The next day, Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun went to the post office together. Before they even reached the post office, they were startled by the large lock on the door.
The two exchanged a glance.
"Hahaha……"
Lin Qing was amused by her own words. She laughed and leaned on Gu Nanxun, "I forgot, it's only the second day of the Lunar New Year, the post office isn't open yet!"
Gu Nanxun reached out to support Lin Qing, afraid she would fall. "Yes! The post office usually doesn't reopen until the eighth day of the lunar new year. Let's go back!"
Helpless, the two carried the things back. Dong Xiulan was watching Gu Nianqing in the house when she saw the two carrying things back, so she asked curiously, "Didn't you go to the post office? Why did you bring the things back?"
"Mom, have you forgotten what day of the month it is today?"
Lin Qing placed the things in her hands on the table and said to Dong Xiulan.
"Elementary school? Isn't today the second day of the Lunar New Year?" Dong Xiulai paused for a moment after saying that, then came to her senses and said, "Look at me, I've gone crazy. The post office is closed on the second day of the Lunar New Year, so let's just leave the things here and mail them after the eighth day!"
During the Lunar New Year, the two had nothing to do, and Lin Qing had no friends to see. They sat at the table staring at each other. Lin Qing would look at Gu Nianqing for a while, and then at the dazed Gu Nanxun. Suddenly, she had a bright idea. She then put her mouth close to Gu Nanxun's ear and whispered, "Come on, Brother Xun, we haven't done any charity work this year!"
Lin Qing's act of charity was to deliver supplies to the border guards. Last year, she and Gu Nanxun drove their hovercar all over the country and delivered food to many border guards. They haven't gone yet this year because they went home!
Gu Nanxun nodded upon hearing this. "Shall we go now?"
"Okay, let's go now, we have nothing else to do anyway!" Lin Qing said after thinking for a moment. They used to go at night, but it's not good for them to go out at night now. However, they can go during the day, but they need to wear invisibility talismans the whole time.
So for the next few days, Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun traveled all over the country, sending out batch after batch of grain, allowing batch after batch of people to have a happy New Year.
During this time, Lin Yunfeng and Zhao Xi discussed their plans and decided to get married. Since they were at home at the time, they decided to hold a simple wedding. Lin Jianguo and Dong Xiulan invited their close friends and set up a few tables at home. After Lin Yunfeng and Dong Xiulan returned to Chaoyang Brigade, they would go directly to get their marriage certificate and then set up a few more tables.
Because the two decided to get married on short notice, they were in a rush. In order to leave Zhao Xi with a beautiful memory, Dong Xiulan made a wedding dress for Zhao Xi overnight. It was a red dress and pants made of bright red cloth, which was provided by Lin Qing.
On the morning of the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains into Lin Yunfeng and Zhao Xi's respective rooms. The two rose early to prepare for this special day. Lin Yunfeng wore a neat suit, while Zhao Xi wore a simple red wedding dress that Dong Xiulan had hastily made overnight; though simple, it exuded warmth and happiness.
Although the wedding preparations were rushed, Lin's relatives and friends all came to offer their blessings to the newlyweds. Several tables were set up in the courtyard. Although not as luxurious as those in a hotel, each table was laden with sumptuous dishes, all cooked by Dong Xiulan herself, filled with the taste of home.
Standing in the courtyard, Lin Jianguo, as the parent, beamed with pride and joy. Looking at his son Lin Yunfeng and daughter-in-law Zhao Xi, he was filled with emotion. He had three sons and one daughter, but he hadn't expected that his two youngest children would be the first to get married. Was it a family tradition to start with the youngest children getting married?
As the wedding began, Lin Jianguo spoke first. His voice trembled, but it was full of strength: "Today, thank you all for being here to witness the wedding of my son Lin Yunfeng and daughter-in-law Zhao Xi. They have withstood the test of time and finally come together. I hope they can spend their future days hand in hand, supporting and understanding each other in both good times and bad."
Then, Lin Yunfeng and Zhao Xi exchanged vows. The usually carefree Zhao Xi had tears glistening in her eyes as she held Lin Yunfeng's hand tightly. The two of them had only each other in their eyes.
After the wedding, the guests left, and the Lin family returned to peace. Lin Yunfeng and Zhao Xi sat in the courtyard, enjoying this rare tranquility. They knew that this was only the beginning of their new life, and that there was still a long road ahead.
Meanwhile, Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun were also busy. They had been traveling all over the country for several days, bringing warmth to the border guards. Today, they decided to take a day off to attend Lin Yunfeng and Zhao Xi's wedding.
At the wedding, Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun watched the happy newlyweds, their hearts filled with emotion. Lin Qing held Gu Nanxun's hand tightly, recalling their own wedding day. She smiled gently at him, and Gu Nanxun returned her smile.
After the wedding, Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun returned to their room. Gu Nanxun looked at Lin Qing, his eyes filled with love: "Qingqing, I'm sorry I couldn't give you a lavish wedding."
Lin Qing smiled and shook her head: "How could I feel wronged? You forgot that your bicycle team is also very luxurious. You have already given me the most luxurious wedding right now."
They smiled at each other, their hearts filled with anticipation and hope for the future. They knew that as long as there was love in their hearts, they would find happiness and warmth wherever they went.
...
It's already the eighth day of the lunar new year, and Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun have booked a train to Beijing for that day.
Early in the morning, Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun prepared their things and then carried Gu Nianqing. Lin Jianguo and Lin Yunfeng took them to the station. Only Lin Qing and Gu Nanxun were going to Beijing this time. Lin Yunfeng and Zhao Xi stayed at home and would return to the black market after the Lantern Festival.
After a commotion, the two of them finally boarded the train, carrying Gu Nianqing in their arms. Lin Qing wiped the sweat from her forehead and said, "It's only the New Year, why are there so many people on the train!"
Gu Nanxun shook his head and put his things away. After putting his things away, Gu Nanxun sat on his bed and reached out to take Gu Nianqing from Lin Qing's arms.
"Let's rest for a while! It won't be until noon tomorrow to get to Beijing from here."
Lin Qing nodded, then leaned against the bed and watched with a tender expression as Gu Nanxun read the comic book to Gu Nianqing.
