Below, Yu Xi stood beside a crystal plate, on which lay the person she hadn't seen for ten years and who she missed dearly.
She reached out her hand, somewhat incredulously, to feel his breath.
Sensing a faint breath, she turned to the clan leader: "Uncle, what happened to A-Jue?"
The clan chief leaned on a cane that looked very old and said in a deep voice, "It was brought back by the demon king's subordinates. They said that he was injured by humans while he was out on a mission. The demon king saw that he was in a near-death state and refused to use precious medicinal herbs to treat him, so he was carried back here."
Upon hearing this, Yu Xi paused for a moment, tears welling in her eyes: "It's alright, at least you're still alive, aren't you?"
She wiped away her tears, "At least I still have a chance to live."
The clan chief sighed, "Don't do anything to him yet. Let him rest here for two days. The clan will produce some precious medicinal herbs, but we can't do anything more than that."
Yu Xi nodded with tears in her eyes: "Thank you, Uncle. I will do my best to find medicine to save him."
Ying Jue was too badly injured. His magic could only keep him alive. All the bones in his body were shattered, all the tendons in his hands and feet were pulled out, and he had almost lost all his blood.
The Demon King used magic to treat Suiyi, but seeing no improvement, and unwilling to use his accumulated resources to save a subordinate, he simply sent him back to his own clan.
Ying Jue himself didn't want to die, and he had only managed to hold on until now by sheer willpower, to the point that he could no longer even maintain his human form.
An eagle lay listlessly on the crystal bed, unable to even open its eyes.
On the cliff not far away, Yu Ye was already unsettled when he realized it was his father.
"No, I have to go down. Is my father dead?" he asked uncertainly, his voice trembling with tears.
The two little birds quickly grabbed one of their arms: "Uncle, don't be impulsive. Auntie is down there, we can't just appear all at once."
Yu Ye's voice choked with emotion: "My father is lying down there, his life hanging in the balance. I have to go see him."
Ye Shang calmly said, "Let's go, let's go together."
The two little birds turned their heads in disbelief and looked at Ye Shang with four pairs of eyes the size of mung beans, as if to say, "Little Ye, how could you be like this? Shouldn't you be standing with us?"
Ye Shang ignored the two little birds' gazes and said to Yu Ye, "Let's go."
Yu Ye then hurriedly transformed into a large bird and carried Ye Shang downwards.
The two little birds could only shrug and think, "Fine, we'll take the scolding together." Reluctantly, they took flight and followed.
As soon as he landed, before he could even change back into human form, he hurriedly shouted, "Excuse me, excuse me!"
Using his wet, bird-like body, he led Ye Shang and his two little nieces inside.
He rushed to the front in no time, stopped, and stared intently at his father lying on the crystal slab.
Tears, large as beans, streamed down his face, accompanied by his sobs: "Father! My father! How could you leave me and Mother like this!"
Two little birds, chirping and running forward, flew to the crystal plate in front. Seeing their great-uncle lying motionless, they began to cry, tears streaming down their faces: "Great-uncle, how could you die so tragically~~~"
Two childish voices cried out like mourners.
Yu Ye also stepped forward, his heart filled with sorrow. His father, whom he hadn't seen for many years, was gone just like that. He gently nuzzled his father's head with his bird head.
Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.
