Chapter 75 Entering the Forest
"Ah!" A scream shattered the tranquility of the forest.
Meng Qiulan's right leg was trapped, and the barbs pierced her flesh. She couldn't help but cry out.
Ye Shang reacted quickly, swiftly slicing off all the green vines that were wrapped around her legs.
Meng Qiulan rushed to her cousin's side. Her legs were covered in blood and flesh, and cold sweat was pouring down her forehead, but she still gritted her teeth and endured it.
"This pothos not only corrodes, it can also pierce right through..." Meng Qiulan analyzed somewhat tentatively.
Liang You watched as Ye Shang hacked away at the ever-surging green vines with his sword and said in a deep voice, "Yes, we see them."
He didn't have many talismans left, so he took out his weapon, a folded military knife, held it in his hand, and helped Meng Qiulan up: "Let's go first, don't hold us back."
Qingli was also constantly releasing his supernatural abilities, using ice spikes, ice arrows, flames, and lightning—all powerful attacks—in combination.
He stood firmly behind Ye Shang, his eyes cold, his well-defined knuckles pointing to the ground again. The earth rose up, layer upon layer, shielding the two of them from Green Ivy's attacks.
He flicked his wrist upwards, and in a moment the spatial blade he squeezed out flew towards the green vines, severing everything in its path.
Ye Shang, carrying Qingying, chopped for a short while, then shook his wrist and said, "This one is probably of a higher level than the ones we encountered before. I plan to go straight into its lair and see if I can kill it directly."
Despite Qingli's various tactics, the two were basically unaffected.
"Okay, I...I'll go too." Qingli slammed on the brakes. He had meant to say, "I'll go with you," but thankfully he stopped in time.
Ye Shang had no objections. During this period, he basically followed her wherever she went. Even when she went to collect supplies, he followed behind and watched her collect them.
So sometimes she would leave some for him to keep himself.
The two attacked the green ivy as they went inside.
They moved quickly and soon reached the center of the woods, occasionally stepping on bones and tattered clothing along the way.
Ye Shang frowned, his eyes sharp. A wisp of sword energy swept across, directly shattering many of the green vines.
Qingli used his special ability to continuously block the oncoming green ivy, and he followed beside Ye Shang.
Before long, the two entered the depths of the forest, where very little sunlight penetrated, making the whole place somewhat dim.
Strangely, the lush greenery that had been everywhere just moments before shrank back in this place, as if it dared not step into it at all.
Then, a tiger's roar echoed through the forest, causing quite a stir, but it wasn't birds, but other creatures, such as the flying insects that appeared in front of the two of them, but they only made a brief appearance before disappearing in a hurry.
Ye Shang gripped Qingying tightly, a cold glint flashing in her eyes. Her voice was deep and resonant: "Stay behind me and don't come any closer."
The runes on the black robe flowed and rippled like water.
Qingli took two steps back, using his earth-elemental abilities to create a thick earthen wall that perfectly protected his back. He tugged at her wide sleeves and said, "Be careful."
Ye Shang responded, took two steps forward, and flew directly towards the source of the sound, slashing out with a bright blue light. The sword energy he unleashed transformed into streaks of blue light that slashed into the depths.
