Chapter 17 Outer Courtyard

After circling the high wall, they soon discovered a rotten wooden door.

"It seems this is the entrance."

This is an old building, leaning towards a European style. The gray brick walls have been neglected for years, with many bricks weathering and crumbling over time, and moss occasionally growing from the cracks.

The gate was arched, and most of the nails used to secure the wooden gate were rusted and missing. The wooden gate was splattered with blood and had dozens of scratches left by unidentified weapons.

Hiding behind the skeleton, Liu Nian used his spear to poke open the wooden door.

The wooden door creaked and groaned as it dragged along the ground.

After passing through the wooden gate, there is a large courtyard.

The yard was overgrown with weeds, and every now and then an unknown insect would hide among them.

While they were still looking around the yard, the wooden door suddenly closed automatically without any wind.

Liu Nian tried to pry the wooden door open, but it didn't budge.

Cut off from his escape route, Liu Nian showed no fear. He parted the weeds and walked into the yard, intending to first find out the situation inside.

Sure enough, in the open space behind the yard, there was a small campsite, where a group of unknown creatures were gathered together.

After careful counting, there were seven in total. The creature was short and stocky, wearing an animal skin helmet, with mysterious patterns painted on its face, and carrying weapons such as short knives and wooden sticks.

The most eye-catching one was the one holding a flag, with all the creatures surrounding it.

Outnumbered, Liu Nian lay prone in the grass, watching the camp ahead, his summoned creatures standing quietly behind him.

He pulled out his pistol, released the safety, and decided to take advantage of the first strike since he was outnumbered.

Aiming at the foremost creature, Liu Nian pulled the trigger without hesitation.

The expected immediate collapse did not occur. Just as the bullet was about to hit the creature, a golden light flashed on its body, and the bullet deviated, its landing point unknown.

Unconvinced, Liu Nian fired several shots, all of which bounced off to the side without exception.

At this moment, the creatures finally reacted, and the camp instantly erupted into chaos as they rushed towards Liu Nian's hiding place, leaving only the creatures carrying the flag behind in the camp.

Hastily tucking the gun into his waistband and picking up the spear from the ground, Liu Nian immediately cowered behind the skeleton.

The summoned creatures received the signal to attack and maintained a tight formation to confront the onrushing creatures.

In just one encounter, two creatures were taken down on the spot.

When the other creatures saw their companion being killed, they scattered in all directions.

A notification from the system appeared in my mind.

"Wait? Fallen One? Diablo 2? Isn't that the Fallen One wizard holding the flag? It seems to be able to resurrect?" A series of question marks flashed through my mind.

Sure enough, before Liu Nian could figure it out, the wizard shook his head for a while, pointed his flag, and one of the fallen demons that had fallen to the ground immediately stood up again.

Liu Nian strode forward, his spear flashing out like lightning, striking the Fallen Demon squarely in the face. The Fallen Demon, who had just been resurrected, had no time to react before he was sent back to the Western Paradise.

We can't let the wizard have it so easy; we have to put some pressure on him, otherwise he'll keep resurrecting Fallen Ones indefinitely.

The thought flashed through Liu Nian's mind, and he commanded the ghouls to approach the Fallen Wizard.

Sensing Liu Nian's intention, the ghoul abandoned its pursuit of the Fallen and turned to run towards the lone wizard.

Ghouls are faster than skeletons, making them perfect for hunting wizards.

In the game, the Fallen Wizard has two skills: Resurrect Fallen and Fireball.

Fireball does hit pretty hard, but resurrection takes priority over fireball.

In the past, when playing games, you would glitch the resurrection and then forcefully kill the wizard. I don't know if that setting still applies now, since this is a real world.

The Fallen Demon on the ground had just been resurrected when it was pierced by Liu Nian, who was lying in wait.

To prevent the fleeing Fallen from being hunted down by the skeletons and disrupting the resurrection plan, Liu Nian gave the skeletons the order to defend.

The plan proceeded as scheduled, and the wizard resurrected the Fallen Demon in front of Liu Nian once again. This was its last chance to perform the resurrection plan.

The arriving ghoul opened its blood-red maw and bit off half of the Fallen Wizard's head, with bright red blood gushing out from the opening.

The Fallen Sorcerer clutched the wound on his neck in agony and slowly collapsed, instantly staining the grass beneath him red.

A card exploded on the ground.

Seeing the wizard killed, the Fallen Demons turned back and scattered again.

[Congratulations to player Liu Nian for successfully defeating the Fallen Demon Wizard and gaining 15 experience points.]

"Fifteen experience points!" Liu Nian was a little surprised, but experience points are always a good thing.

Faced with overwhelming power, the cowardly Fallen were quickly killed by the skeleton army.

Liu Nian then cautiously picked up the card dropped by the Fallen Demon Wizard from the ground: [Recovery Card: Small Life Potion].

Note: Slowly increases health regeneration speed.

After walking around the courtyard and finding no other Fallen Demon camps, Liu Nian pushed open the door and entered another courtyard.

It seemed that the Fallen Demon camp was located in the outer courtyard. When I pushed open the door, I found that it was still a courtyard. In the very center of the courtyard stood a building.

Just as I was about to make my usual rounds, I saw several black dots rapidly approaching on the grass in the distance.

As the other person gradually approached, Liu Nian finally saw what they looked like.

There were three people, each wearing an unidentified beast skull on their head, leather shoulder armor on both sides of their shoulders, light black armor, and leather boots on their feet.

His face was obscured by a bone helmet, but he was tall and slender. His exposed arms were bluish-gray, and he held a longbow and a spear.

One longbow, two long spears.

Seeing the enemy longbowman nock an arrow, Liu Nian instinctively hid behind the skeleton. With his vision blocked by the skeleton, the longbowman immediately shot at the ghoul that was exposed in his field of vision.

With a whoosh, the arrow drew an arc through the air and struck the ghoul's arm. The arrow didn't penetrate deeply, but it still made the ghoul squeak in pain.

The ghoul, in pain, immediately ran towards the longbowmen.

Fearing that the longbowman would aim at him, Liu Nian commanded the skeletons to slowly approach the longbowman.

As the distance closed, Liu Nian saw the longbowman aiming at the ghoul and launched the first attack.

He pointed the bone ring at the longbowman's figure: "Fang."

The cloud of air rushed toward the longbowman, who had not expected Liu Nian to use attack magic and was caught off guard, taking the hit head-on.

This attack did not kill the longbowman directly, but it caused him to miss the target.

The ghouls approached the longbowmen and began a direct melee.

The opposing spearmen didn't have time to get back to help and collided head-on with the skeleton.

Ranged archers should be eliminated first, so Liu Nian darted out from behind the skeleton and decisively ran towards the longbowman who was being harassed by the ghoul.

A chaotic battle has begun!
