Being shot was unpleasant. Shaking her dizzy head, Liu Nian tried her best to run towards home.
These predators are incredibly powerful and work together seamlessly.
The timing of his shots and his advance was superb; I was no match for him at all.
When will I be able to have an excellent team?
He still had two hand grenades and one stun grenade on him; the rest he left at home.
"No, I can't go home. They'll definitely send someone to arrest me now," Liu Nian analyzed calmly.
"Then let's go over there," a flash of inspiration struck his drowsy mind.
He turned and ran in another direction.
Not long after, Zhao Tianba and his men tracked them down to this area.
The tracker looked at the broken, withered branches on the ground and pointed in one direction: "Over there."
Everyone has their own expertise, and Zhao Tianba trusted his subordinates' judgment, so he called his brothers to go and encircle and annihilate them.
The cat-and-mouse game begins!
After passing through several alleys, Zhao Tianba laughed as he saw a figure in black robes running ahead. "Caught you, you little brat. Brothers, after we take him down, you can pick any girl in the neighborhood you want."
Upon hearing Zhao Tianba's words, his men burst into laughter and quickened their pace, imagining the scene afterward.
After all, there's only one person on the other side, while we have so many of us, what's there to be afraid of?
The people who were "escaping" ahead seemed to hear their laughter, so they ran even faster, turned around, and disappeared into a small alley.
Everyone hurriedly ran towards the alley, which was winding and twisting. By the time they arrived, Liu Nian had already disappeared.
The person chasing the trail carefully examined the traces before him and seemed to have discovered something. Pointing to a certain spot, he reported hesitantly, "Commander, there seem to be traces of a large creature walking here."
Zhao Tianba looked at the spot his subordinate was pointing to; it seemed to be the footprint of a hoofed creature, but he couldn't quite picture what kind of creature could have such a large footprint.
"Can you tell the time?" he asked.
"It seems to be soon, but I can't pinpoint the exact day." The tracker thought for a moment but couldn't give a specific answer.
Looking at the empty street before him, devoid of any corpses, Zhao Tianba scratched his head. It must have been the traces left by the people from the neighborhood after they cleaned it up.
"With so many people in this community, it's impossible that they didn't find these footprints. Maybe they cleaned it up in the last few days. Look, we've walked for so long and haven't seen any infected people."
"Don't hesitate, go after them."
The crowd agreed that this made sense, and without further ado, they ran into the alley where Liu Nian had disappeared.
A short while later, the traces of Liu Nian's disappearance reappeared, and the pursuers were overjoyed, following the traces.
As they followed the footprints to a green belt, everyone's attention was drawn to a person called the "Task Issuer."
He signaled to the trackers to take the two of them to follow first.
Zhao Tianba took two steps forward and approached the mission issuer.
【Hehehe~ Want even greater power? Take this, and you'll receive unexpected rewards】
【whether】
Zhao Tianba immediately nodded without hesitation.
[Mission: Ghoul's Brain 0/5]
A ghoul's brain? What is that? Where can I get it?
Just as I was about to ask the task issuer, I heard him speak.
【Hehehe~ You don't have what I want, so try harder】
Not getting the answer he wanted, Zhao Tianba put the mission out of his mind.
"It's not too late to accept the task once we catch up with that guy and he comes back."
"Chase them all!"
After taking a longer detour, the group found that the pursuers had stopped outside a shopping mall.
Zhao Tianba glanced at the doorway; it was a casual clothing store.
"Inside?"
“I saw him run in with my own eyes.”
"The two of them ran around the store. The store doesn't have a back door, so I'm sure he was inside."
"This should be his hideout. Everyone be alert. After we finish our work, we'll have a party tonight."
Then, leaving two people to guard the door, Zhao Tianba opened the door and went in first.
After everyone entered, they began to search deeper into the clothing store.
"Wasn't it supposed to be his lair? How come there are such thick spider webs?" Mercenary A whispered.
"Hey, a cunning rabbit has three burrows. Maybe the least likely place is the most likely. Tell me, if it weren't for Eagle Eye seeing you, would you have even glanced here? You would have run away long ago, right?" Mercenary B said, tearing open a spider web, his imagination running wild.
"That makes sense, you're really awesome." A thought about it and it seemed to make some sense.
“Of course,” Yi said loudly.
"Inside the warehouse up ahead." Hawkeye looked at the traces left on the ground, gazed at the half-open door ahead, and pointed in the direction of the warehouse.
"This is all that's left." Looking at the footprints left by the fleeing people, the mercenaries gathered at the warehouse entrance.
"You two go in and take a look." Zhao Tianba pointed to the two people, A and B, who had just spoken.
After taking their positions and touching the door, the two exchanged glances and gestures. When B gestured "one," A suddenly pushed open the warehouse door.
"Hiss~" The scene inside the room made him gasp.
Everyone peered through the open warehouse door and saw that the entire warehouse was covered with countless insect eggs, which were pulsating rhythmically. There was no sign of Liu Nian.
"Oh no, we've fallen into a trap." Zhao Tianba glanced at the scene in the warehouse, and this thought flashed through his mind.
"Using himself as bait, that's a really ruthless person."
"If there are insect eggs, there must be an insect mother! Get out, get out quickly!" he shouted suddenly.
This was the first time they had ever seen their leader lose his composure like this. Realizing something was wrong, the group looked at the warehouse door and retreated towards the entrance of the mall.
Before everyone could leave through the doorway, the warehouse door was smashed open.
A giant spider fell from the warehouse ceiling, pinning a rearguard mercenary beneath it.
The sound of bones breaking rang out, and the mercenary passed out before he could even utter a sound.
Behind this spider, four spiders, each about half a person's height, were running towards the group.
Looking at the giant spider in front of him, Zhao Tianba knew it was no ordinary creature.
"Boss, firearms are ineffective against them, switch weapons." Zhao Tianba knew this well and ordered loudly.
"Spread out! Sun Ming, hold one back, Old Cat, hold another, Hyena, hold the third, and Big Pig, hold the last one."
"I'll take the biggest one; the rest of you should prioritize taking down the one Sun Ming is holding back."
As the orders were relayed, the mercenaries recovered from their initial panic.
After changing into their game weapons, the group moved according to the leader's commands.
The space was too narrow to perform well, so Zhao Tianba covered the rear and headed out of the clothing store.
He secured his shield and watched the Spider Queen's movements from the other side.
"Thirty-eight against five, I have a chance of winning." Thinking to himself, Zhao Tianba threw a clothes hanger he had picked up at the Spider Queen.
The coat hanger landed precisely on the Queen before falling to the ground.
Enraged by Zhao Tianba, the Spider Queen abandoned her pursuit of others and turned to charge at him.
