Second showdown

Second showdown

When Lin Bai woke up from the empty arena, he finally realized where he was.

There are no rules here. It is a dark zone where the strong prey on the weak. No one will pity you because of your weakness. There will only be people who crush and trample on you because of your weakness until you can no longer get up.

This place was unlike the colleges in the Federation. There was no fairness as described in textbooks. The air here was filled with another kind of order: bloody, cold, and plundering.

If Lin Bai was a child who was truly born in the Federation and raised in a greenhouse, perhaps she would be confused, find it difficult to accept, or even collapse at this moment.

Unfortunately she is not.

She was an orphan before she traveled through time, wandering the streets and alleys, witnessing the fickleness of the world and the good and evil in people's hearts.

Lin Bai lowered her head and tightened her fingertips on her palms, which were still stained with blood, the mark left by her battle.

She got up and slowly walked down the ring. Everyone here was fighting alone, there was no alliance to speak of.

It is said that those who did not succeed in forming a team to go to the doubles competition were unable to fully trust the people around them, and being too cautious was not a good thing.

The competition does not guarantee food and accommodation for the contestants. Lin Bai went to the service desk to withdraw his points and planned to find a hotel to stay in. He would rent a house when he had time.

She wandered around the black market and finally saw a small shop with a hotel sign.

There was only a small lamp hanging at the door of the shop, which was creaking and swaying. Lin Bai was a little scared, but not staying in the shop would only be more dangerous, and there was no place to rest.

She walked into the store and saw a fox with withered and pale hair dozing off at the front desk, occasionally bumping his crutch.

Lin Bai raised an eyebrow and looked around. The decoration of this store was a bit old and lacked the feeling of the interstellar era. He asked, "Boss, are there any rooms available?"

The old fox quickly shook his head, tremblingly raised his head to look at Lin Bai, and said in a hoarse voice: "Yes, there are also king-size rooms and suites."

Lin Bai booked a double room and took the room card to the corresponding room.

The moment she lay on the bed, she finally felt a sigh of relief and took off the mask.

Everything was disrupted, grandma disappeared, she dropped out of school, and the mythological stories were not collected well.

In order to cheer herself up, she opened the file of story records and began to write. From childhood to adulthood, stories were the only ones that could make her relax and immerse herself.

More than three hours passed by unknowingly. Lin Bai hurriedly packed up and washed up. There might be another fight tomorrow, and she would not lose a single one because the manual said that points would be deducted if she lost.

She can't waste a single cent.

The next day, the direct sunlight woke Lin Bai up. She looked out the window and saw simulated stars above the black market simulating the alternation of day and night.

In order to prevent the already stressed-out people here from collapsing mentally, the black market has been trying its best to make everything resemble the real natural world.

Lin Bai packed up and went downstairs. The old fox was still guarding the front desk. When Lin Bai passed by, the old fox said, "Humans? I haven't seen them in many years."

Lin Bai looked at the old fox in surprise. She touched her face and found the mask was still there.

"I was raised by humans and I am most familiar with the smell of humans." The old fox finally raised his head and struggled to open his eyes.

The old fox fumbled around on his body and said, "I'm talking about a human summoner. I haven't seen one in thousands of years."

"How many thousands of years have you lived?" Lin Bai grasped the strangeness.

The old fox finally found a crystal and handed it to Lin Bai, saying, "I'm quite long-lived. This is a book of Earth's mythology. The human left it for me as a bedtime story before he left. I'll give you a copy."

The old fox was quite kind, which surprised Lin Bai.

She took the crystal and put it into the optical computer memory.

After saying goodbye to the old fox, Lin Bai went straight to the arena.

Dark simulated clouds piled up above the arena, and Lin Bai couldn't help but feel nervous. He wondered if he would meet an opponent as strong as yesterday.

One cannot be unlucky so many times.

As soon as Lin Bai walked into the arena to register, he was immediately lined up. Perhaps there were too few people in the primary arena.

