Chapter 289

A moment later, Ah Xiang came over and immediately used her supernatural abilities to stabilize the wounds of the injured person.

Soon after, the wound stopped bleeding, and after a long time, a scar gradually appeared at the wound site.

Ah Xiang said, "Captain Ye, his entire left leg was bitten off. After I cleaned out the debris, I found that there seemed to be some black threads inside."

Ye Shang walked closer and took a look. "Can it be removed surgically?"

Ah Xiang examined his wound carefully. "These black threads have spread all the way to the base of his thighs."

This means that if surgery is required, it will have to be performed by cutting directly from the groin.

Ye Shang asked, "If he doesn't have the surgery, will he die?"

Ah Xiang pursed her lips and nodded: "Yes."

Ye Shang thought for a moment, then summoned Qingying and held her in his hand. He used his left hand to throw a ball of energy at the superhuman's face, waking the man who had fainted from the pain. He then asked the injured man, "Your injury has become abnormal. You need surgery to remove it from your groin in order to survive."

Cold sweat beaded on the man's forehead. He gritted his teeth and said, "I'm willing. Thank you, Captain Ye."

Ye Shang glanced at him, then looked at the section of the calf.

His lower leg was already gone, and now they had to cut off the part above it as well.

When Ah Xiang heard the man say he was willing, she immediately took out the tools from her medical kit.

Seeing her actions, Ye Shang thought for a moment and said, "Wait a minute, let me try to force it out."

These black threads were somewhat indistinguishable as to what they were, but they kept writhing in the severed flesh.

Ye Shang couldn't help but think of something and felt a wave of nausea. She placed Qingying on his waist and gently made a cut with her sword. Strangely, no blood flowed out; instead, it looked like a gash had been made.

Then, the energy transmitted from his hand flowed along the sword and into the blade. The sword gleamed with a bluish light, and something was clearly beginning to flow from the wound on the severed calf.

Ye Shang frowned and said to Ah Xiang, "Stay away from me."

Upon hearing this, Ah Xiang took several steps back and walked behind Ye Shang, but her eyes remained fixed on the wound.

A cyan light entered his body and slowly traveled down to his waist, as if cleaning something.

Long, black threads were forced out of the wound, and they were still wriggling on the ground.

When Ye Shang saw it, she looked disgusted. It wasn't even a living organism; it was just a type of bacteria. She had seen it before in a swamp on the Xuan Tian Continent, but it was different from these.

The bacteria in that swamp were larger and not as fine.

She unleashed energy directly from her left hand, burning everything to ashes. The fire was infused with elements of darkness, and a ring of black patterns surrounded the flames.

When it hit those long, thin black threads, it was almost instantly annihilated.

Without even leaving any ash, several minutes later, after Qingying forced all the black silk from the man's body out, the fire continued to burn.

The black silk threads flowed into the flames, crackling and popping as they burned until they were completely extinguished, at which point the flames gradually died down.

Ye Shang lightly traced lines on the man's legs, and seeing that blood was being forced out, he asked Ah Xiang to check again: "Check again to see if there is any of that stuff left in his body."

After she moved Qingying away, the area that Qingying had cut had healed perfectly.

Ah Xiang had been staring blankly at all of this, finding it utterly miraculous, but she snapped out of her daze when she heard Ye Shang's words: "Ah, oh, okay."

As she spoke, she stepped forward and attached her supernatural power to him, beginning her examination. After a short while, she smiled and said, "Captain Ye, it's gone. He doesn't have that thing in his body anymore. I've also healed his leg. He just needs to rest for one night."

Ye Shang nodded: "Yes, take him to the tent with Wang Xin."

Han Yi had been watching the whole thing from the same spot. He already had a deep respect for Ye Shang, and now he felt even more awe for him. He immediately called the two of them over, and together they escorted the man to Wang Xin's tent.

"Captain Ye, what is this thing? When I was examining Zhang Ming, I noticed that the flesh and blood in his legs were slowly decreasing." Ah Xiang asked Ye Shang in confusion.

Ye Shang walked to the soft chair she had been sitting on and thought for a moment before saying, "It's something like bacteria, only it's materialized. It seems there are so many things in this river."

Ah Xiang nodded, "I see. I thought it was some kind of monster."

Her own healing ability is considered high-level in the base, and she even has the ability to heal small wounds instantly, but so far she has not been able to regrow severed areas.

Generally, as long as there are any remaining severed limbs, giving them to her will also heal the wounds without leaving any trace; this is the healing ability.

The next morning.

Ye Shang did not rest in the tent, but sat on a soft chair by the river the whole time, leaning back slightly and closing his eyes to rest.

Given her current level of cultivation, she would be perfectly fine even without rest, and would still be very energetic.

Han Yi called her over for dinner. The logistics department had made noodles and soy milk today, which were filling and enough for many people.

Ye Shang also went forward and got a large bowl, which he then placed on the table next to the soft chair and began to eat slowly.

Wang Xin is in much better condition today. His wrist feels a little numb, and Ah Xiang says it's almost completely healed.

In fact, Wang Xin still had some concerns that after Captain Ye returned, he would transfer him to another branch or stay at the base to work in the post-production department.

None of this was his choice. Everyone was willing to come out with Ye Shang because not only could they keep their lives safe, but also because the mission points were enough for them to live on for a long time. Moreover, Ye Shang never forbade them from bringing back things to exchange for points.

You don't have to hand over everything. As long as you don't go too far, Ye Shang won't interfere. Qing Li once said that wherever there are people, there will always be those who line their own pockets, but as long as it's not too outrageous, those in power will usually see things differently depending on the situation.

Ye Shang naturally understood this principle, so every time she went out, the people she brought with her would hand over most of what they had gained during the mission when they returned, but they would also leave a little bit behind.

Ye Shang knew all this in his heart; as long as it wasn't too much, he would let them stay.

The base also has organizations that collect items brought back by mission takers from the outer gate, such as genetic information related to food, the remains of strange monsters, or mutated plants and animals that have been hunted.

Except for the crystal cores, all of these can be brought back and exchanged for points at the base.

This is one of the reasons why many people are willing to go out on missions; there are many dangers outside, but there are also many opportunities.
