Chapter 3 The Gentle Sister Shuyue

How long will you stay?

Ye Yun couldn't figure this out either. He hadn't considered Lin Shuyue's matter before, and originally planned to leave after returning to deal with his elder brother's affairs.

But now that Lin Shuyue is involved, he is unsure of what to do.

"I don't know either. How long does Sister Shuyue want me to stay?" Ye Yun asked in return.

"Of course, the longer the better..." Lin Shuyue blurted out, then quickly corrected herself after realizing her mistake.

"What good is it if I think about it? It's up to you. It wouldn't be good if it jeopardized your future in the city," Lin Shuyue said with a sigh.

"Future prospects? What future prospects do I have? It's all the same wherever I am!" Ye Yun chuckled, his tone tinged with helplessness.

"Of course there is. You're a college student, you've seen the world. No matter what happens outside, it's still better than staying in this poor, remote village of ours."

Ye Yun did not refute this, because he thought the same thing, but it would be unpleasant to say it out loud.

Ye Yun stood up, stretched, and said, "In short, I won't be going back anytime soon. I need to make sure you're settled in first, Sister Shuyue."

"Me?" Lin Shuyue raised her head and looked up at Ye Yun's young, handsome, and fair face, which looked even more handsome under the yellow light.

“Yes, you’re all alone at home now. If I just leave like this, you’ll definitely have a hard time in the village, and I’ll worry about that.” Ye Yun pushed up his glasses and gave Lin Shuyue a sincere smile.

Lin Shuyue's heart raced, and she quickly averted her gaze, covering her burning cheeks with her hands as she said, "Actually... you don't need to worry too much about me, I'll take good care of myself."

"I'll have to see it with my own eyes first." Ye Yun looked down at Lin Shuyue, and as he spoke, he suddenly noticed her snow-white skin, and his heart began to race.

"Ahem... It's getting late, Sister Shuyue, you should get some rest!" Ye Yun coughed and looked away.

"Okay, you should get some rest too!" Lin Shuyue stood up, turned around, and walked into the house.

Watching Lin Shuyue's graceful figure, Ye Yun took a deep breath to calm down and returned to his room.

Early in the morning, Ye Yun woke up, washed up, put on her sneakers, opened the door, and went for a morning run.

It was just dawn, and there were hardly any people on the village roads, except for one or two old men who had woken up early and were taking a walk.

Ye Yun ran all the way out of the village and onto the riverbank.

The morning is cool, and even if you run until you're drenched in sweat, it's not as uncomfortable as the sweltering midday heat.

This is a habit he developed since college; if a person wants to change, they have to start from all aspects.

After running a long way, Ye Yun stopped, turned around, and slowly ran back.

The roar of a motorcycle came from behind. Turning around, I saw my third uncle driving his old motorcycle towards me.

"Third Uncle," Ye Yun called out.

This sound caught the attention of Uncle Three. He stopped the car next to Ye Yun, looked at Ye Yun in surprise, and exclaimed, "Isn't this Ye Yun? You're finally back!"

"Yes, I just got back yesterday. Did you go to town, Uncle?" Ye Yun asked curiously.

"Uh... I had dinner with some friends last night, but you really are something, why are you so late coming back? Your brother's been gone for almost half a year already," Uncle scolded.

Ye Yun sighed and said, "There were some problems. I only received the letter recently."

"Oh, so that's what happened." Uncle San immediately understood. He patted Ye Yun's shoulder and said earnestly, "Xiao Yun, the past is the past. Now that you're back, live your life honestly and don't be impulsive like before. You still have your sister Shuyue. It's not easy for her to live alone in the village. You have to take good care of her like a man, understand?"

"Yes, I understand. I'm not a child anymore."

"Hehe, that's good. Get in the car, I'll take you back."

"No need, I just went out for exercise, I can run back myself," Ye Yun politely declined.

"Okay, I'll be going now. Be careful on the road."

"Yes, Uncle, you too."

As the roar faded into the distance, Uncle San and the motorcycle gradually disappeared from sight, and Ye Yun continued jogging.

Twenty minutes later, back home, Ye Yun went to the tap in the yard, filled a basin with water, and poured it over himself, getting completely soaked.

Hearing the commotion, Lin Shuyue came out of the kitchen and immediately grabbed Ye Yun's arm, scolding, "Xiao Yun, what are you doing? You'll get sick if you do that."

"It's okay, I've always been like this, I'm very healthy and I don't get sick."

"Nonsense, no one does that. Come with me, I'll clean it up for you."

As she spoke, Lin Shuyue pulled Ye Yun into the house and began to wipe his body with a towel.

Ye Yun felt embarrassed and snatched the towel away, saying, "No need, I can do it myself."

"Alright then, take off your clothes, and I'll go find you some clean clothes to change into." With that, Lin Shuyue went out.

Ye Yun took off his clothes, revealing his muscular physique, and wiped himself with a towel.

"I found your brother's clothes, you can wear these for now..." Lin Shuyue walked into the house after finding the clothes, and saw Ye Yun's strong and muscular physique.

"Sister Shuyue, Sister Shuyue." Seeing Lin Shuyue in a daze, Ye Yun waved his hand in front of her eyes.

"Ah, wh...what's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just noticed you were spacing out. What are you thinking about?" Ye Yun asked with concern.

"Uh... I was thinking... Oh, now that you're back, you should visit your brother's grave!" Lin Shuyue quickly changed the subject.

Ye Yun nodded and said, "Let's go after we finish eating. Do you have any yellow paper candles at home?"

"Yes, put your clothes on first, I'll go check the kitchen." Lin Shuyue stuffed the clothes into Ye Yun's hands and hurriedly left.

Upon entering the kitchen and closing the door, Lin Shuyue let out a heavy sigh of relief, covering her burning hot face with her hands.

"Ye Yun is not only handsome, but also has such a great physique. He looks thin and frail when he's dressed, and he looks scholarly when he's wearing glasses, but I never expected..."

After a brief moment of excitement, Lin Shuyue calmed down, patted her cheeks to compose herself, and began preparing breakfast.

Ten minutes later, in the courtyard, Ye Yun and Lin Shuyue sat facing each other at the table. On the table were a plate of cold dishes, a boiled egg, and two bowls of porridge.

It looks shabby, but that's how it is in the countryside.

"I usually eat alone, and I was afraid that if I bought too much food, it would spoil, so I didn't prepare much," Lin Shuyue explained awkwardly.