The broadcast started immediately.

"The next primary arena match is between Mask and Ice Wolf."

Lin Bai adjusted her state and soon it was her turn to go on stage.

It was still the huge egg-shaped auditorium, but there seemed to be a few more people. Lin Bai took a deep breath and summoned Marshal Tianpeng again.

The wolf tribe on the opposite side was indeed ice wolves, and what they summoned was a huge snow wolf made entirely of ice.

"This mask is so unlucky. In the first round, it met a master, and in the second round, it met another master."

"What kind of master is he if he ends up like this?"

The bell rang and the game began.

Lin Bai and the wolf tribe opposite quickly merged into gods.

Lin Bai rushed out with a quick step, and the nine-toothed rake appeared directly in her hand. She raised the rake and headed straight for the snow wolf's waist.

The opponent was obviously not a pushover. He dodged Lin Bai's surprise attack with a flash of his body.

"Newbie who only knows how to sneak attack, let me teach you what a real duel is."

As soon as he finished speaking, the snow wolf stretched out sharp blades on its four claws, and raised its front paws to sweep towards Lin Bai. Lin Bai thought he could just dodge it, but he never expected that the cold wind brought by the blades was mixed with the sharp blades, which cut off a piece of flesh from Lin Bai's arm.

Severe pain came over him, and Lin Bai used fire to heat the blood in his arm, stopping the bleeding.

The snow wolf on the opposite side did not relax at all and stared at Lin Bai, trying to attack.

Lin Bai knew that if she fell into a passive position, there would be no chance of a comeback. She gritted her teeth, swung her backhand, and plunged the Nine-toothed Rake into the ground. Lin Bai pressed down on one end, prying up a large piece of the ground. Hidden by the gravel and dust, her figure suddenly disappeared.

The Snow Wolf narrowed its eyes, its nose twitching slightly, trying to detect Lin Bai's position. But the next moment, a scorching flame exploded from behind the Snow Wolf!

"Want to launch a sneak attack? Too naive!" The wolf clan snorted coldly. He controlled the snow wolf to leap up suddenly, and the cold breath suppressed the flames.

But Lin Bai had anticipated this and didn't expect the attack to succeed. Taking advantage of the moment the snow wolf took to the air, she transformed into the Dharma Realm of Heaven and Earth.

Then, with a low shout, the Nine-toothed Rake swept out, slamming into the side of the Snow Wolf.

The ice shield cracked, the wolf summoner's eyes suddenly changed, and he quickly retreated.

Lin Bai flipped his body, forcing himself to distance himself from the snow wolf. He swung the nine-toothed rake in his hand violently, and a huge shadow roared in the air, bringing up a gust of wind and slamming hard on the snow wolf's back.

The snow wolf resembled a real wolf, with a head of steel, legs of iron, a waist of slender flesh, and a spine in the danger zone. The blow was truly heavy, and the wolf summoner could no longer maintain perfect control, and the snow wolf's body briefly stiffened.

Lin Bai didn't hesitate. He pounced forward and hit the wolf summoner's chest with his knee, knocking him to the ground.

The winner has been decided.

But Lin Bai didn't relax. She raised her rake and pointed it coldly at the wolf tribe: "Abstain."

The wolf's expression was extremely grim. He saw the murderous intent in Lin Bai's eyes and knew that this was no bluff. There was no mercy in the black market. If the loser didn't know what was going on, he would really die.

"I abstain."

The announcement sounded: "Primary Arena, Mask wins."

Lin Bai slowly put away his rake, turned around and walked off the stage, leaving the audience in an uproar.

"This new guy plays so fast? Is he crazy?"

"Her moves are like those of a veteran from the black market."

“That’s too cruel.”

Lin Bai walked down the stage with a cold smile on his face.

She was not crazy, she just understood long ago that in this dark area, showing mercy was the greatest weakness.
