Chapter 230 The Two-Faced Yan Batian

On the surface, this team appears to be highly disciplined and marches in unison.

The members of the Yan family, each clad in fine armor and wielding sharp blades, walked at the head of the procession with imposing presence.

The members of other factions were slightly inferior in terms of equipment and momentum.

But they followed closely, maintaining a relatively tight formation, as if united in purpose, single-mindedly fighting against the false god.

However, beneath this seemingly united facade, everyone harbored their own thoughts and intentions.

The Yan family, confident in their strength, have always had a sense of superiority.

Yan Batian viewed this operation as an excellent opportunity for the Yan family to establish prestige and consolidate its position.

Therefore, he was focused on finding the false god's forces as soon as possible and making a great contribution.

The other forces that followed the Yan family had much more complex thoughts.

Some of the smaller factions were forced to join the operation due to the intimidating power of the Yan family.

Their hearts were filled with helplessness and fear, after all, the dark abyss was fraught with danger, and no one knew whether they could get out alive.

They looked at the arrogant attitude of the Yan family, and although they were dissatisfied, they could only dare to be angry but not speak out.

There are also some forces that are driven by speculative motives.

They hoped to gain some benefits in the fight against the false god by leveraging the power of the Yan family.

For example, acquiring valuable resources or enhancing one's reputation.

However, they were also worried that the Yan family would take all the credit, and that they would not only not get any benefits, but might also lose their lives for nothing.

The team encountered a series of crises shortly after entering the Dark Abyss, resulting in some casualties.

Several members of smaller factions were injured while trying to avoid traps, and some even lost their lives in a conflict with monsters.

This made the already uneasy group even more anxious.

"People are already dying at the very beginning, what are we going to do later?" a member of a small faction complained in a low voice.

"Following the Yan family, who knows if it's a blessing or a curse? I wish I hadn't gotten involved in this mess." Another person echoed in a low voice.

Although these complaints were not loud, they still reached Yan Batian's ears.

Before Yan Batian could make a move, his son Yan Feng, who was standing beside him, became enraged first.

Yan Feng's eyes widened, his face full of anger, and he rushed forward in a few steps.

He kicked the complaining member of the small faction hard, knocking him to the ground.

Yan Feng roared, "What? Do you think my father raised you poorly? Do you think following the Yan family is a disaster?"

"Let me tell you, if it weren't for my father taking the lead and organizing everyone to fight against the false god, would you little minions have had the chance to participate in such an important matter?"

"You think you have a chance to rid the mainland of a menace? You're already complaining as soon as there are a few casualties? What cowards!"

The man who had been kicked down struggled to his feet in pain. Though frightened, he couldn't help but mutter, "But we don't want to die for nothing..."

Upon hearing this, Yan Feng flew into a rage, reaching for his sword while cursing, "You dare talk back? Believe me or not, I'll kill you right now, you coward!"

Seeing that the situation was about to get out of control, Yan Batian quickly stepped forward, grabbed Yan Feng's arm, and shouted, "Feng'er, stop!"

Yan Feng looked at Yan Batian indignantly and said, "Father, these people are so ungrateful! Our Yan family has put in so much effort to fight against the false god, and they are making sarcastic remarks here!"

Yan Batian glared at Yan Feng, then turned to look at everyone and said in a deep voice, "Everyone, I understand your concerns. The Dark Abyss is dangerous; that's a fact."

"But we bear a heavy responsibility. If we do not eliminate the false god, the entire continent will be plunged into utter ruin."

"The Yan family took the lead this time, disregarding their own lives. We are all prepared to die."

“Feng’er acted impulsively just now, but what he said wasn’t entirely unreasonable. Since we’ve all chosen to work together, we should be of one mind.”

"If we were to back down now, not only would all our previous efforts be wasted, but countless innocent people would also be plunged into misery."

Upon hearing Yan Batian's words, everyone lowered their heads in shame.

Seeing this, Yan Batian softened his tone and said, "The road ahead is still long. Let's support each other and overcome difficulties together. As long as we successfully eliminate the false god, the Yan family will definitely not treat you unfairly."

The man who had been kicked down by Yan Feng hesitated for a moment, but finally clasped his hands and said, "Patriarch Yan, I misspoke just now. We are willing to continue to follow you and fight against the false god together."

Seeing this, members of other factions also chimed in.

Yan Batian nodded, glanced at Yan Feng, and said in a low voice, "Feng'er, why don't you apologize to everyone?"

Although Yan Feng looked unwilling, he still snorted and said, "I acted impulsively just now, I'm sorry."

The member of the small faction who was kicked down was flattered, his face still showing lingering fear.

He quickly waved his hand and stammered, "Young Master Yan, you are too kind. It was my fault for speaking without thinking. I shouldn't have complained."

"I will follow the Yan family closely from now on, even unto death, without complaint!"

Members of other smaller factions chimed in, "Yes, yes, the Yan family is leading the fight against the false god for the sake of the entire continent. We are extremely honored to be able to participate."

"We were wrong just now; we shouldn't have said those discouraging things."

Yan Batian nodded slightly, a tolerant and magnanimous expression on his face, and said, "It's good that everyone understands."

"Now that we face a formidable enemy, we must work together. As long as we successfully defeat the false god, all your efforts will not be in vain."

The crowd responded in unison again, and the atmosphere in the group seemed to have returned to some harmony.
