I glanced at my watch; the sun was about to set, so I needed to find a place to rest.
So much happened today, I need to sort out my thoughts.
In every hotel, the cashier at the front desk, an infected person, wanders aimlessly behind the counter.
"jingle"
The bell hanging outside the door rang.
"Squeak"
Then came the sound of the door opening.
A travel-worn adult man pushed open the door and entered.
The older woman, who was infected, looked in the direction from which the sound came, and then excitedly ran towards the new tenant.
The new tenant was not intimidated by the hospitable older sister and calmly raised the spear in his hand.
When he was only three steps away from his elder sister, he thrust out his spear with lightning speed.
The eldest sister neither dodged nor avoided the attack, and her spear pierced through the infected man's shoulder.
"It still missed." Liu Nian looked at the spot where the spear had pierced; the intended target was the brain.
The injured infected man felt no pain and, ignoring the spear stuck in his shoulder, tried to stretch out his arm to grab Liu Nian.
Feeling the force coming from the other end of the spear, Liu Nian steadied himself and tried to keep the spear steady.
The skeletons on both sides rushed forward and swung their knives at the infected man's neck.
The ghouls are more agile, opening their mouths to bite the infected person's legs.
With Liu Nian pushing forward forcefully, the infected person finally lost their balance and fell to the ground.
He then drew his spear and thrust it into the infected man's head again.
This time there was no mistake; the spear pierced the infected woman's eye socket, and the woman's limbs twitched twice before she stopped moving.
Liu Nian drew his spear, went behind the counter, and took the key with number 808 hanging on the wall behind the counter.
I looked up and saw that the elevator was stopped on the seventh floor.
Forget it, I'll just take the stairs. I'm too lazy to wait.
Nothing happened along the way, so I opened room 808.
The room is about 30 square meters, with light red wallpaper and wooden floors. The bathroom is on the right-hand side of the entrance, and it has a separate shower room.
The most striking thing in the room was a luxurious double bed. The infection had only occurred two days prior, and although no one had changed or washed it, the bed remained dust-free and clean.
I locked the door, went into the bathroom, turned on the tap, and heard the sound of running water; the water was still very clean.
"Great, I can finally take a hot shower."
After all that fuss, Liu Nian, feeling refreshed, threw herself onto the bed.
The bed was very soft, and Liu Nian almost sank into it. She couldn't help but feel playful and did several somersaults on the bed.
The sun finally set, and the room lights were still working, but Liu Nian didn't want to expose herself, so she didn't plan to use them.
The post-apocalyptic novels I had read taught me that fellow human beings are often more terrifying than infected individuals.
I opened the curtains, and there were fewer lights on outside than when I was on the rooftop.
The whole world seemed to have been abandoned, enveloped in the embrace of night.
With mixed feelings, Liu Nian fell into a deep sleep.
"Robbery? Are you sure you want to do this?" The voice belonged to a woman.
"Otherwise what? We haven't eaten all day. If you want to go hungry, don't come. Let me make this clear: if you don't come, you won't get any." A man's slightly gloomy voice rang out.
"Can't we buy some from him? We can pay more." The woman still disagreed.
"Would you be willing to do that? Things are different now than before," the man said dismissively.
“I saw it myself; he was carrying a huge bag full of food, enough to feed us for several days,” the man continued, encouraging them.
“But how do we know which floor he lives on?” a strange man suddenly asked.
"He'll go upstairs, which will definitely distract Sister Zhang at the counter. I'll just take a look at the front desk cabinet and see which key is missing." Another voice came.
"Xiao Zhang, are you sure you can get a spare key?" the first man asked.
"Don't worry, Brother Lu. I've heard Sister Zhang tell me where the spare key is," the man called Xiao Zhang replied confidently.
"Since everyone agrees, let's get started," said the man called Brother Lu, holding a fire axe and with a gloomy expression.
The four of them walked out of room 712 and went down the stairs to the first floor.
"He killed that receptionist, maybe we should just let it go." The woman had sharp eyes and was the first to spot Sister Zhang lying on the ground.
