Chapter 155 This Night

It's already night, my first night in City A.

The unique screams of the infected echoed through the streets outside the office building.

Inside one of the rooms, a soft firelight flickered.

Beside the campfire, a one-eyed man sat cross-legged, with a colorful quilt under him and a pale yellow blanket on top of the quilt.

He was quietly flipping through the cards in his hand, it seemed he was determined to stay here tonight.

This raid resulted in the killing of over two hundred infected individuals, the acquisition of over seven hundred crowns, and twenty-one cards.

Adding to his previous gains, Liu Nian now has over four thousand Kronos coins saved up. It has to be said that farming monsters can bring in money very quickly.

Most of the cards are resource cards, so I won't go into detail about them.

There were also a few item cards, but unfortunately there weren't any special items; they were mostly basic red and blue potions, and one stamina potion.

It's a pity there's no saddlebag, so now I have to put it back in my waist, and sometimes it hurts my back when I turn over.

I don't know if this bottle is fragile; I have a feeling I might crush it.

He quickly flipped to the last page, and the fact that there wasn't a single equipment card left him a little frustrated.

However, when he read the card's description, Liu Nian's eyes lit up.

Because the card in his hand depicted an undead unit.

[Summon Zombies (Skill Book) (Universal for Dark Mages)]

Effect: Summons a zombie to fight for you!

Note: Low speed, low initiative, low attack power—a disgrace to Tier 2 units! Only good for pushing through enemy lines!!

What grudge could you have that you're complaining about so harshly?

Tier 2 units are at least stronger than ghouls and skeletons, right?

With this question in mind, Liu Nian took the initiative to learn the skill.

After more than nine seconds, the spell consumed 25 mana points.

The freshly made zombie looks just like a ghoul, with grayish-blue skin all over its body. The difference is that it has a rusty kitchen knife in its hand and is also wearing a pair of shorts.

Unlike the sparse hair of ghouls, it was... bald.

"Information gathering." Liu Nian used his skill on the zombie in front of him.

Zombies

Race: Undead

Attack power: 3-5

Defense: 5-8 Health: 150

Skill: Rotten Skin

Rotting Skin: It dies from infection with the plague and is covered in venom. When attacked, it will spray venom to infect surrounding enemy units, reducing the enemy units' attack and defense by two points each.

This is the data when Liu Nian upgraded it to level 5, which is still very strong overall.

However, their slow speed was exposed as soon as they moved, so they could only be used as shield guards around Liu Nian.

Smelling their scent and thinking about spending a long time with them, it's no wonder the notes about them on the card are so full of resentment.

This was definitely a note written by a necromancer, and Liu Nian finally understood where the resentment between the lines came from.

The smell truly lived up to its reputation as a biological weapon. Even Liu Nian, a man who had seen his share of storms, couldn't help but frown.

After storing them in his spatial storage, Liu Nian took out the "Intimate Paradise" book. He needed to calm down, and this book was a good way to distract himself.

A moment later, suppressed sounds of "hehehehehehe" filled the room!

That's laughter!!! Anyone thinking dirty thoughts, hand over your study materials!!!

Somewhere south of City A.

After arriving at the outskirts of the city yesterday, the leader gave us a purple magic scroll. I must say that the frozen scroll was extremely powerful, as it could actually freeze the flames on Hellfire's body despite magic immunity.

After the two unlucky guys who couldn't dodge the area-of-effect attack were killed, the remaining thirty-odd professionals successfully killed the Hellfire guarding the gate.

After breaching Hellfire, they successfully entered the city.

We didn't encounter any powerful monsters in the city, only enhanced infected.

Having been baptized by wild monsters, even though the infected's attributes have increased significantly, they can only be used as experience points for professionals.

After a pleasant afternoon of browsing, they lowered their guard.

Ignoring warnings after dark, and after losing more than a dozen people in succession under the siege of the Night Demon and other monsters, they finally realized that the night belonged to the monsters.

Under the leader's command, the group then successfully escaped from the monsters.

However, during their escape, everyone got separated.

By the time they regrouped on the outskirts of the city, more than half of their manpower had been lost, leaving only eleven people.

They are currently at a temporary contact point on the outskirts of the city. Before entering the city, they had agreed to regroup here if any special circumstances arose.

This is the special situation we are in now, with everyone anxiously waiting for their missing companion.

They would occasionally look out the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of a familiar figure.

A morning passed, then another noon, and still nothing happened.

The arrogance that had once filled the crowd was gone, replaced by dejection and discontent.

Despite the leader's efforts to persuade them, the crowd remained filled with resentment and anger.

Curse this damned world and these damned people.

In the afternoon, their former companions arrived at the temporary shelter with a group of strangers.

This unexpected turn of events caught them completely off guard, leaving them looking at each other in bewilderment.

"We have no ill intentions; we're just here to discuss an alliance."

"An alliance that will benefit both sides."

A kind-looking middle-aged man stepped out from among the strangers. He was wearing a suit and tie, and leather shoes, exuding the air of a successful person in peacetime.

He raised his hands to indicate that he was unarmed, and walked to the door alone to speak.

Unfortunately, no one responded!

The middle-aged man shrugged and made an awkward expression.

"It seems your people don't believe me, but your compatriots won't lie to you. Let the two of them talk for themselves!" The middle-aged man wasn't angry; he still held his hands high and slowly backed away from the room.

After returning, have the original team members convey your wishes.

The two men shouted their companion's name as they entered the room, only to be met with weapons held to their necks as soon as they stepped inside.

After searching them for a while and finding nothing amiss, the people around them allowed them in.

Upon hearing this, the person next to him removed his weapon and then peered through the crack in the door to observe the situation outside.

The group of people not far from the entrance were still there, refusing to leave.

The two explained to the leader what had happened after they got separated, saying that it was that group of people who had saved them.

Throughout this time, they were repeatedly invited to the group's refuge, where they were offered safe accommodations, good food, and women.

The leader remained noncommittal about their proposal, but some of them showed signs of softening when they heard about food and women; they had been suppressing their desires for too long and desperately needed to let loose.

Moreover, they had no injuries, so they were not a threat.

So they did it voluntarily? Is it really that good?

"Do you want to leave with them now, or stay here?" After last night's defeat, the leader was somewhat dejected and undecided, so he asked everyone.

The group didn't even confiscate their weapons, which seemed like a sincere invitation.

But what if they're playing the long game?

Unfamiliar places are always frightening.

A group of people looked at each other, hesitant and unsure of what to choose.
