The sudden turn of events made Bishop Tors uneasy; he seemed to have overlooked this point.
I really underestimated the fighting power of the police force. I originally thought that the appearance of the six chosen ones would be enough to suppress everything.
But it doesn't seem to have worked; a big commotion broke out at the mass grave.
What should we do? If the city lord discovers the altar over there, everything will be over.
The festival tomorrow night looks like it will be canceled, and the thought of this makes him extremely anxious.
"It seems this is the only way."
He suddenly turned ruthless, as he thought of a good idea.
"Come in."
The parishioners outside heard the bishop instruct them to go inside and wait for further instructions.
"Gather all the believers in the city, and let us attack the World Society to please the Lord of Truth!"
Bishop Tors addressed the worshippers as they entered.
Ten minutes later, fanatical cultists poured out of the residential area and began setting fires along the way.
As they gathered in greater numbers, they split into two groups and spread outwards.
The plan to go to support the mass grave was disrupted by this sudden change.
Upon hearing the order over the walkie-talkie, He Xi, who had already left the house, had no choice but to turn back and instruct his men to quell the riot.
Things took an unpredictable turn, and uncontrollable chaos spread throughout the Tianxia Society.
Through walkie-talkies, City Lord He Zhi and Chen Ling exchanged information. Through Chen Ling, they learned that the market area and entertainment area were also being attacked by mobs.
The immediate priority is to quell the riot; the mass grave issue can be addressed later.
He Xi then joined the conversation, saying that he could lead a team to support the mass grave.
At least it can delay the arrival of those from the mass graves, giving us time to suppress the rioters here.
There was really no good solution in the short term, and after much consideration, He Zhi finally agreed to the plan.
After hastily instructing He Xi to protect himself, the city lord began to discuss with everyone a plan to repel the enemy.
The assembled team then split into two groups.
He Xi led a group of elite troops toward the mass grave.
The remaining forces, led by the sheriff, stormed back into the city to suppress the rioters.
"Kill, kill, kill!"
Liu Nian was awakened by the noise outside while she was half asleep.
After getting up in a daze, I looked out the window and saw many civilians holding torches looting and vandalizing outside the Rose Hotel.
"Am I hallucinating? What's going on?" Liu Nian quickly rubbed his eyes.
Looking out the window again, it seemed to be true.
Due to the angle, I couldn't see what was happening at the hotel entrance.
However, the sounds of fighting could be heard, and it appeared that many civilians were fighting with the hotel's security guards.
I was planning to get a peaceful night's sleep and then go to the mass grave tomorrow to check on things, but now the disturbance is making it impossible for me to sleep soundly.
After getting dressed, Ruan Xin went downstairs and found a group of strangers gathered around her, discussing something in the lobby.
Hearing the sound of someone coming downstairs, she looked up and saw it was Liu Nian. A look of joy immediately flashed across her face.
Their eyes met, and Liu Nian's heart skipped a beat; a bad premonition washed over her.
"Make way, make way! Liu Nian, you've come at the right time. We need your help here." Sure enough, the next second, the loud-voiced Ruan Xin started shouting.
It would be good to find out what happened from her, Liu Nian thought, and walked over there.
Those who can afford to stay at hotels are generally well-off, and those who are well-off are usually quite powerful.
As Ruan Xin explained the incident, which he defined as a riot, Liu Nian found herself not very interested.
(I'm not familiar with the city lord, so as long as he doesn't get in my way, I'll pretend I didn't see him.)
Another sentence from the incessantly talking Ruan Xin instantly put Liu Nian on alert.
"What did you just say?" Liu Nian suddenly asked.
“Those people all have a strange eye tattoo on their bodies.” Ruan Xin was startled by Liu Nian’s reaction and repeated it.
(So, he's all talk and no action, isn't he? Can't this man just be a quiet, handsome guy?)
"A six-pointed star inside a circle with an eye in the middle, right?" Liu Nian asked Ruan Xin, recalling the image she had seen in the deserted village.
“Yes, that’s what you’re talking about. How did you know?” Ruan Xin recalled that it was correct and asked Liu Nian in return.
(The Eye of Truth? No, I need to go to the mass grave right now.)
Thinking about this, Liu Nian suddenly had a bad feeling and packed her bags to leave.
"Hey, hey, where are you going? There's still a riot at the gate. Let's wait for the city lord's men to come and assemble!" Ruan Xin asked hurriedly as he watched Liu Nian walk out the door.
"Mass Graveyard," Liu said without turning his head.
"What will happen here if you leave? Sigh..." Ruan Xin was still saying something behind her, but Liu Nian could no longer hear her after the door closed.
After the gate opened, many hotel guards stood in front of him, busy fighting with the rioters.
After summoning his summoned creature and donning the bone armor, Liu Nian began to unleash the Death Ripple.
Since you're someone with the Eye of Truth, don't blame me for being impolite.
When the time came, the magic circle enveloped all the believers within its range.
Before they could even gasp in surprise, a large number of the cultists who were fighting with the gatekeeper fell to the ground.
Without any equipment and with only about fifty health points, being injured by the gatekeeper and then encountering Liu Nian's magic would be certain death.
Seeing the fearless cultists surrounding him again, Liu Nian calmly cast the spell once more.
Since you're in such a hurry to see your God, I'll give you a ride!
With Liu Nian's help, most of the cultists were wiped out before they even got to the hotel door. The remaining cultists finally showed fear on their faces and slowly retreated back into the darkness.
There are plenty of places to vandalize; it's not worth risking your life here.
Instead of continuing to chase them, Liu Nian had more important things to do.
The other groups of believers swept all the way to the outskirts of the village where the city lord was located.
They ran right into the troops returning to defend the village, and the two forces instantly became entangled, fighting fiercely and evenly.
The followers relied solely on their courage and passion; without organization or leadership, their suppression was only a matter of time.
Bishop Tors did not show up at all, and it is unknown what he was planning.
This night is destined to be anything but peaceful.
As I stepped out of the hotel, a person appeared behind me—it was Ruan Xin.
"You just said you were going to a mass grave?"
"Yeah, so what now?"
"Don't waste my time," Liu Nian said, a little impatiently.
The only person he could call a friend was now missing, his fate unknown.
"Someone told me that the fireworks we set off the other day were for signaling for help. I only told you this because you said you were going," Ruan Xin said mysteriously in a low voice.
"The riots a while ago? Could they be stalling for time?" Many thoughts flooded Liu Nian's mind.
Never mind all that, let's just go and take a look and we'll know.
The road out of the city was littered with the corpses of many rioters, but they did not encounter any more rioters blocking their way as they drove out of the city gate.
After leaving the city gate, Liu Nian twisted the accelerator and disappeared into the night.
