Mrs. Ellie reached out to take the communication crystal. Seeing this, Martin said softly to Mrs. Ellie, "Mother, if there is nothing else, I will leave first."
After saying this, he turned around and walked out the door calmly.
Unexpectedly, his father White was already waiting outside the door.
The father and son's eyes met, but neither of them spoke. They just walked towards the study room silently, one in front and one behind.
After sitting down in the study, Martin considerately stood up and prepared to pour a cup of tea for his father White.
White took the teacup, pondered for a moment, and then slowly said, "Martin, regarding your sister Belin, can you show some mercy and give her some leeway?"
Martin took a sip of tea and did not respond directly to his father's words. Instead, he asked, "Father, has Belin's heart knot been untied?"
White nodded first, then shook his head.
When Martin saw his father's actions, he already knew the answer.
For a moment, the atmosphere in the study became a little deserted, and the two of them just drank tea quietly.
Soon, the pot of tea was empty.
Martin slowly stood up and said calmly, "Father, let Beilin come and talk to me in person about this matter. You guys should stop getting involved."
After saying that, he turned around and pushed open the study door. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly found that the second wife was standing at the door.
When the Second Lady saw Martin, a flash of panic flashed in her eyes, but she quickly calmed down and a smile spread across her face.
"Martin," she said softly, with a hint of flattery.
"I know Beilin was ignorant and offended you before. But she is your sister after all. Please be magnanimous and forgive her this time."
Martin looked at the Second Madam, his expression unchanged, and said lightly: "Second Madam, I know you love your sister."
"But some things can't be forgiven. You should be aware of the consequences of what my sister did."
The Second Madam's smile faltered slightly, her eyes revealing a hint of helplessness and anxiety as she continued, "I know, I know everything."
"Belin has already regretted it and has been reflecting on her mistakes for some time."
"Look, she's been punished, so please be merciful and let her go. We're family after all, so why make things so awkward?"
Martin was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "Second Madam, I'm not an unkind person..."
White couldn't help but advise, "Martin, your second wife is right. Beilin is your sister, and blood is thicker than water. Don't take it too seriously."
Martin frowned slightly, thought for a moment and then said, "Father, Second Madam, I just told father to let Beilin come to me in person."
If she can honestly admit her mistakes and sincerely repent, I will consider it. But she must explain all this to me face to face."
Upon hearing this, the Second Madam's eyes lit up with hope, and she quickly nodded and said, "Okay, okay, I'll go tell her and ask her to come to you as soon as possible. Martin, don't worry, Beilin will definitely give you a satisfactory explanation."
Martin nodded and said, "Then I'll wait for my sister to come find me. I hope she can understand that some mistakes cannot be made again and again."
After saying that, he didn't stop and walked away.
White and the second wife looked at Martin's departing back, feeling mixed emotions.
The second wife said to White worriedly, "Master, do you think this child, Beilin, can convince Martin?"
White sighed and said, "That depends on Beilin's luck. Martin has always had his own principles in doing things. This time, we can only see if Beilin is truly sincere."
At this moment, Beilin was anxiously waiting for news. She was simply fed up with this secret realm.
It's a drab place, with not even a place to have fun.
She was full of worries, constantly wondering what the result of her mother's plea would be, and whether Martin would let her go.
Just then, there was a sudden sound of hurried footsteps outside the door.
"Belin, Belin, Martin agreed to let you see him! As long as you admit your mistakes sincerely, you can get out of here!"
Before anyone stepped into the house, the second lady's anxious voice reached Beilin's ears.
Then, the door was flung open, and Beilin saw her mother's face full of joy, mixed with a hint of anxiety.
In an instant, Beilin was overwhelmed with emotions and didn't know what to say.
Asking her to bow her head and apologize to the informer and admit her mistake is harder than climbing to the sky, it is simply impossible!
The thought flashed through her mind, and without a word, she turned around and sat back on the bed.
When the Second Madam saw Beilin sitting back on the bed, she stood there in a daze for a moment, unable to react.
Then, the second wife quickly came to the bedside and asked with concern: "What's wrong, baby?"
A self-deprecating smile appeared on Beilin's lips, and she said, "Mother, don't you think Martin White is going too far?"
"He wanted to lock me up, so he did. Now he's asking me to apologize to him in person. This is absolutely impossible. I'm determined not to go."
After hearing this, the second wife was stunned for a moment. She never expected that her daughter would have such thoughts.
Could it be that I dote on her too much that made her so stubborn? "Are you still holding on to that commoner family?"
"When your father arrived, he saw the two of you hugging each other in dishevel. Otherwise, why would he have killed that civilian family?"
"Don't you understand how much of a ripple this would have on you and your family if it got out? Beilin, you're such a stranger to me right now."
When Beilin heard her mother's accusation, a trace of anger and grievance flashed in her eyes.
She stood up suddenly, looked directly at the Second Madam, and said loudly, "Mother, how can you say that? He and I are truly in love. So what if he's not dressed properly?"
"Just because we are different in status, can my father take my life so easily?"
"Besides, Martin knew about my relationship with that civilian, but he still told my father about it. He's an informer. Why should I apologize to him?"
The Second Lady was somewhat bewildered by Beilin's intense reaction, but she suppressed her emotions and persuaded him, "Belin, feelings are insignificant compared to family interests."
"As a member of the family, you should prioritize the family's honor. Martin is also doing this for the family and for your own good."
"Think about it. If your affair with that commoner gets out, the whole family will be disgraced, and you'll never be able to hold your head up in the family again."
Beilin sneered, "For the family? For my own good? Is the so-called family honor more important than a living life?"
"Martin is just jealous of the relationship between me and that civilian, so he did this."
"Mother, you always say you're doing this for my own good, but you've never truly understood me."
The second wife looked at her stubborn daughter, feeling helpless and distressed.
She softened her tone and said, "Belin, what has happened cannot be undone. Now go and apologize to Martin, and maybe he will let you go."
"As long as you can get out, mother will definitely find you a good family of equal status and make you happy."
