Chapter 43 Mr. Dark

The nurse had never seen such a scene before and didn't know how to handle it for a moment.

It took him a long time to finally manage to utter "thank you."

"You're welcome. You'd better settle these things quickly."

Some malicious eyes are already looking over.

I was careless; I really lack experience in the ways of the world.

A common man is innocent, but possessing a treasure is a crime.

You made this mess, so you have to take the blame!

Liu Nian snorted and stood up, taking the M19 rifle off his shoulder and releasing the safety.

The crisp sound of the gun's safety being pulled snapped the covetous eyes from the shadows back to reality.

But they showed no sign of leaving, standing in a circle around the nurses' station.

The nurse seemed to realize what was happening and hurriedly ran into the next room to report to Dr. Wu.

Upon hearing the nurse's report, Dr. Wu was somewhat incredulous.

It's no wonder she didn't believe it; people with any status go to see the professional doctors kept by the community leaders.

Although I am a doctor, I am still far from being able to work independently.

They are only responsible for helping patients who have little in the way of supplies but are not seriously ill.

Dr. Wu quickly finished his work and escorted the patient out of the operating room.

Then he had the nurse come close and whispered a few words in her ear.

The nurse nodded upon hearing this, then turned and ran out of the house.

With the protection of these three major forces, no one dares to openly cause trouble in the community.

I could only watch helplessly as the nurse left.

Liu Nian looked at the food on the table. Was no one taking care of things here?

I silently reminded myself not to do such a foolish thing that harms others and myself next time.

It's not that I'm worried about wasting supplies, it's mainly about wasting time.

Fortunately, the stalemate did not last long, and Ruan Xin, whom I had met before, came over with a few people.

Seeing this, he roared, "Are you forming a rebellion by surrounding us here?"

Seeing that the men Ruan Xin brought had drawn their weapons, the group glanced furtively at the supplies on the table before reluctantly leaving.

Liu Nian breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the crowd leave.

We can't really shoot over this trivial matter, can we?

I'm not some born killer!

Ruan Xin did not recognize Liu Nian and walked past him into the house to talk to Dr. Wu.

He seems quite familiar with this place.

Her men lined up outside the house.

"No more doctor's appointments this morning, everyone get out," the subordinate said coldly to the crowd.

Seeing this, the patients felt hopeless and left one after another. Some cursed the money-grubbing patients as they walked away, saying that they were affecting their medical treatment.

Nodding to the panting nurse, Liu Nian fled the scene without waiting for a response.

"What just happened?" Ruan Xin asked as soon as he entered the room.

“It seems that someone’s donation of supplies has attracted the attention of others, some of whom are not very friendly,” Wu Qiong explained.

"Who is it? What was that dark figure just now?" As soon as Ruan Xin entered the room, he saw a person sitting at the nurses' station holding a rifle.

It didn't seem to have a strong presence, so I didn't pay much attention to it.

“Yes, that’s the patient,” Wu Qiong said after a moment’s thought.

"Could it be a suitor pretending to be a patient? Like that guy?" Ruan Xin casually sat down on the desk and teased.

That makes sense; who would leave so many supplies on a first meeting?

"No way! She really is a patient, and she's injured," Wu Qiong hurriedly explained.

Out of professional ethics, the cause of the illness was not explained in detail.

"So eager to explain? Are you feeling guilty?" Ruan Xin teased, knowing his old friend was usually too serious and he shouldn't let this opportunity slip by.

"So, have you found a boyfriend yet?" Wu Qiong looked at her old friend helplessly. Enough already!

"It's not a good time now. Also, be careful not to go out at night recently. Something happened in the neighborhood." Ruan Xin said seriously, as if he suddenly remembered something.

"Okay, you be careful too!" Seeing her friend's serious expression, Wu Qiong felt a sudden panic and blurted out.

Then I thought of Mr. Dark Black, who had caused the misunderstanding earlier, and hoped that he was safe and sound.

The reason is simply that there are not many people in this era who still have good intentions.

The doctor had mentioned nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and Liu Nian decided to try her luck at the hospital.

Every little bit helps to heal an injury as quickly as possible.

With nothing to worry about, how can resting and recuperating be considered a problem?

Anyway, I don't participate in the attack; I'm just responsible for cheering on the summoned creatures.

I took a walk around the neighborhood and saw several places in the yard that had been hit by the meteorite; the dark red soil next to the craters was particularly noticeable.

It seems the staff reduction is severe; there are almost no market patrol personnel.

Moreover, there are far fewer vendors and survivors trading here, with only a few scattered stalls remaining.

The items sold at the stall were all ordinary goods and did not attract Liu Nian's attention.

"It seems we'll have to wait until the night market. Why not take this opportunity to go out and see if there are any special infected individuals?"

Having made up her mind, Liu Nian left the residential area.

The only remaining objective is a twisted resentment; let's try to find it.

Seeing that no one was around, Liu Nian opened the dark space and released the summoned creatures.

This time, we'll explore the surrounding area, using the residential community as the center.

Hopefully, a Licker will appear; if it's a Burster, Liu Nian can accept it now.

It was clear that the residents of the community had taken good care of maintaining street safety; Liu Nian walked for a while without finding any infected individuals.

He looked at a map at home and vaguely remembered that there was a large pharmacy not far from here, hoping to find the tongue-twisting medicine.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. The pharmacy had already been ransacked, and looking at the spotless counters, even the condoms hadn't been spared.

Liu Nian cheered herself up, thinking that it had been a week, so it was not surprising that something like this had happened!

It seems that the only way to find this drug is through large buildings like hospitals.

Based on the novels I've read, that place must have been teeming with infected people before the apocalypse, so going there would definitely be a tough battle.

I absolutely have to go, otherwise who knows how long I'll need to rest, and there's that Spider Queen next to me who's giving me a headache.

The thought of the oppressive feeling it gave off made Liu Nian feel like she was sitting on pins and needles.

I went home to change my gear; the nearest hospital is about a two-hour drive southwest of my home.

I glanced at my watch; there were still a few hours until sunset.

There was enough time, Liu Nian thought.

The southwest was a place Liu Nian had never been before, so he might as well use it as a map exploration.

After quickly packing her luggage, Liu Nian comforted herself.

After people step outside their homes and maintain a safe distance from their homes, the density of infected individuals begins to increase.

This area used to be a large industrial park.

Looking at the dilapidated state of the streets now, it's only been a week, and the world has become so desolate.

Can we really rebuild our homes?

Seven days wasn't all bad. After seven days of training, Liu Nian's accuracy with the spear improved. While he didn't reach the master level of hitting every target precisely, he had made some progress and was able to use it with ease.

After clearing away the infected intruders, the Third People's Hospital of Suibian City was already within sight.

The cluster of infected individuals at the intersection completely blocked the entrance to the hospital.

Even someone as powerful as Liu Nian wouldn't dare to charge head-on into a horde of zombies of this size.

Looking at the overpass not far away, Liu Nian's eyes lit up with an idea.

The overpass is about ten meters long, and the steps leading to it are wide enough for about four people to walk side by side.
