Brand held his wine glass, gently swirling the liquid inside, a slight smile playing on his lips: "Not to be underestimated."
The four simple words made everyone standing there look up at the sky, at the image that lingered in their minds for a long time.
The Eastern Continent is already ridiculously strong; if some people with no prior knowledge of it were to come and help them, things might not be so easy.
The king frowned slightly, not because he didn't believe Brand's words, but because he was wondering what the current strategy should be, aside from the cities and lands they had already occupied.
They haven't even really come into contact with any human settlements; they're currently occupying areas that the Eastern Continent has already abandoned, which makes the king somewhat resentful.
"Send word to Duke Michel to come to the Eastern Continent."
The soldier beside him bowed slightly: "Yes."
Duke Wayne asked, "Your Majesty, Duke Michel has come to the Eastern Continent. Who will guard the overseas territories?"
The king tilted his head slightly and looked down at him. "What do you think?"
The already tall and strong king looked at Wayne, who was a head shorter than him, with a chilling look in his eyes.
Wayne lowered his head slightly and tentatively asked, "How about letting my family serve you?"
A mocking glint flashed in the king's eyes. Just as he had thought. Then he chuckled and patted Wayne on the shoulder: "Your family is full of talented people. You should stay on the battlefield and make more contributions."
Wayne was a little stunned; this didn't match his expectations.
Then the king said, "Brand, you are seriously injured this time. Go back and guard the area."
Brand placed the wine glass in his hand on the plate beside him, where several slaves were always waiting to serve him with plates.
He lowered his eyes and said calmly, "Whatever His Majesty the King says, Brand will do."
The king was one of the people who knew Brand quite well. He knew that Brand always spoke in this tone and manner, and he didn't mind. Brand was still useful to him, so he had to keep him.
As for the Wayne family, this family, relying on its power, often interfered with his decisions.
Overseas, promotions are based entirely on military merit. As long as more members of the Wayne family survive, they will be rewarded accordingly. How many people survive in the next battle is not a concern for the king.
When Wayne heard about the king's arrangement, he felt a little resentful and glared at Brand several times.
Brand, however, seemed oblivious to his gaze and continued talking to the king.
After Wayne and the others left, the only people present were the slaves, the king, and Brand.
Brand then said, "Your Majesty, won't this arrangement displease the Wayne family?"
The king took a cup of wine from a slave beside him and drank it all in one gulp.
"It won't be easy to clean up this family, but now we have a good excuse."
The Wayne family was a powerful noble family before the apocalypse. When the king overthrew the world, the Wayne family even rebelled, wanting to become king themselves.
Finally, the king had too many superhumans following him, which suppressed their ambitions. Wayne's father at the time was killed by the current king.
If it weren't for the large amount of supplies that Wayne offered, and the fact that the entire family had to obey the king's every command, they might have been wiped out by the current king.
In the early days of the apocalypse, at the beginning of global chaos, the first person to organize a powerful force will naturally reap the sweetest rewards.
Brand chuckled softly, "Your Majesty, my return to guard the main camp might not be of much use, but rest assured, as long as you inform me, I will return here as soon as possible."
This is the function of Brand's little hut: he can instantly reach any place he has been through the hut, as long as no one can find its existence.
The king knew that he had a secret ability to travel through space to various places, which was one of the reasons he sent Brand back.
However, the scroll in the sky lingered for a long time, as if it were foreshadowing something.
Watching this scene from afar, Ye Shang said calmly, "You orchestrated this?"
A gate to the dark realm stood beside her, the blackness within its frame twisting into the words: "Not me, but this world."
Ye Shang raised an eyebrow after reading it, looked up at the sky, and then calmly said, "Transfer the energy you have collected to me."
The gate to the dark realm paused for a moment, then, as if forced into a corner, the darkness within the gate frame gradually accelerated its distortion, continuously transmitting energy to Ye Shang.
It had painstakingly collected its energy, intending to give only a little to its owner, but she asked for it, so it couldn't hide it anymore.
Ye Shang stopped them only after they had almost hollowed out the Dark Realm Gate: "That's enough."
After saying that, she sat cross-legged on the rooftop, absorbing this enormous energy from the Dark Realm Gate, which instantly activated her previously dormant dantian.
Countless energies flowed through her dantian, cleansing every meridian. Her face was somewhat distorted, and the strands of hair tied behind her back fluttered wildly.
Her spiritual realm has broken through to a new level; she has reached the Great Perfection of Mahayana Buddhism.
In the instant it shattered, the painting in the sky disappeared, the mirage in people's eyes vanished, and everyone witnessed that magical scene disappear into the sky.
The next moment, the sky was covered by large patches of dark clouds, and it suddenly became dark.
Those inside the base might not be able to see this strange scene, but almost everyone not far from Z City was experiencing it firsthand, watching the terrifying sky.
As if something was pressing down, Ye Shang's figure gradually rose into the air. At this moment, her figure looked extremely small in the center of the world.
