Chapter 15 Refusal to Recruit

Xie Qingye smiled and said, "I don't know, but judging from the direction he was pointing, it should be you, Grandpa Chen, and Ye Shang. Maybe he figured something out."

Ye Shang's lips curled into a strange sneer: "That guy's superpower is probably about seeing whether others have superpowers or not."

Xie Qingyuan rolled his eyes: "Damn, I'm so angry. He actually pointed it out in public. How come the boss got pointed out too?"

Ye Shang's gaze was indifferent, and his voice carried a hint of nonchalance, "Perhaps my level is too low to see my special ability."

"I think so too. It must be because his level is too low to see that the boss has superpowers." Zhu Caining nodded firmly. How could they, who have been with the boss day and night, not know how strong he is? Killing zombies is like cutting vegetables, let alone his most important spatial superpower.

Xie Qingye also had an unreadable smile on his face. After thinking for a moment, he said to everyone, "Judging from her tone, she is from the First Base. Does that mean there is a Second Base and a Third Base?"

"Perhaps, when we reach the next location, if we encounter any survivors, we can ask them," Jiang Lecheng said.

If they had other options, they really wouldn't want to go to the First Base. This army of theirs always had that arrogant, condescending attitude.

Zhuo Xia looked at the group of people with slight surprise, especially the woman in the long robe sitting in the car with her eyes closed. Her attire was the strangest. Even in the apocalypse, she was still cosplaying as an ancient person, wearing a Hanfu and carrying a sword. In the end, she only said one sentence, and the group of people refused her invitation and followed her.

She boarded the helicopter with a belly full of questions, remaining silent until the man in the trench coat asked, "Weren't you bringing those people? Why didn't you bring any of them? I saw several of them with superpowers."

She got angry as she spoke, wondering who was to blame. She glared at him and said, "It's all your fault! What are you pointing at? That girl in Hanfu said 'Get in the car and leave,' and everyone just listened to her and left." At this point, Zhuo Xia couldn't help but scold him, "Qi He, is your superpower fake? How can you make several superpowered individuals obey your every command without any real strength?"

Qi He frowned and recalled the people he had just seen. None of the three people had any colorful light spots. He shook his head firmly: "No, I can guarantee that I am not mistaken."

Because the other people all had light spots appearing on their bodies—the fire-type kid had red ones, and even the little boy had black light spots—he was absolutely certain he wasn't mistaken.

A lazy voice rang out: "If you're not sure, look at it a few more times. Aren't eyes for seeing?"

The two women immediately became serious. Zhuo Xia said, "Captain, is this the last mission for today?"

The figure who had been lying to the side slightly propped himself up. He had a wild and unrestrained air about him, with delicate features, fair skin, and a gentle face. He was dressed in casual clothes and exuded an air of unbridled nonchalance.

Every time Zhuo Xia saw her captain like this, she couldn't help but straighten her posture.

Qing Li didn't care about their comments. Her eyes were calm as she looked at the scenery outside the helicopter and said in a leisurely voice, "Next time, let Chang Lin come out."

Qi He paused, his expression froze. "Captain, do you also think I saw wrong?" He tried to argue, "But I clearly..."

Qing Li slightly raised her hand, stopping him from speaking further. Her voice had a youthful clarity and magnetism: "It's nothing. It doesn't matter if a few more ability users come. I have other arrangements for your mission."

Qi He was relieved; as expected, the captain was the one who thought things through more.

Zhuo Xia didn't ask what the arrangements were; that was a matter for the base, and she only needed to obey orders.

After driving for an hour, Ye Shang and the others arrived at a hotel by the roadside. They dealt with the zombies they encountered along the way in a simple way, ignoring those that didn't climb onto the car windows.

We've been on the road almost all day, and we just went through a small battle. Everyone looks a little tired.

After getting out of the car, Ye Shang put the car into his spatial storage.

Grandpa Chen is a very loving grandfather. He hardly spoke along the way, but he always followed behind his grandson and the other children with great care, trying not to cause them any trouble.

He is almost sixty years old this year, but he is still in good health. He has been taken care of by his grandson all along, especially Zhang Yiyang, who always thinks of Grandpa Chen when there is something good to eat.

He led Chen Zui through the crowd, saying nothing the whole way, especially today. He had been following behind them without showing any emotion. At this moment, he felt a little unwell.

He couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong, but something just felt off. In his sawing voice, he said, "Kids, I might not feel quite right."

He almost gasped for breath as he said that.

As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Zui immediately gripped Grandpa Chen's hand tightly: "Grandpa!"
