Chapter 12 Getting the News

The next day at five o'clock in the morning, Lu Zifeng got up and saw that Lu Ziyan had already gotten up and was washing his face in the yard, but he did not see Lu Zimo.

"Second brother, where's third brother? Didn't you wake him up?"

Lu Ziyan shook his head. "I called him and he said he was sleepy, so we won't practice today."

Lu Zifeng narrowed his eyes and smiled, "Second brother, you have to know that if he doesn't get up, you will suffer. You are brothers, so naturally you have to share hardships and difficulties."

When Lu Ziyan heard this, he said nothing and ran directly into the east wing to pull Lu Zimo up.

Lu Zimo was still sleeping soundly when he was suddenly pulled off the bed by Lu Ziyan and fell directly under the bed. His knees hurt and he woke up instantly.

"Ouch, second brother, what did you do? You hurt me."

Lu Ziyan pulled up Lu Zimo who had fallen to the ground and brushed the dirt off him.

"You'd better get up quickly. Big brother is waiting outside. If you dawdle any longer, I'm afraid both of us will be finished today."

Lu Zimo disagreed.

"You idiot, big brother lied to you. With our parents here, how could he dare to hit us?"

After hearing what Lu Zimo said, Lu Ziyan asked hesitantly.

"Third brother, are you serious? Are parents really willing to protect us from being beaten by eldest brother?"

Lu Zimo rubbed his knees, lifted up his trouser legs and took a look. They were just a little bruised, but nothing serious. After hearing the second brother's question, he was a little hesitant. He really didn't know whether his parents would protect them.

"Have you finished talking? If you are, go practice martial arts. Let me tell you first, your father and I will not care about you two. Even if your eldest brother beats you two, your father and I will only watch and will not protect you two.

Yunniang had been standing outside the door for a while. She was so angry that she laughed after hearing what the two brothers said. They were such disappointing people. They had agreed last night to get up early to practice martial arts today, but they wanted to change their minds after just one night. They really deserved to be punished.

Lu Ziyan and Lu Zimo looked at each other and then reluctantly walked out of the house.

Lu Zifeng looked at Lu Ziyan and said, "What did you promise me yesterday? Say it again now."

Lu Ziyan knew that his elder brother was angry, so he had to go out and repeat what he had promised him last night.

Lu Zifeng looked at Lu Zimo again and said, "Third brother, you are very smart, but you use your intelligence to scheme against your parents. Big brother is really disappointed in you. Let's stop practicing today. Second brother, from now on, go back to your room and copy the promise you made last night for me a hundred times."

Then he looked at Lu Zimo and said, "Third brother, you, run around the yard a hundred times. When you finish, the punishment will end. I will tell father. That's all for today's punishment. Go."

When Lu Ziyan heard that he had to copy it a hundred times, he felt like crying and looked at Lu Zifeng, "Brother, can you write less?"

Lu Zifeng glanced at him and said, "Okay, now it's 200 times. Why don't you try one less?"

Lu Zimo originally wanted to beg for mercy, but when he heard his second brother say that the amount would be doubled, he was so scared that he immediately stopped talking.

After watching the two of them go back to copy and run in circles, Lu Zifeng walked into the house.

Lu Mingyuan was sitting in the house reading a book, and watching his eldest son take care of the two younger ones.

"Brother Feng, why do you want to punish them like this?"

Lu Zifeng took a sip of tea and said, "Punish them with the things they dislike the most, and they will learn their lesson. Dad, you have to know that we may start fleeing south one day. No one knows what will happen on the way. I let them learn martial arts so that they can protect themselves when they encounter danger. Although I am good at martial arts, two fists cannot beat four hands. There will always be things I can't take care of. By then, even if I regret it, it will be too late. That's why I am strict with them."

After hearing what Lu Zifeng said, Lu Mingyuan couldn't help but sigh that his eldest son's foresight was even more far-sighted than what he, as a father, had thought.

"You're right. Dad supports you. You should train them well during this period."

Lu Zifeng nodded to show that he understood. "Dad, I have to go to town later to see if there is anything else I need to prepare and buy some more. The third child is not as strong as the second child. You should pay attention to him and don't tire him out. Even physical training needs to be done step by step, not all at once."

Lu Mingyuan nodded to indicate that he understood.

After breakfast, Lu Zifeng rode his horse towards Shiqiao Town. When he arrived at Shiqiao Town, Lu Zifeng did not stop, but went directly to Xichang County.

I didn’t see Chen Dazhuang at the city gate today. I guess he was not on duty today. I arrived at the restaurant smoothly.

"Sir, you're here. The banquet you ordered yesterday isn't ready yet. It'll probably take another hour. Would you like to go upstairs to the elegant room and wait for a while?"

Lu Zifeng shook his head and said, "Since it's not ready yet, I'll go out for a walk first and come back later." After that, he walked out and headed towards the street.

Although the county town was still the same as before, Lu Zifeng still found something unusual. There were far fewer people on the streets, at least 30% fewer people than when he first came to Xichang County.

Lu Zifeng was strolling slowly on the street, but unexpectedly he met Chen Dazhuang. Chen Dazhuang directly took Lu Zifeng to a pub. After they sat down, Chen Dazhuang whispered to Lu Zifeng.

"Brother, let me tell you something. The wealthy families in Xichang County have already started migrating south. Do you think your Lujia Village should also prepare to do the same?"

Although Lu Zifeng had already guessed that he might need to flee the famine, but now hearing what Chen Dazhuang said, did he seem to think that there was something else wrong?

Lu Zifeng poured Chen Dazhuang a glass of wine and said, "Come on, brother, drink first. Let's talk after you finish this glass."

Chen Dazhuang was not polite and drank the wine in the glass in one gulp.

"Brother, is there any bad news?"

Chen Dazhuang nodded imperceptibly and pointed to the north. "It's not certain yet, but we still need to prepare, so as not to be caught off guard and make things even more difficult!"

Lu Zifeng heard this and, judging by what Chen Dazhuang said, he was afraid that the northern Tatars were about to invade the Dayu Dynasty. Oh, forget it. I'll go back today and tell my great-grandfather and the others, and prepare to set off south to escape the famine in two days.

"Thank you, Brother Chen. I would like to express my gratitude here."

Chen Dazhuang quickly pulled Lu Zifeng aside and said, "Hey, we brothers don't need to be so polite. It's enough for us brothers to know what's going on. I've already started preparing over the past two days, and we'll be heading south in no more than ten days."

Although Chen Dazhuang's voice was very low, Lu Zifeng, who had been blessed with supernatural powers, could still hear it clearly.
