Chapter 139 Mutated Banyan Tree

Chapter 139 Mutated Banyan Tree

When she first obtained Qingying, she hadn't yet developed her intelligence, and every day she felt like she was dragging a thousand pounds of copper and iron.

So Qingli was not affected by being in her arms at this moment. On the contrary, Qingying could float away on her own without her having to carry her.

After walking for almost an hour without finding any mutated plants or animals, Ye Shang frowned. In such a large forest, they hadn't encountered a single strange creature.

It shouldn't be.

Ye Shang simply flew directly onto a giant tree. The branches were so thick that she could lie flat on them. However, she just sat there, with her left leg hanging down and her right leg raised and placed on a branch. This allowed her to adjust Qing Li's posture and make him more comfortable.

A light shadow floated and stood upright on one side of the tree branch.

For some reason, she felt that this forest shouldn't be completely empty, given its vast area and abundance of flora and fauna. Yet, she hadn't encountered a single animal along the way.

There wasn't even a single bird.

The grove used to have two dominant trees, but this grove is much bigger now.

Thinking of the grove, Ye Shang couldn't help but think of that mutated pothos plant. He would definitely go and collect it when he had time.

A gust of wind blew up Qingli's cloak hood, lifting it up slightly, revealing his rosy cheeks—tsk, they looked even more delicate than a child's.

Ye Shang thought for a moment, then leaned a little closer and saw the fine downy hair on his face. He couldn't help himself and unconsciously kissed his cheek before pulling away immediately.

Cough... She reached out and covered him with the hood of her cloak. Luckily, she was quick, so he probably didn't even feel it.

Looking down, I saw he was still with his eyes closed. Hmm, good, at least he's not awake.

About an hour passed quietly like that.

Qing Li's dark eyelashes trembled as she woke up to find Ye Shang's brows furrowed. He reached out his right hand and gently touched her brow, his voice slightly hoarse: "What's wrong?"

Ye Shang heard his voice, "There's something strange happening below."

After waiting for so long, are they finally going to show up?

No wonder I didn't encounter anything strange along the way after landing; it turns out there was something even more powerful lurking inside.

She said that such a large forest should not be without mutated plants and animals.

Upon hearing this, Qingli quickly sat up, only then realizing that she had been sleeping in her arms the whole time...

What should I do? I suddenly don't want to get up.

He straightened up, but his waist was locked by Ye Shang, and he couldn't move. He asked, "Ah Shang, what is that?"

Ye Shang's expression was somewhat unpleasant. He held him tightly, preventing him from leaving his embrace, because, "The banyan tree we're in is the one that has mutated."

But she felt it wouldn't be that simple, so she didn't leave immediately. Instead, she watched the roots under the banyan tree slowly moving.

Light Shadow stood nearby, ready to launch an attack at any moment.

Qingli sat on her lap, wrapped her arms around her neck, and turned her head to look at the ground. She said softly, "So, you suspect there might be something else hidden."

Ye Shang responded with a "Mm".

The two simply watched, and before long, several moving roots appeared out of nowhere, each branch covered in bloodstains.

There was even a deer with sharp teeth and claws wrapped around it, but unfortunately, the deer's neck had been broken, and it was being carried back by another branch.

They were dragged back, covered in blood, and the next instant, as they approached the banyan tree, they saw a gash in the center of its thick trunk.
