Chapter 85: The Pig in Captivity

Chapter 85: The Pig in Captivity

The man waved his hand behind him, and many people carrying hoes, as well as sticks and machetes, appeared. These were clearly people who had not awakened any special abilities.

The woman standing next to the leading man raised her hand and released a lot of water.

Qingli chuckled and casually waved her hand, changing the direction of the water's flow.

They headed towards that group of people.

A series of exclamations rang out.

"These are people with superpowers."

They heard all of this from passersby, and only the woman among them had awakened supernatural abilities.

None of the others awakened; even if they mutated, they became zombies.

The reason is that whether you're a superhuman or an ordinary person passing by, there's only one outcome.

Perhaps it was their digestive system that was faulty, or perhaps it was a punishment from heaven, but in any case, only this woman who hadn't eaten much awakened her supernatural abilities.

Many people regret wanting superpowers, but they can't stand hunger.

There was no food on the mountain; they had stripped all the edible tree bark off the trees. Not to mention, it was so dangerous outside, full of zombies.

The road was full of them, and they dared not leave the village at all. Fortunately, this village was a place they had to pass through.

A number of young and strong men carrying hoes and machetes attacked the group.

Qingli struck the entire area with a lightning bolt, causing them all to collapse. Since water conducts electricity, the woman who was releasing the water dared not release any more.

This is the difference between people with superpowers and ordinary people.

How could anyone not envy someone who could handle forces of dozens or even hundreds with a wave of their hand?

The woman was also electrocuted and fell to the ground. She weakly said, "Please spare me. I've hardly eaten anything. Even if I did eat, I ended up vomiting it all up."

She cherished her superpower, and she also knew why those people couldn't awaken their superpowers. Unfortunately, their attack power wasn't enough, so they could only be ordered around by these people.

She continued, "I know where those people are, and some of them are being supported."

There's nothing refrigerated right now, so if we kill them all, they'll spoil.

So I basically keep them all.

Ye Shang glanced at her, summoned Qingying, and swung his sword at the stone wall beside him. The wall was cleaved open, and all the stones shattered into fragments.

The people not far away were all shocked, but they were all unable to move.

Ye Shang glanced at the woman, then used his sword to cut through the water currents on the ground, separating her from him: "Lead the way."

When the four were led to a house at the very back of the village, a foul stench emanated from it.

Qingli wrinkled the pen tip somewhat awkwardly, and tugged at Ye Shang's sleeve: "Ah Shang, it smells awful."

Ye Shang glanced at his hand; he was becoming more and more fond of tugging at her sleeve. She said to the woman, "Open the door and let me see."

The chains were opened, revealing several people bound by iron chains inside. Their cheeks were sunken, their bodies were thin, and their faces showed indifference to life and death.

They all knew their fate was sealed and had long since lost the strength to resist.

The woman also came in, covering her nose. Seeing the few people outside, she had no choice but to run water to rinse the floors and walls, at least to reduce the stench.

Ye Shang didn't go in. Instead, he said, "Move all those people out. Make sure no one dies, or the person who dies will suffer the same fate as you."

The woman's face twitched. She was the most honest of them all, and she usually ate the food she had hidden away in secret. She was the thinnest person in the whole village.

She was afraid that one day she wouldn't be able to endure it, and after she ate meat with those people, her superpowers would disappear, and she would become food herself. So she always lived cautiously.
