Chapter Forty-Nine: Looking for Me?

Lin Fan looked up and saw a middle-aged man in a black suit walk in. The man was tall and had an extraordinary bearing; he was clearly no ordinary person.

"Who are you?" Lin Fan asked warily.

"I am Ye Zhengxiong, Ye Yuyan's father," the man said bluntly.

"Uncle Ye?" Lin Fan was taken aback. He hadn't expected Ye Yuyan's father to suddenly come looking for him.

"You know my daughter?" Ye Zhengxiong walked to the bedside, looking down at Lin Fan with sharp, piercing eyes.

“Yes, Yu Yan and I are friends.” Lin Fan nodded.

"Friends?" Ye Zhengxiong sneered. "My daughter is missing now, did you know that?"

"What?!" Lin Fan sat up abruptly, aggravating his wound and causing him to gasp in pain.

"Yu Yan is missing? How is that possible?!" Lin Fan asked incredulously. "She...didn't she go to the antique shop?"

"Antique shop?" Ye Zhengxiong frowned. "What's she doing at the antique shop?"

Lin Fan told Ye Zhengxiong about Ye Yuyan's trip to the antique shop to look for clues about the badge.

"Badge? What badge?" Ye Zhengxiong pressed.

Lin Fan hesitated for a moment, then revealed everything about the badge. Now was not the time to hide it; Ye Yuyan's disappearance might be related to this badge.

After listening to Lin Fan's account, Ye Zhengxiong's face became even more gloomy.

"So, Yu Yan disappeared while investigating your family's secrets?" Ye Zhengxiong's voice was icy cold.

"I..." Lin Fan was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to explain.

"Lin Fan, I don't care who you are or what secrets you have."

Ye Zhengxiong approached Lin Fan step by step, his eyes filled with anger and killing intent.

"All I know is that my daughter has gone missing because of you! If anything happens to her, I will never let you get away with this!"

"Uncle Ye, you've misunderstood!" Lin Fan quickly explained, "Yu Yan's disappearance really has nothing to do with me. I only just found out myself. More than anyone else, I want her to be safe and sound!"

"Misunderstanding?" Ye Zhengxiong sneered. "Do you think I'd believe your nonsense?"

"I'm not lying!" Lin Fan said urgently. "I can swear on my life that Yu Yan's disappearance really has nothing to do with me!"

"Your life?" Ye Zhengxiong curled his lip in disdain. "Your life is worthless in my eyes! All I want to know now is where my daughter is!"

"I really don't know..." Lin Fan felt a sense of helplessness.

"You don't know?" Ye Zhengxiong grabbed Lin Fan by the collar and lifted him off the hospital bed. "Say it again, you don't know?!"

"Cough cough..." Lin Fan was so choked that he couldn't breathe, and his face turned red.

"Uncle Ye, please calm down!" Lin Fan said with difficulty. "Yu Yan is missing, and I'm very worried, but your actions won't help!"

"It's no use!" Ye Zhengxiong roared. "My daughter's life is hanging in the balance, how can you expect me to stay calm?!"

"Uncle Ye! Let me go first, let's talk this over!"

Ye Zhengxiong's arm veins were bulging, clearly indicating that he was extremely angry!

"Talk? What right do you have to talk to me?!"

"What are you doing?!"

Just as tensions were about to rise, a clear and anxious voice suddenly came from the doorway.

It was Lin Yue!

She originally planned to continue searching for her brother Lin Fan's diary to uncover the secrets of her family.

Anxious and worried, Lin Yue rushed to the hospital and witnessed Lin Zhengxiong assaulting Lin Fan.

"you?"

Ye Zhengxiong was slightly taken aback when he saw Lin Yue's familiar face.

He calmed his anger slightly, but still did not let go of Lin Fan.

"Uncle, let go of Brother Lin Fan! Sister Yu Yan's disappearance has nothing to do with him!"

Lin Yue rushed forward, trying to pull Ye Zhengxiong away.

"It's okay? You're too naive! Do you even know anything about this Lin Fan...?"

Ye Zhengxiong wanted to say something, but Lin Yue interrupted him.

"Uncle, I believe in Brother Lin Fan! Sister Yu Yan believes in him too! You're only making things worse by doing this!"

Lin Yue's voice was trembling with sobs.

Looking into Lin Yue's determined eyes, Ye Zhengxiong's anger subsided slightly.

He slowly released his grip, and Lin Fan fell back onto the hospital bed, coughing violently.

"Brother Lin Fan, are you alright?" Lin Yue quickly helped Lin Fan up and asked with concern.

"I...I'm fine." Lin Fan shook his head and looked at Ye Zhengxiong. "Uncle Ye, I understand how you feel, but please believe me, Yu Yan's disappearance really has nothing to do with me. I will do everything I can to help you find Yu Yan."

Ye Zhengxiong didn't speak, but just stared coldly at Lin Fan.

"Our most important task right now is to find Sister Yuyan, not to blame each other here," Lin Yue advised. "Brother Lin Fan is also injured, so please let him rest."

Ye Zhengxiong was silent for a moment before finally speaking, "Alright, I can believe you for now. But if I find out that you have anything to do with Yu Yan's disappearance, I will never let you go, even if I have to chase you to the ends of the earth!"

After saying that, Ye Zhengxiong turned and left the ward.

Lin Yue watched her uncle's departing figure, her heart filled with worry.

"Brother Lin Fan, are you alright..." Lin Yue said apologetically.

“It’s alright, I understand Uncle Ye’s feelings.” Lin Fan shook his head. “I’m also very worried about Yu Yan’s disappearance. We must find her as soon as possible.”

"Yes!" Lin Yue nodded. "I've already sent people to investigate, and I believe we'll have news soon."

“Oh right, that badge…” Lin Fan suddenly remembered something, “Yu Yan went to the antique shop to look for clues about this badge, maybe we can start from here.”

"A badge?" Lin Yue was taken aback. "What badge?"

Lin Fan told Lin Yue about the badge.

"You mean, this badge might be related to our family's secrets?" Lin Yue asked in surprise.

“Yes.” Lin Fan nodded. “Yu Yan disappeared while investigating this badge. This is definitely not a coincidence.”

"So what do we do now?" Lin Yue asked.

"We must find clues about this badge as soon as possible; perhaps we can find Yu Yan's whereabouts."

Lin Fan said, "The antique shop owner said that the badge was found on the black market for antiques in a remote town. We can go there and take a look."

“Okay, let’s go right away!” Lin Yue said without hesitation.

“But your injuries…” Lin Yue looked at the wounds on Lin Fan’s body and was a little worried.

"I'm fine, this injury is nothing," Lin Fan said. "Saving Yu Yan is the priority, we can't delay any longer."

“Alright then, let’s go together,” Lin Yue said.

The two left the hospital and drove to that remote town.

The two remained silent throughout the journey, creating a very tense atmosphere.
