Chapter 366 The Sanctuary

A dark shadow loomed overhead, the immense power of the plague Ramasu's massive body swooping down.

By the time the guards next to the courtyard reacted, they had already collectively crashed into the ranged attack team.

Exclamations erupted in the once quiet courtyard. The sudden attack caught the ranged classes off guard and shattered their dense formation in an instant.

The fragile mages who were hit by the falling objects died instantly, while those who didn't were also seriously injured. Their sudden landing filled the courtyard to the brim.

If the massive undead only caused temporary chaos, then the vengeful spirits and vampires that followed were like nimble sharks.

The wailing of the vengeful spirits healed Lamasu while simultaneously poisoning the health of nearby ranged classes with their insecticidal breath.

Led by the Queen, the vampires primarily targeted and killed humans who still possessed courage, prioritizing mages who posed a greater threat to them.

Because the archers were blocked by Lamasu and had no line of sight, they were unable to launch ranged attacks. Their melee capabilities were also mediocre, so they were dealt with last.

Life extraction is completely unreasonable. Even if someone takes a few hits from magic and is left with only a sliver of health, throwing a few life orbs at them will restore them to their original state. On the contrary, the mage who cast the spell will be drained into a dried-up corpse.

This led to the collapse of the entire ranged profession, and the fear of death spread throughout the courtyard.

The melee guards desperately tried to squeeze in to protect the group of terrified, fragile classes.

Ranged classes desperately tried to retreat, attempting to escape the terrifying undead sharks as much as possible.

The two forces were locked in a stalemate, neither willing to yield, each fearing that if they delayed even a second, they might be among those who died.

They consumed each other, delayed each other, and ultimately none of them achieved their wishes. They were sent to hell by the vampires and vengeful spirits who arrived later.

Unexpectedly, Liu Nian was holding back, and the command post, witnessing this scene, was in no better shape, immediately falling into chaos.

Some people were still putting up a stubborn resistance, and Zhao Tianlin, who had rushed back, was one of them.

However, even though Zhao Tianlin is powerful, he is not invincible. A few vampires were enough to keep him busy. The life-draining ability will not stop taking his blood just because he is the third strongest in the world. Even though he has high health and strong defense, he still has to submit to the vampires' methods.

After downing the last red bottle, if no reinforcements arrive, he fears he too will be unable to escape the clutches of the poison. How laughable that he thought no one in the world could travel at night at this stage; if it were him, perhaps he really could.

He didn't have much time to reflect before several more life extractions were launched, and he watched helplessly as the red orbs representing his life points were forcibly extracted from his body.

Just as a series of images flashed through his mind, reinforcements finally arrived from the city nearby.

Golden light continuously seeped into his body, and his health points visibly increased, quickly restoring his health.

Then countless golden rays flashed, and the golden holy light shone directly on the undead units.

Struck by several beams of holy light at the same time, Lamasu's massive body instantly vaporized, wailing as it scattered like dust.

If it weren't for Liu Nian's command providing attribute bonuses to the dark creatures, they would have dissipated even faster.

Amidst the wailing of the undead units, a squad of about one Holy Templar slowly emerged from the room.

Paladins and monks, special professions belonging to the Monastery of Light, possess signature abilities such as exorcism and holy light magic, both of which deal additional damage to dark creatures.

Their sudden arrival also caught Liu Nian off guard. He couldn't see what was happening in the courtyard, but the constant echoes of his summoned creatures dying in his mind told him that something must have happened.

Fortunately, the Queen was inside directing the battle. After realizing they couldn't take down the group of commanders, they crippled the ranged professional players and then decisively took to the air, escaping the attack range of the Saint Seiya warriors.

Neither side gained anything in the courtyard. After leaving behind the corpses of several flying units, they broke free from the Templar class's entanglement and flew back to Liu Nian's side.

In order to save the group of ranged classes who were low on health, the Saints chose to spare some of their manpower to help them.

The other paladins wanted to chase after them to rescue the other melee classes, but Liang Kun stopped them; he needed them to protect the Axe Gang's higher-ups.

As for other grassroots units, they had no choice but to give up under these circumstances.

As long as the overall framework remains intact, he still has a chance to make a comeback. As long as the resources are plentiful, the lower-level henchmen can have as much as they want.

After a rough count, most of the ranged classes were lost, with archers being the majority remaining, and only a small number of mages and priests surviving.

The command post was attacked for only a short while before being rescued by the Templar professions. Apart from a few staff officers who unfortunately perished, the losses were relatively small.

Having narrowly escaped death, the commander-in-chief suppressed his fear and picked up the walkie-talkie to inquire about the casualties of the commanders outside the compound.

However, no one answered for a long time; all that responded to him were various roars.

Without remote assistance, all the melee classes outside who were slowed down were surrounded by Liu Nian's summoned creatures. They were now surrounded in layers, and everyone was focused on fighting, leaving them no time to attend to anything else.

Every minute and every second, vibrant lives are lost, and then, with Liu Nian's rebirth skill, they join the battle surrounding his former comrades.

Although they retained their appearance after being reborn, their strength was greatly reduced. They no longer had class panels and skills, and were just living dead wielding weapons haphazardly.

However, their advantage is that they enjoy the buff from Liu Nian's command, resulting in a significant increase in their attribute values, making their abilities somewhere between those of ghouls and black warriors.

In a one-on-one fight, a level 20+ professional might not be a match for them with normal attacks.

The commander at the front was in despair. His brothers were dwindling while the number of enemies around him was increasing, many of whom were familiar faces. They charged forward fearlessly to fight his former comrades to the death.

He didn't know how many times he had repelled the undead's attacks, nor how many times he had called for reinforcements, but all his efforts went unanswered.

To make matters worse, his walkie-talkie had been shot down during the earlier exchange, and now he had no idea what his surroundings were like.

The last reinforcement came ten minutes ago when the Axe Gang brothers arrived from both sides, attempting to attack Liu Nian's summoned creatures from three sides.

But the cunning necromancer was prepared. As they charged, swarms of spiders rose from the ground and trapped them in the middle of the road with their silk.

These humanoid silkworm cocoons not only slowed down their siege but also tested their morale.

Seeing their comrades bound tightly, their fate unknown, many were so frightened their legs went weak, let alone continuing the charge. Just being able to hold onto their weapons was considered a feat.

That's not all; those who still had the courage had to squeeze through the gaps blocked by these human-shaped cocoons, which further slowed down their offensive.

Without unified leadership, they played no role and were trapped and died on both sides of the street by these cave-dwelling demons. If no one rescued them, they would be trapped and die.

The remaining Axe Gang members who had miraculously survived looked at the densely packed human-shaped cocoons before them and no longer had any thoughts of attacking. They only wished they had two more legs and ran as far away as possible.

By the time the group of commanders had finished organizing, the area outside the courtyard had quieted down, and the shouts of battle had long since disappeared.

They instructed someone to open the gate and check the situation outside the courtyard.

The sight before him terrified the man so much that his legs went weak, and he screamed as he sat down by the door.