"So what? We outnumber him and have more weapons. Two fists can't fight four hands. Are you afraid of him? Right, Brother Lu?" Xiao Zhang said obsequiously, holding a boning knife.
"Maybe we should just forget about it. I don't really feel right about it," Yu Rou said hesitantly, holding a kitchen knife.
"Xiao Zhang is right. Don't worry, I'll protect you, Yu Rou," Lu Fan replied confidently, stroking the fire axe in his hand.
"Tiger, when you open the door, you go first. Remember to break his leg first, don't let him escape," Lu Fan said, turning to the burly man behind him.
"Got it, Brother Lu," the young man called Tiger replied, waving his baseball bat.
“It should be room 808,” Xiao Zhang said with certainty after glancing at the wall behind the counter.
"Then it's settled." A fierce glint flashed in Lu Fan's eyes.
"Hmph, you are all just pawns in my game."
Lu Fan was the first to discover Liu Nian, but in order to encourage the other three to act together, he deliberately did not mention that Liu Nian was accompanied by a summoned creature.
In his plan, as long as those three useless people could hold off the summoned creatures for a while, he was confident of victory against Liu Nian one-on-one.
He touched the card in his pocket; it was the card he got from his first kill of an infected, and he had been looking for a suitable opportunity to use it.
As a Level 3 beginner, he certainly has reason to be proud.
"Anyway, it's just a temporary team. Loyalty? What's that? Is it worth anything?" Lu Fan thought smugly to himself.
"bite"
The elevator slowly came to a stop on the eighth floor, and several people filed out, with Xiao Zhang leading the way to room 808.
Using the dim light of his phone, Xiao Zhang took out his keys and slowly turned the doorknob to room 808.
"The door is open," Xiao Zhang said in a low voice.
"Proceed according to plan," Lu Fan commanded from behind the group.
The four exchanged glances and whispered, "3, 2, 1."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Xiao Zhang flung open the door, and Xiao Hu rushed to the bedside, grabbed a baseball bat, and began smashing it wildly against the bed.
Yu Rou reacted a little slowly, and shakily turned on the chandelier switch by the door.
"Ah!" Yu Rou exclaimed in horror upon seeing the scene inside the room.
"Holy crap, what is this?!" Before Xiao Zhang could finish speaking, his head was smashed by the skeleton.
"Damn it!" Little Tiger turned his head and bumped into a ghoul that pounced on him.
The skeleton doesn't care about your gender; it just swings its scythe and the whole world goes silent.
Lu Fan's plan was half successful: the other three did indeed hold off the summoned creature for a while, allowing him to enter the room safely without being targeted.
The other half of the plan failed because Liu Nian did not appear in his script.
The bed was empty.
Lu Fan looked at the empty bed, his mind went blank.
"Are you looking for me?" a voice came from behind.
Liu Nian opened the bathroom door and walked out holding a gun.
Upon hearing the sound, Lu Fan's spirits lifted; this was a good opportunity.
The actions of turning his head, turning around, and reaching into his pocket were all done in one smooth motion.
Just before he was about to throw the card, a cloud of air collided with him!
Lu Fan looked at his mutilated body, an expression of disbelief still on his face as he died.
If Lu Fan were still alive, he would find that Liu Nian's expression was even more incredulous than his own.
What's with the weirdo? Have you been watching too many action movies? How can turning around be faster than casting a spell?
Picking up the card the man was holding from the ground, Liu Nian looked at the dead man as if he were an alien.
At almost the same time, the ghouls and skeletons also dealt with the last intruder.
Once freed from its restraints, the ghoul eagerly began to enjoy the food that had been delivered to its doorstep.
Looking at the messy room, Liu Nian was overwhelmed with mixed feelings.
The moment the door lock turned, Liu Nian was already awake. How could she sleep so soundly when she wasn't at home?
Some people are afraid to go out and hunt infected people for food, but they are more likely to attack their own kind.
With that thought in mind, Liu Nian turned and walked out of the room.
