flowers was so eye-catching, just like the one worn by foreigners in calendar pictures.
"It looks great! But... why doesn't it have sleeves? It's hard to wear out!"
Liang Ping pulled her in, muttering, "Why isn't it so comfortable to wear? Sister, you're such an old-fashioned person! My classmates all have clothes like this, and they all wear them on the street. They look so beautiful!"
Of course Qiuhua had never seen anyone else wearing such sleeveless clothes, but she said she could understand it, because this is Shanghai!
"Hey, little girl, do you like this dress? You have good taste!" The clerk greeted them enthusiastically.
Liang Ping leaned close to Qiuhua's ear and said, "Dad said he would buy it for me on my birthday!"
It was obvious that she was very excited. Qiuhua blinked her eyes. She was also happy for Liang Ping, but she didn't envy her at all because she had never thought of wearing a sleeveless dress. But the dress was indeed beautiful, and Liang Ping's fair skin was very suitable for the dress.
The two of them left the clothing store laughing and joking. Liang Genfa and Liang Gensheng were waiting for them outside.
Everyone was a little hungry, so Liang Gensheng asked them, "Are you hungry? Let's go eat!"
This is a dim sum restaurant. The sign above says wontons and noodles, with various prices. Liang Genfa and Qiuhua couldn't understand it and didn't know how to order. Liang Gensheng asked them to sit down, and he and Liang Ping ordered food.
Qiuhua and Liangping each had a bowl of wontons, and the two fathers each had a bowl of noodles.
After a while, two bowls of wontons were served. The small wontons were floating leisurely in the bowls, decorated with a little chopped green onion. These wontons were different from the ones made at home. The wontons were small, and the fillings were even smaller. The skin was very thin, almost transparent, and seemed to be inflated inside, like fish bubbles floating, and they were slippery in the mouth.
Qiuhua took a sip of the soup, it was so delicious!
"These wontons are so delicious!" Qiuhua couldn't help but exclaim.
"That's right. I love coming to this shop the most. Sister, one bowl is enough for you. How about asking Dad to buy you another bowl?"
Liang Ping carefully noticed that Qiuhua's bowl was almost empty.
"No, no, that's enough!"
Qiuhua was too embarrassed to ask for a second bowl, but in fact she could have eaten another one.
At this moment, a plate of buns was served, but this bun was different from the ones at home. It was smaller in size, with a shiny surface and sprinkled with chopped green onions. I picked up one and found that it was fried on the bottom, with a slight burnt aroma.
"Qiuhua, try the pan-fried buns."
Liang Gensheng picked up one and put it in her bowl. Qiuhua picked it up and took a bite. A little boiling hot broth went into her mouth and burned the tip of her tongue. She shuddered and the pan-fried dumpling fell into the bowl.
"Slow down, slow down, the shengjian is hot!" Liang Genfa quickly took care of his daughter.
It's hot, but it's really delicious. The broth and meat inside are sweet and fresh, the bun skin is crispy, and the chopped green onions on the outside are so fragrant when you chew them in your mouth!
The four people came out of the dim sum restaurant contentedly. Across the street was the department store, which was Liang Ping's next destination.
The department store really has everything, including daily necessities, clothes, and some strange things that Qiuhua has never seen before.
Qiuhua stopped in front of a fan shop.
There were all kinds of embroidered round fans inside. She leaned in to look and found that this was not a fan shop, but an embroidery shop. Qiuhua wanted to go in and take a look, but was a little timid.
"Sister, do you want to go into this store?" Liang Ping stood behind her, pushing her shoulders with both hands. "Come on, let's go in and take a look!"
Qiuhua was astounded by the store's offerings: fans, silk scarves, handkerchiefs, table decorations, decorative paintings, clothing, and every kind of embroidery imaginable. Her world seemed to have suddenly opened up; she had never imagined embroidery could be used to create so many things.
She felt that each of these items was like a treasure and did not dare to pick them up with her hands.
She finally stopped in front of a round fan. The fans were double-sided and had pictures of kittens playing with balls, peonies competing for beauty, and beautiful landscapes on them. The front and back of the fans were equally exquisite.
"Ah, is this double-sided embroidery?" Qiuhua couldn't help but mutter to herself.
"Oh, the little girl fish actually knows how to do double-sided embroidery?"
The woman who was speaking was embroidering in the shop, but when she heard Qiuhua's words, she looked up. Her accent was surprisingly similar to Qiuhua's.
"An embroidery master told me about double-sided embroidery." Qiuhua walked over and looked carefully at the embroidery frame in front of the woman. It was an embroidered portrait of Chairman Mao. The color of the skin, the brightness and darkness of the light, and every strand of hair were lifelike, as if the great man was about to teach her.
There were some very thin threads on the embroidery frame. Qiuhua looked closely and found that the threads on the needle in the embroidery master's hand were so thin that they could not be seen if one was not careful!
"Master, why is your thread so thin?"
The embroidery master listened to her accent, smiled gently, and said, "Xiao Niangyu and I are from the same place. Have you heard of Tahe?"
Tahe! The Tahe that Master Qian mentioned!
