Chapter 67: Craving for this tender bite

Then, possessed by a spirit of drama, she hugged Ling Jiheng's arm and shook him, "Husband, I'm sorry. If Chen Jintao hadn't had dirty thoughts about you, I wouldn't have hit her."

"I promise, this is the last time. Just promise me that you'll give half of the rice porridge to the Chen family as an apology!"

Ling Jiheng's face was gloomy and he looked at Chi Xingyue without saying a word.

Chi Xingyue was truly guilty, fearing that the other party would stop her from doing something bad. "My husband, I was also impulsive. There are so many men in the Chen family. What if they bully me while you're away?"

The man from the Chen family thought the medicine was ready and was about to come in to serve it when he heard Chi Xingyue complaining.

Everyone was so angry that their faces turned red. "Young lady, please don't make false accusations. How could our Chen family go against a girl like you? Even if you have a quarrel with the Jintao sisters, we will never bully the weak with our numbers."

Chi Xingyue shuddered deliberately, as if she was recoiling, and hid behind Ling Jiheng.

Ling Jiheng sighed, grabbed Chi Xingyue's arm and dragged her to him, saying with a guilty look on his face, "I'm sorry, everyone. Xingyue is young and she speaks and acts impulsively."

The Chen family man thought he was going to default on his debt and was about to make trouble when he heard Ling Jiheng sigh: "Since she agreed, I can't go back on my word."

As he said this, he took a large porcelain bowl from the cupboard and placed it on the stove.

Ling Jiheng found a spoon, stirred it in the clay pot, and then scooped out most of it. He handed it to the man from the Chen family with both hands: "Please forgive me!"

Seeing Ling Jiheng's sincerity, the Chen family man felt a little better. However, he was a little greedy and wanted to take the pot away.

Ling Jiheng refused, saying that his elders had not eaten yet.

After some discussion, they added half a spoonful of dried meat into the Chen family's porcelain bowl, and then asked Chi Xingyue to carry the pottery jar with only the bottom left to deliver it to the old man and the old lady.

The Chen family had suspected that there was something fishy going on, but who would waste food during a famine just to mess with a few unrelated strangers?

What's more, they saw with their own eyes that Chi Xingyue entered the old lady's room, and came out a few seconds later with the clay pot empty.

Through the crack in the door, I could see the women of the Ling family drinking porridge from bowls. So, there must be nothing wrong with these things.

But they didn't know that the moment Chi Xingyue went upstairs, he replaced the problematic rice porridge in the ceramic pot with mushroom and chicken porridge.

When she came out of the old lady's room, she deliberately did not close the door, so that even if the Chen family had diarrhea, it would not be her fault.

Chi Xingyue hurried back to the kitchen and found that it was full of smoke and looked like it was on fire.

After calling Ling Jiheng twice, I learned from the man that it was because of the wet firewood.

All the doors and windows of the kitchen were open, and thick smoke was pouring out.

Seeing that Ling Jiheng didn't come out, Chi Xingyue found a wet cloth, covered his mouth and nose with it, and rushed in.

When we got inside, we found that Ling Jiheng had a window to himself and was not affected by the thick smoke.

"I'm back!" His voice was cold, as if he was angry.

Chi Xingyue could hardly move and lowered his head guiltily.

Ling Jiheng stared at Chi Xingyue steadily for a few seconds before pulling her over and pressing her next to the stove, signaling her to hurry up if she wanted to do anything.

Chi Xingyue grinned, took out more than twenty eggs from the space, put them in a ceramic pot, added water and boiled them.

Then take out the noodles that have been soaked into a paste, wrap them in gauze, and wash them in water.

I thought since I couldn’t make noodles with pancakes, I might as well make some cold noodles, which would at least be a snack.

Chi Xingyue worked very quickly, and with Ling Jiheng's help, it only took the two of them more than half an hour to make the dough.

I didn't add any seasoning, just cut it and put it in a bowl.

He glanced around and saw a wilted old cucumber in the basket, so he sank his consciousness into space, picked out a few fresh cucumbers from the kitchen, used a grater to cut them into long green strips, and put them in a bowl for later use.

Chi Xingyue thought that the Ling family had not supplemented their vitamins along the way, so she picked a bunch of Sunshine Roses from the vineyard.

It is not clear whether there are grapes in Dayong Dynasty, but Chi Xingyue has no intention of taking them out directly.

Cut it into small fruits and put them in a bowl. At first glance, they look very astringent.

Because the grapes are compact, each one isn't particularly round, which suggests they have potential as wild fruits.

Chi Xingyue put it in a handy place for later use. Seeing that there was nothing else to do, she boiled a pot of water on the stove, and went upstairs with Ling Jiheng carrying the noodles, bowls, and pottery jars.

The two of them looked calm, but by chance they ran into Gao Hongbin who came out to investigate the situation.

Mr. Gao was very curious about Ling Jiheng's cooking skills, so he glanced at the clay pot and saw that it was filled with water, and curled his lips in disgust.

He glanced at the bowl that Chi Xingyue was holding and found that it contained food he had never seen before, so he asked a few questions.

Then I picked up a piece of dough and put it in my mouth, but found that it tasted bland and I lost interest.

He waved his hand and asked the two to leave.

Chi Xingyue nodded, walked out a few steps, stuffed two upside-down empty bowls with cucumber shreds, and then knocked on the door of the house where the old man was.

"Grandfather, my husband and I made some food for you to eat. There's water boiling on the stove in the kitchen. I'll have Ji Yi and Ji Hao fetch some water later so you and the uncles can wash it."

Ling Youda nodded and looked at Chi Xingyue expectantly. Chi Xingyue opened the bowl, revealing the translucent and chewy dough inside.

Not knowing what this was, the men from the Ling family didn't say anything.

Chi Xingyue picked up some cucumber shreds from another bowl, then took out a seasoning jar from the package, sprinkled it into the dough, and mixed it. His appetite immediately came back.

"Mmm, it smells good, where did you get it, sister-in-law?"

"Seasoning? I bought it from the chef!"

Chi Xingyue lowered his voice and said, "The master repeatedly ordered me not to expose him.

We don't know how long we'll be here, and we might even need to rely on others for care. Just keep this in mind, and don't tell anyone."

Everyone in the Ling family nodded and looked at Chi Xingyue expectantly.

Chi Xingyue handed the chopsticks to the old man, fished out a dozen eggs from the pottery jar, and took a dozen grapes from the package before leaving with Ling Jiheng.

When I came to the old lady, I heard the same thing.

The old lady was so moved that her eyes filled with tears. God knows how much she craved this fresh and tender bite.

Gu Youlian wanted to come up and grab it, but was restrained by Wan Chunqin.

The old lady was furious and said, "Youlian, if you dare to eat one more bite today, you will no longer be our Ling family's daughter-in-law. It's raining heavily outside, so it's normal for one or two people to disappear."

Gu Youlian was so frightened that she shuddered and quickly shook her head: "My grandson's wife wouldn't dare!"

The old lady tasted a Sunshine Rose and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, what kind of fruit is this? It's so sweet!"

Chi Xingyue smiled and said, "I don't know. It seems to be some wild fruit that the master chef picked on the mountain. There aren't many, so I just wanted to try something new."

The old lady nodded and gave one to each of her daughters-in-law and granddaughters-in-law.

He fed the last three to Ling Weiwei, kept one for himself, and the rest was for Chi Xingyue.
