Chapter 35 Hell on Earth

A hint of warmth appeared in Xie Qingye's eyes. "So, Captain Zhou, how about trying a different job?"

Zhou Yi'an looked surprised, "This..."

Xie Qingye understood his expression and nodded slightly: "In that case, I'll go up first."

Zhou Yi'an's expression showed only surprise and no other emotion, indicating that he understood the meaning of his words, and his expression even showed some anticipation.

After Xie Qingye turned around, a hint of mockery flashed across his face. Those people thought they could rob someone? Dream on.

Xie Qingyuan grinned, looking like a big, goofy guy. "Captain Zhou, if you become the base commander, what should I call you? Base Commander Zhou? Hahahaha."

Zhou Yi'an's palms were sweating. "There are so many people at the base, what if..."

Xie Qingyuan tilted his head: "Even if it happens, I'm not afraid. At worst, it's a long and arduous journey. In this day and age, who can find it?"

Zhou Yi felt relieved, but then his mind started to race again, because Ye Shang hadn't appeared, and Xie Qingye was holding a sword. "Wasn't it said that only Ye Shang could use this sword?"

Xie Qingyuan followed his gaze and said, "No, everyone can use it. It's just a matter of whether it will hurt people."

My older brother used it to cut vegetables before. Although it had killed zombies, it was very easy and convenient to cut ribs and the like. Moreover, they all knew that Qingying was very clean. Every time it killed a zombie, it would not leave a trace. And it liked my older brother the most because he would often wash it with water.

Xie Qingye held Qingying in her hand. "Let's go, Captain Zhou."

Zhou Yi'an walked to the side and couldn't sense anything unusual about the sword. It was just like an ordinary sword. Was it as exaggerated as Han Yi said?

When they arrived at the conference room, less than half an hour had passed. Everyone was eating in the conference room. His meals were comparable to those before the apocalypse. Everyone ate to their heart's content, each holding a glass of red wine.

When they saw Xie Qingye again, they were a little surprised that he was a boy instead of a girl, but when they saw the sword in his hand, they all smiled.

I knew it! How could a bunch of kids possibly withstand the military power of the entire base? Besides, there are so many superhumans who could make them all disappear with a single command.

Xie Qingye placed Qingying on the conference table and looked around the entire conference room. There were about twenty people in total, and it seemed that the most important leaders of the base were all here.

Han Yi, standing to the side, kept his head down, not daring to look up. He felt as if he had betrayed them. Although many people had seen and knew about this, it was he who reported it.

Wang Huan hurriedly ordered someone to bring Qingying forward. Just as he was about to reach out and grab it, in a flash, the blade of Qingying emitted a blue light. With a flash of blue light, half of Wang Huan's body was severed.

It all happened in an instant; many people in the conference room hadn't even reacted until Wang Huan's blood gushed out, covering the conference table and chairs in blood.

Wang Huan's eyes were also wide with disbelief, but unfortunately, it was too late for him to speak.

The young woman to his left screamed and instinctively used her supernatural power to strike. One vine after another flew towards Qingying, but unfortunately, they were all cut down one by one.

Light Shadow swept around, and sure enough, except for Han Yi who had already run out, the entire conference room was cut in half. Their superpowers were useless against Light Shadow, which was a sword, impervious to water and fire, and capable of cutting through iron like mud.

Not to mention, it's a divine weapon that came from the cultivation world.

Xie Qingye had already pulled Zhou Yi'an out; the scene inside was like hell on earth.

Every single one of them was eliminated from the First Base and came to create the Fifth Base. Even if they copied everything from the First Base, the people were not the same.

They forgot the panic of the early days of the apocalypse. From the moment they were flattered and offered women and supplies, they lost their former fear and were left only with the desires of those in power.

Through layers of exploitation and gradual depletion, the base's resources were essentially entirely under their control.

In the ordinary people's area, life was even more miserable than hell on earth. They couldn't get enough to eat or wear, children were treated as useless objects, and women were traded and consumed as commodities.

The apparent peace only exists on the side of the superpowered individuals.

It wasn't until Qingying burst through the door and stood swaying beside Xie Qingye that the three realized it was over...

Xie Qingye kept pouring water on Qingying, whose sword was spotless, and Qingying rolled the sword several times in the air as if she were taking a bath.

"Captain Zhou, Vice Captain Han, the rest is up to you. We're just ordinary ability users." Xie Qingye smiled. "By the way, we hope that the upcoming Fifth Base can become a true sanctuary for humanity, instead of the West District as it is now."

Zhou Yi'an clenched his fists, suppressing his intense emotions: "I understand."

He will rebuild the Fifth Base and abolish some unnecessary systems.

"Han Yi, you have to help me." Zhou Yi'an patted Han Yi on the shoulder.

Han Yi's lips twitched. This old fox was still trying to drag him onto the boat: "I will."
