Chapter 84 Lifting the Siege

Uncle San's food was definitely not as good as the village chief's; after all, the difference between the county town and the township was quite obvious.

You can get meat for 100 yuan in town, but it would cost 200 or 300 yuan in the county seat.

"Village Chief, you had a good time last night!" Ye Yun teased.

The village elder blushed and said awkwardly, "It's...it's alright, but don't go talking nonsense when you get back!"

"Look at what you're saying. I'm not stupid. I've always been good at knowing my limits. Let's get in the car, we should head back."

"Okay." Hearing Ye Yun's assurance, the village chief breathed a sigh of relief and got into the car.

And so, the two rode their bikes back home.

………………

Back in the village, Ye Yun returned the motorcycle to his third uncle and hurried home.

As soon as he entered, he rushed to Lin Shuyue's room, only to find that she was not there.

There was no one in the kitchen, and no one in the rooms.

Just as he was wondering, he heard footsteps outside the door. When he went out to look, he saw Lin Shuyue walking in with a bunch of vegetables.

Where did you go?

"I was picking vegetables in the garden by the door when you rushed into the house as soon as you came back, without even looking at me. Did you need to pee?" Lin Shuyue teased.

Ye Yun grabbed her hand, pulled her inside, pressed her against the doorway, and kissed her directly.

Lin Shuyue was a little stunned, and just let Ye Yun kiss her. After she came to her senses, she reached out and hugged him, gently responding to his kiss.

A few minutes later, the two separated and looked at each other.

"Why are you so impatient? You wanted to kiss me as soon as you got back," Lin Shuyue teased.

"miss you."

"Miss me? It's only been one night, but you're acting like we've been apart for days."

"To me, it feels like we've been apart for several days," Ye Yun said earnestly.

Looking into his sincere eyes, Lin Shuyue couldn't help but wrap her arms around his neck and press herself against him.

If anyone really missed someone, it was Lin Shuyue. She and Ye Yun were in the midst of a romantic relationship, and she missed him terribly if they didn't see each other for even a short time.

She's just a bit reserved; she's not as bold as him.

In the afternoon, Ye Yun and the village chief and others went to the fields. Thanks to Uncle Liu's work yesterday, all 100 mu of land had been prepared.

“Originally, we should have contacted the sapling manufacturers. But after talking with Sanqiang yesterday, we need to change our goals and build a factory first,” the village chief said.

“Building a factory is no easy task. It’s a hundred acres of land, so we need to plan it out carefully,” Ye Yun said.

"Don't worry about that. Sanqiang has already planned it out and had someone design the blueprints. Now all we need to do is discuss building the factory. By the way, Yunzi, are you free tonight?" the village chief asked.

Yes, what's wrong?

"Come to my house for dinner. I'll invite your third uncle and the others. We can discuss this matter while we eat."

"Okay, I understand."

After chatting for a while, the village chief had to leave.

With nothing to do, Ye Yun wandered around the fields and unknowingly ended up at the riverbank.

He remembered that Gou Sheng had caught crayfish in the river before, so he squatted down by the river and started looking for them. He actually found a few crayfish and crabs hiding in the crevices of the rocks.

It's a pity I didn't bring a bucket; even if you catch one, it's not easy to take it.

"What a pity, let's try again another day!" Ye Yun clapped his hands, stood up, and looked at the setting sun.

It's almost six o'clock now. I need to go back and tell Lin Shuyue that she doesn't have to do her own part tonight.

Just as Ye Yun was about to leave, he heard arguing coming from not far away, and it sounded like Zhang Ya's voice.

Curious, Ye Yun walked over and reached the road on the other side of the river. There, he saw Zhang Ya pushing her bicycle, being stopped by a man.

"Wife, I'm begging you, please help me, I really need the money right now," Liang Hu pleaded, holding Zhang Ya's hand.

Zhang Ya shook off the other person's hand and said coldly, "Get out of my way. If you want money, go to your parents. What are you doing here?"

“I’ve contacted them, but they won’t pay. I’m being chased by several people demanding payment. If they don’t pay me back soon, they might really kill me.”

"Hmph, it would be better if he were dead." Zhang Ya sneered and pushed her cart away.

Liang Hu knelt down and hugged her legs, pleading, "Wife, I beg you, you can't just stand by and watch me die!"

"Get lost! Are you even a man? How old are you, still asking others for money? Don't you have so many good brothers and women outside? Go find them."

"As soon as they heard that I wanted to borrow money, I couldn't contact any of them."

"What's it to me? Let go of me and get out of here..." Zhang Ya pushed him away angrily, slapping his head, but it was no use.

"Give me the money, or I won't let go."

"Fuck you..." Zhang Ya cursed loudly.

Just then, Ye Yun came running at the sound. Zhang Ya saw him as if he were her savior and quickly cried out, "Ye Yun, come and save me!"

"What's going on? What happened to you two?" Ye Yun walked over and looked at the two of them curiously.

Upon seeing Ye Yun approaching, Liang Hu immediately released Zhang Ya, stood up, and greeted him with a smile, "Brother Yun, what a coincidence!"

"What a coincidence! I've been back for a month and haven't seen you much. This is only the second time we've met. What have you been up to lately? Have you been working out there?" Ye Yun asked curiously.

Liang Hu coughed lightly and said, "Yeah, I'll find work in the county town."

Once released, Zhang Ya rode her bike back to the village. Liang Hu wanted to chase after her, but Ye Yun stopped him.

"Wait, don't rush, I have something to ask you..."

…………

In the evening, Ye Yun arrived at the village chief's house, where his third uncle and the others had already arrived.

These middle-aged people in the village like to get together to drink and chat whenever they have free time.

Ye Yun was the only young person among them. As soon as he came in, he was invited to sit down next to his third uncle.

"Come on, let's drink." Uncle San poured Ye Yun a drink.

Ye Yun picked up his wine glass and drank it all in one gulp, without even frowning.

"Yunzi, what did you do in the county town yesterday with your village chief?" Uncle San asked curiously.

Ye Yun glanced at everyone, then his gaze fell on the village chief, who appeared calm but was actually looking at Ye Yun with nervousness.

Ye Yun chuckled and said, "Actually, it's nothing. I just went for a massage with Brother Qiang, and then we had dinner and discussed some things."

"That's all?"

"That's all. What else could it be? What do you hope for, Uncle?" Ye Yun teased.

Uncle San gave an awkward smile and said, "What can I hope for? I'm just asking out of curiosity. I've hardly ever been to this county town, and sometimes I'm genuinely curious about it."

"There's nothing much in the county town, it's just bigger than the town, there are more restaurants and such, more fancy meals, but it's a bit expensive," Ye Yun said seriously.
