“How could it be…?”
At first, Emperor Wu of Liang only felt that the voices of the rebels cursing at the belligerents were somewhat familiar.
Just when he was wondering who was cursing, he suddenly heard the three words "Xiao Guoliang" come out of Bai Hong's mouth.
He froze in place, feeling as if struck by lightning.
“No… Impossible…”
Emperor Wu of Liang felt nothing as he listened to the other side calling him a "tyrant".
He was already frightened by the three words "Xiao Guoliang".
Emperor Wu of Liang pulled Eunuch Yu in front of him and looked across with wide eyes.
The distance was quite far, and he could only see a man in crimson military uniform riding a horse in front of the rebels, waving his arms and shouting curses.
Emperor Wu of Liang swallowed nervously, holding Eunuch Yu's arms tightly with both hands.
"Look, is that Xiao Guoliang?"
Emperor Wu of Liang pinched Eunuch Yu's arm so hard that it hurt.
He frowned, endured the pain, and looked across with wide eyes.
He thought the voice on the other end sounded like Xiao Guoliang's, but he couldn't see clearly and wasn't sure.
"Your Majesty, it's too far away, I can't see clearly..."
"Waste!" Emperor Wu of Liang shouted angrily and immediately called the secret guards behind him.
"Look carefully, who is that across from you?"
The secret guards who had been protecting Emperor Wu of Liang all stepped forward in unison.
The secret guards had better eyesight than most people, but the rebels were two miles away from the city gate tower, and they couldn't see very clearly.
The secret guards looked at each other and understood what each other meant.
It’s too far, I’m really not sure.
The six ministers who were watching the battle on the city gate tower all looked at the secret guards nervously.
The city gate tower is so small that not everyone can follow Emperor Wu of Liang in the imperial expedition.
The leader of the secret guards stepped forward and bowed his head.
"The voice and body shape do resemble Xiao Guoliang, but I can't see his exact appearance clearly, so I can't be absolutely sure."
Minister of War Wu Feng glanced at the soldiers on the city gate tower who were all shocked, frowned, stepped forward and said,
"Your Majesty, I suspect the rebels deliberately recruited someone like this to disrupt the morale of our army."
"Everyone knows that Xiao Guoliang died in battle over four years ago. How could he still be alive?"
The Minister of Revenue, Chai Yuanyu, glanced at Bai Hong. Seeing Bai Hong's astonished expression, it didn't seem like he was faking it.
However, Bai Hong is old, so it is possible that he made a mistake.
How could someone who had been dead for four years suddenly come back to life? Wu Feng's guess must be correct.
"I think what Minister Wu said makes sense. This may be a trick used by the other side."
"We were so far away, and the man was wearing a helmet. Aside from the voice and body shape being similar, there's nothing else we can confirm."
The other shocked ministers also reacted after hearing this and followed suit.
"Yeah, it's really hard to see. How could someone who had been dead for so long be alive?"
After being reminded by several ministers, Emperor Wu of Liang instantly came back to his senses.
He was shocked when he suddenly heard the three words "Xiao Guoliang".
He knew better than anyone how the four members of the Xiao family died; it was impossible for them to still be alive.
Emperor Wu of Liang took a deep breath and looked at Lin Shuwen with a serious face.
"Lin Shuwen!"
