Chapter 44 The Mysterious Giant Bird

A few days later

On the deck, Wang Fan, along with Qin Xiaoxuan, Xiao Meng, and Hua Nianci, were busy collecting supplies from the ship's nets.

Sunlight shone on them, and a gentle sea breeze blew by, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

Wang Fan skillfully sorted the fish and shrimp in the net, a satisfied smile on his face.

Qin Xiaoxuan carefully sorted the small fish and put them into the bucket, glancing up at Wang Fan from time to time with tenderness in her eyes.

Xiao Meng chattered away on the side, bringing a lot of joy to everyone.

"Brother, do you think this seashell I found is pretty?"

Hua Nianci quietly helped carry the barrels full of supplies. Although she was sweating from exhaustion, a faint smile remained on her lips.

Just as everyone was immersed in this warm atmosphere, Wang Fan suddenly pointed into the distance and shouted, "Look, there seems to be an island over there!"

Everyone looked in the direction he pointed, and there they saw a piece of land faintly visible where the sea met the sky.

Xiao Meng jumped up excitedly: "Great! Let's go to the island and take a look!"

Qin Xiaoxuan, however, was somewhat worried: "I wonder if there are any dangers on that island."

Wang Fan thought for a moment and said, "No matter what, let's get closer and take a look first."

As the ship drew closer, the island's shape gradually became clearer.

The island was lush and green, with dense vegetation covering almost the entire island.

The tall trees reach straight into the sky, like giant green umbrellas.

At the foot of the mountain lies a golden beach, shimmering in the sunlight.

In the center of the island, a mountain peak soars into the clouds, its summit shrouded in mist, giving it a mysterious and unpredictable feel.

Looking at the beautiful scenery, Xiaomeng couldn't help but exclaim, "This island is so beautiful!"

Hua Nianci was still somewhat worried: "But the more beautiful a place is, the more dangers it may hide."

Just then, a strange cry suddenly came from the island.

The scream was sharp and shrill, sending chills down everyone's spines. Wang Fan and the others couldn't help but look at each other in dismay.

"What's that sound? It sounds like some kind of bird of prey in the sky?" Qin Xiaoxuan said, her brows furrowed.

Xiao Meng and Hua Nianci hesitated. Xiao Meng said, "Maybe we shouldn't go. That sound is kind of scary."

Hua Nianci chimed in, "Yes, what if there's danger?"

Wang Fan pondered for a moment and said, "Don't panic. Let's not go too deep. Let's check the situation from the outside. If there is any danger, leave immediately."

Although the women were still somewhat worried, they agreed to Wang Fan's suggestion.

The sound disappeared as their boat approached the island's shore.

Wang Fan frowned, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "You guys stay on the boat first, Xiao Hei and I will go to the island to take a look."

Qin Xiaoxuan hurriedly said, "No, it's too dangerous. We have to go together."

Wang Fan shook his head: "If something happens, you can figure out how to deal with it if you're on the ship. It would be harder to take care of each other if you all went there."

Xiao Meng and Hua Nianci were also full of worry, but in the end they agreed to Wang Fan's arrangement.

Xiao Hei followed reluctantly behind, thinking to himself.

"Damn master! You take me with you when there's danger, but forget about me when there's no danger. If it weren't for making a living, I wouldn't be suffering like this with you!"

Wang Fan glanced back at Xiao Hei and seemed to sense its reluctance.

"Little Black, cheer up, there might be a surprise."

Little Black grunted and reluctantly quickened its pace.

Wang Fan carefully led Xiao Hei ashore. The island was unusually quiet, with only the sounds of their footsteps and breathing.

As they walked, they suddenly encountered a flock of sheep.

Wang Fan's eyes lit up; he planned to catch some and raise them.

He quickly took a net out of his backpack and quietly approached the flock of sheep.

Xiao Hei watched in disbelief, thinking to himself that its owner was quite quick.

Wang Fan seized the opportunity and suddenly threw out the net, instantly catching several sheep.

Wang Fan and Xiao Hei excitedly dragged the sheep along, muttering, "We can roast lamb tonight! It'll taste amazing!"

Just as they were happily imagining their delicious dinner, a huge bird suddenly flew down from the sky.

The bird spread its wings, blotting out the sky and casting a deep shadow.

Xiao Hei was so frightened that he quickly hid behind Wang Fan, trembling with fear.

Wang Fan also gripped the crossbow tightly in his hand nervously, looking up at the mysterious large bird.

The large bird circled above their heads and let out a loud cry.

Wang Fan's heart pounded with anxiety, wondering if this giant creature would suddenly launch an attack.

Just as Wang Fan was on high alert, the large bird suddenly swooped down and flew towards the sheep that had been caught in the net.

"No!" Wang Fan shouted, trying to stop the giant bird.

But the large bird was extremely fast; in the blink of an eye, it grabbed the net with its sharp claws and flew away with the sheep inside.

Wang Fan watched the large bird fly away, feeling both angry and helpless.

He turned to look at the trembling little black dog, and his anger flared up.

"You coward, you're utterly useless when it matters!"

Xiao Hei barked defiantly and glared at Wang Fan.

"You're no better yourself, yet you have the nerve to criticize me!"

Wang Fan looked at the defiant Xiao Hei, paused for a few seconds, and then said, "Alright, let's not blame each other. Let's think about what to do next."

Xiao Hei snorted and fell silent.

Wang Fan said helplessly, "Xiao Hei, go and look around to see if you can find the escaped sheep. We can't make a wasted trip."

Xiao Hei turned his head away, clearly unwilling to act because Wang Fan had just scolded him.

Wang Fan got anxious: "Xiao Hei, don't be stubborn. We'll only have food tonight if we find sheep."

Xiao Hei remained unmoved, even lying motionless on the ground.

Wang Fan continued to tempt, "Xiao Hei, don't you want some delicious lamb chops? The tender and juicy texture is simply intoxicating."

Xiao Hei raised its head slightly, a hint of longing in its eyes, but quickly lowered it again.

Seeing that it was working, Wang Fan continued, "As long as we find sheep, you can eat your fill tonight."

Xiao Hei hesitated for a moment, then finally stood up, though he still groaned somewhat reluctantly.

Wang Fan was overjoyed and immediately took Xiao Hei to search for the sheep's tracks.

They followed the direction the sheep had run off in, but the tracks in the grass grew fainter and fainter.

Just when Wang Fan thought he was about to lose the clue, Xiao Hei suddenly ran excitedly toward a small hill. Wang Fan followed closely behind and sure enough, he found the sheep.

Wang Fan was overjoyed and quickly set up a simple trap around the area. Then he said to Xiao Hei, "Xiao Hei, go and drive the sheep over here."

Upon receiving the order, Xiao Hei barked and charged towards the flock of sheep. Startled, the sheep ran towards the trap set by Wang Fan.

Wang Fan seized the opportunity and successfully trapped several sheep in the snare.

"That's great, Xiao Hei!" Wang Fan praised Xiao Hei happily.
