Chapter 100 Level Nine

After clearing out several infected along the way and gathering the skeletons, Liu Nian arrived at the target location as instructed, only to find that the Harpy's nest was located in the dense forest.

Simply put, a hobbit's nest is a nest made of a pile of overlapping branches, similar to a treehouse perched on a thick branch.

Five harpies are patrolling around its den.

Harpy has a head and body similar to a human female, except that her hands have turned into long wings, her feet into sharp claws, and her whole body is covered with brown feathers.

Upon seeing this design, Liu Nian immediately thought of the harpy.

In the games Liu Nian used to play, its characteristics were that it was a flying unit that could return after attacking.

Looking at the Harpy patrolling in mid-air, there's no doubt that it's a flight unit; it's definitely one.

Attack retaliation is something that only exists in turn-based games, and it's clearly inappropriate now.

As usual, information gathering is prioritized on the hobby.

The principle of not fighting a battle one is not confident of winning is ingrained in Liu Nian's DNA.

Harpy, Winged Human, lv10, Attack: 6-8, Defense: 2-4, Magic Defense: 3-5, Health: 100, Stamina: 200.

Skills: Scream, Claw Strike.

Scream: Launches a scream at the target, causing the target to make a judgment. If the judgment is successful, it will cause panic.

Claw Strike: Strikes a target hard with sharp claws, dealing 10 damage and inflicting a bleeding effect.

Liu Nian stared at them for a long time but still couldn't understand why they had the potential to become D-level missions, since the bison were much stronger than them based on their stats.

Despite not understanding it, this data did not make Liu Nian complacent.

He silently watched Harpy's patrol route, trying to find loopholes in the patrol and lure them out one by one to kill them.

Unfortunately, the patrol routes were unpredictable, so Liu Nian had no choice but to risk killing them all at once.

Release all the summoned creatures, with the skeletons taking the lead and being responsible for luring Harpy.

Seeing that the five ugly undead dared to invade his territory, the Harpies roared and transformed into arrows, attacking the skeleton together.

After a few leaps, the skill claw strike landed directly on the skeleton, dealing damage, but the bleeding effect was negated by the skeleton.

Liu Nian had just finished releasing his Death Ripple, and darkness instantly engulfed Harpy and the skeleton.

Skeletons are undead units and are immune to damage from Necromantic Ripple. After the black mist clears, all five Harpies lose 35-37 HP.

The attack was effective, and Liu Nian used the gap in the spell to cast the Slowing Spell.

Harpy broke free from the skeleton's grasp and ascended into the air; a single ghost can only entangle one of the skeletons.

After the other four harpies flapped their wings to escape the skeleton threat, they looked in Liu Nian's direction, then opened their mouths and activated their skill, shriek.

Without any loading bar, four invisible sound waves surged into Liu Nian's ears.

[The judgment is in effect; the Scream level has been forcibly reduced by one level.]

[Mental value is higher than opponent's Intelligence value, judgment invalidated]

Liu Nian received a series of notification sounds in his mind.

Is there really such a good thing?

But before Liu Nian could be happy, the shrieking sound woke up the harpy pack in the nest, and countless harpies flew out of the nest behind.

The Four Husky Choir successfully woke up the resting hobbit group; this was the real killer move of the Scream.

The swarm of harpies overwhelmed the skeletons who couldn't recall their spatial dimension in time, and then flew towards Liu Nian's direction.

Upon seeing this, Liu Nian turned and ran away as fast as he could.

In a frantic run, he threw the summoned creature back into the dark space, then ran out of the woods, jumped on his motorcycle, and fled in a mad dash.

The sound of Harpies flapping their wings echoed behind Liu Nian. Liu Nian forced himself to calm down, and the motorcycle gradually accelerated, leaving the group of Harpies behind him behind.

Luckily, I was still some distance from the hobbit's lair at the time, otherwise I would have really capsized in the gutter today.

Even after the motorcycle had traveled some distance, the notification sound in my head was still ringing.

"The D-level mission really does have its unique features," Liu Nian thought with lingering fear.

Liu Nian is still some distance from the Harpy's nest, and instead of chasing after them, they return the way they came.

It seems they have a strong attachment to home; perhaps we can make use of that.

Once we roughly determined their pursuit distance, the rest was much easier.

Liu Nian parked his motorcycle by the edge of the woods, without removing the key, and went back into the woods.

The five patrolling hobbits are slowly and steadily regenerating health after disengaging from combat.

Having lost sight of their target, they were temporarily unaware that Liu Nian had returned.

Upon seeing this, Liu Nian had a flash of inspiration and came up with a way to deal with them.

First, Liu Nian deployed Bone Armor to protect his fragile health, then stood at the maximum distance and unleashed Death Ripple.

After successfully chanting, without waiting for the outcome, Liu Nian turned around and ran towards the motorcycle at the edge of the woods.

The black mist within the magic circle swallowed the nest along with the patrol team. Enraged, the hobbits once again flew out of the nest and chased after the coward on the motorcycle.

Halfway there, watching the rider disappear into the distance, the hobbit pack reluctantly returned to their den.

The dreaded kite-fighting strategy!

It has to be said that it really worked. By the time the hobbit pack came out of their nest, Liu Nian had already jumped on his motorcycle and left the woods.

Harpy, who had been haunted by spirits, was killed by the Death Ripple.

[Congratulations to player Liu Nian for successfully defeating Harpy and gaining 80 experience points]

He enjoys 80 experience points all to himself, only 20 points less than the Night Demon.

Not bad, at least we've tasted a little success.

Liu Nian was very satisfied with the result.

The crows in the woods saw the hobbits return to their nest and called out to warn them.

Liu Nian was afraid they would be discovered, so she told them to keep an eye on Harpy's movements from a distance.

Time passed as Liu Nian and Habi tugged at each other.

After five rounds of this back-and-forth, Liu Nian finally saw the smile of victory.

The system notification sounds lingered for a long time, and even the upgrade messages were drowned out by the messages about gaining experience points.

Big Black was very busy at the moment, constantly carrying the cards and crowns it had acquired together with its underlings.

Liu Nian was even busier. The Harpies' nests were in the trees, and many Harpies had died inside. He needed to pluck the tail feathers from the Harpies to complete the task.

Don't think you can fool customer service. The tail feather is the most vibrant feather on a hobby, and each hobby only has one.

After much effort, they pushed the nest to the ground. Inside the Harpy's nest, besides the Harpy's corpse, were the remains of other creatures.

Meanwhile, an envelope in the nest caught Liu Nian's attention; it was clearly not in the style of a modern person.

Could it be a special quest item?

With this in mind, Liu Nian picked up the envelope from the ground.

The envelope was written in quill pen on the front: "To Harold".

Who is Harold?

Liu Nian had no clue what to do, so she could only throw it into her spatial storage for now.

This confirms that the letter was indeed addressed to an NPC; Celestial Dragons wouldn't use such a foreign name.

As for the person who chose such a name? He's not exactly a Celestial Dragon.

I put all the crowns and cards into my storage space. It's not convenient to check them now; I shouldn't stay here any longer!

On the way back on my motorcycle, I looked at my experience bar: 480/4000. I was still a bit far from level 10.

Should we try our best to reach level 10 before Sunday night?

This crazy plan flashed through Liu Nian's mind!
