"A mummy?" Upon hearing this, Ye Yun instantly conjured up a scene in his mind and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
Good grief, this guy is just putting on an act, but he's making it so exaggerated. Will anyone believe him?
However, since Liang Lu has come, it means that his village chief father believes him.
"What do you want from me?" Ye Yun asked knowingly.
"Oh, my dad called me over. He said you just got back and he'd like you to come over for a meal."
"Eating? Am I eating alone?"
"And my third uncle."
"Okay, I understand. You go ahead, I'll get ready and come over."
"Alright, I'll be going now, bro."
Watching Liang Lu leave, Ye Yun turned back into the house, only to see Lin Shuyue already coming out from the inner room.
Who is it?
"Liang Lu said the village chief invited me to dinner."
"The village chief is looking for you?" Lin Shuyue walked over and asked worriedly, "Could it be because of Gousheng?"
"Impossible. With the village chief's personality, he can't even manage ordinary things. How could he possibly stand up for that Gou Sheng guy? Sister-in-law, don't worry, stay home. I might be back late tonight, so you should go to sleep early. I've locked the gate, and I have the key!" Ye Yun said.
"Okay, then go ahead. Drink less alcohol, be careful on the road, and come back soon," Lin Shuyue instructed.
"Okay, I understand." With that, Ye Yun walked out of the house and closed the door.
Lin Shuyue sighed and turned to walk into the inner room.
………………
It was already late, and the village roads were pitch black with no streetlights.
Ye Yun arrived at the village chief's house and found the light on, making it easy to locate.
Upon arriving at the door, Ye Yun knocked. As the door opened, a young and beautiful woman wearing glasses appeared before him.
The two looked at each other for a few seconds before Ye Yun spoke first: "The village chief is inviting me to dinner."
"You? Ye Yun?" A hint of surprise flashed in the woman's eyes, then she opened the door wide and said, "Come in, my dad and the others are waiting."
"oh!"
Entering the gate, I followed the woman to the backyard, where I saw a large spread of delicious food laid out on the octagonal table, including roast chicken, roast duck, and seafood. These were things that were almost impossible to find in the village; even banquets were only for wealthy families.
This shows that the village chief put thought and effort into the meal.
Third Uncle was also there, chatting with the village chief. When Ye Yun arrived, the village chief was the first to stand up, but didn't come over. Instead, Third Uncle got up and walked over, patted Ye Yun on the shoulder, and said, "You're a bit late, kid. Your village chief and I have been waiting anxiously."
"It's too dark in the village, there aren't even any streetlights, and we often get lost while walking," Ye Yun said.
Uncle San smiled and looked at the village chief, "Listen to this, this kid has been in the city for four years, and he can barely walk when he comes back."
“Hey, how can you say that? A few days ago, you also went out riding your bike late at night and ended up riding into a ditch,” the village chief said.
Uncle San slapped his forehead and laughed, saying, "Look at my brain! I was talking about Yunzi, but I've already gone astray myself."
The village chief pointed to the seats and said, "Come, come, sit down, let's eat and chat."
"Come on, sit down!" Uncle San pulled Ye Yun down to sit.
Ye Yun looked at the beautiful woman with glasses, then at the kitchen, and asked the village chief, "Where's my aunt? Let them come and sit down too!"
"Your aunt is cooking in the kitchen!" the village chief said, turning to the kitchen and calling out, "Auntie, come out quickly, Yunzi wants you to sit down and eat with us!"
"Alright, alright, I'm coming out now." With that, the village chief's wife came out carrying a plate.
"Mom, let me take it." The woman with glasses stepped forward and took the plate of food.
The two sat down, with the woman in glasses sitting next to Ye Yun.
"Now everyone's here, let's eat, everyone pick up our chopsticks!" The village chief was the first to pick up his chopsticks and start eating.
Everyone started eating, and the village chief's wife picked up a duck leg and put it in Ye Yun's bowl, saying with a friendly expression, "Here, eat some duck leg, it'll help you get some nutrition. Look how thin you've gotten."
"Thank you, Auntie." Ye Yun picked up a duck leg with her hands and ate it, without any affectation.
"Hey, he's definitely lost weight. Before, this kid was all muscle and he was a fierce fighter, like a little tiger," Uncle San said.
“Everyone says the city is great, but how come our child is so thin? You know, the village is better. What’s the point of staying in the city? There are cars everywhere, it’s so dangerous, right, Xiaoya?” the village chief said to the bespectacled beauty.
The bespectacled woman looked up, nodded, and said, "Dad is right, the city is indeed not as good as here."
"See? Even my daughter-in-law said so," the village chief said with a smile.
"Daughter-in-law? Could it be Liang Hu's wife?" Ye Yun asked curiously.
"That's right, we got married last year."
"So fast?" Ye Yun asked in surprise.
"Fast?" The village chief's wife waved her hand and said, "No, it's not fast. It's normal for people to get married at twenty in the village. Liang Hu got married at twenty-two, so it's not fast."
"Speaking of which, Yunzi, you've been in university for four years, have you had a boyfriend or girlfriend?" Uncle San asked curiously.
"without."
"Did you never talk about it, or did you break up?"
"We haven't talked about it."
"What?" Uncle San was taken aback, and everyone else was also surprised, including Zhang Ya who was sitting next to Ye Yun.
"What nonsense are you talking about? The TV says that college is the time for young people to date, so how come you didn't date at all during your four years of college?" Uncle San asked in surprise.
"They definitely talked, are they just too embarrassed to tell us?" the village chief asked.
“That’s right! Xiaoyun is beautiful and sensible, how could she not have dated someone? She must be too embarrassed to tell us.” The village chief’s wife agreed.
Ye Yun smiled helplessly and said, "Uncle, Aunt, don't overthink it. What's there to be embarrassed about? If we didn't talk about it, we didn't talk about it. I have no reason to lie to you."
"You've really never dated? What's going on? There are several guys from the next village who went to university, and they all came back with girlfriends! You're so much better than them, how come you don't have a girlfriend yet?" Uncle San was very puzzled.
Ye Yun picked up his wine glass, took a sip, and said, "We'll see. I'm a shy person and don't like to pursue people relentlessly. Besides, university is a mixed bag, with all sorts of people. I thought I'd date someone suitable, and then four years passed by inexplicably, and nothing came of it."
The third uncle and the others all looked at Ye Yun with complicated expressions, wanting to say something but not knowing what to say.
"That's fine. University is, after all, a place for studying. Why would you be dating? Only those who don't study properly date. Our Yunzi is a good student," Uncle San said.
The village chief slammed his hand on the table and said, "It's alright. If we can't talk in the city, we can talk here. There are plenty of excellent girls in the surrounding villages. Let your aunt pick a few for you."
