Chapter 496: Chatting with Family, Peter Cried

Martin walked out of the manor, flipped his fingertips and took out a dark blue communication crystal. After injecting a trace of dragon power into it, he said in a deep voice: "Mother, let Father answer the phone."

When he heard a rustling sound from the other side of the crystal, he had already stepped into the carriage pulled by the dragon beast, and the curtain fell at that moment.

White's voice came through, with his usual calmness: "Martin, what happened?"

The words on his lips suddenly stopped. Martin looked at the dark dragon scale totem on the wall of the car.

Finally, he suppressed his anger and spoke in a slower tone, "It's nothing serious. I just wanted to ask how you and mother are doing lately."

"Hmph," White snorted lightly on the other end, "You've always been like this since you were a child. You can't hide anything. Is Karen in trouble again?"

The carriage was silent for a moment, with only the clatter of the dragon beast's hooves on the stone slabs.

Martin didn't respond directly, but instead mentioned that he was still a minor and had asked you for a knight's squire at dinner.

White also responded, and the two chatted back and forth.

Time passed quickly, and just as Martin was about to hang up, White's voice suddenly became low.

With unquestionable determination: "Martin, you are the king of the empire, not someone's brother. Just do what you should do, and don't worry about us. Even..."

"If something irreparable really happens, your mother and I can bear it. Let it go. We won't blame you."

Martin's fingers holding Crystal suddenly tightened, and a cold touch came through his palm.

He was silent for a moment before he responded softly, "I understand, father."

At the moment the communication was cut off, the carriage just passed through the Suzaku Gate of the imperial city.

Martin lifted a corner of the car curtain and looked towards the direction of the Loyalty College in the distance - the sound of the trial ground there was coming from there.

The faint shouts sounded very much like the ones he and his brothers heard when they were competing with each other in the manor, but now everything has changed.

Martin concealed the gloom from his brow, and his steps became lighter when he stepped into Xingchen's bedroom.

The sunlight coming through the window lattice spreads onto the bookshelf. Xingchen is standing there, his fingertips gently brushing across the yellowed pages, his profile as soft as an ink painting in the light and shadow.

He quietly walked around behind her, stretched out his arms and pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head: "Xingchen, what are you looking at?"

Xingchen's body stiffened slightly, then relaxed, and she leaned into his arms. Her voice was as soft as a feather: "Your Majesty, why are you here? Didn't you go to your sister's place?"

"I'll come see you first, okay?"

Martin smiled, his fingertips tracing the curve of her waist, where a slight bulge already appeared.

"How have you been these days?"

Xingchen nodded, closed the book with his backhand, and turned around with clear eyes: "Your Majesty, is there anything bothering you?"

Martin bent down and smelled the fragrance of her hair. The faint scent of orchid always made him feel peaceful.

He rubbed her temples and softened his voice: "I can't hide anything from you. But they are just trivial matters, don't worry about them."

He paused, and gently placed his palm on her lower abdomen, "Take good care of yourself, I'll take care of everything."

Xingchen didn't ask any more questions, but just raised her arms to wrap around his waist and put her cheek against his collar.

The bedroom was silent, with only the sound of the night wind blowing through the leaves of the sycamore tree outside the window and the overlapping breathing of the two people.

Martin held her, feeling the warmth in his arms and the gentle throbbing in his belly.

Xingchen raised her hand to straighten the wrinkles on Martin's collar, her fingertips showing a gentle smile: "Go quickly, if you are any later, sister will be waiting anxiously."

The light reflected in her eyes, hiding a hint of mischief, "Sister, when she gets jealous, she's unreasonable."

Martin chuckled and bent down to place a soft kiss on her lips. "You're so clever."

He pinched her cheek, and whispered a few words to her to put on more clothes and go to sleep, and then he left the bedroom under Xingchen's push and persuade gestures.

As I walked through the corridor, the wind brought the fragrance of osmanthus flowers to my face.

Martin recalled the smile in Xingchen's eyes just now, and the curve of the corners of his lips had not diminished.

When she reached the door of Qiao Wei'an's bedroom and was about to enter, a voice with a hint of anger came from inside: "If Your Majesty doesn't come, I will have someone go look for you."

The door creaked open and Jovian stood inside wearing a moon-white cloak.

There was a hint of feigned grievance between her eyebrows, but when she saw him, she couldn't help but curl her eyes: "Finally you're here."

Martin came straight to Jovian and hugged her, then turned and walked towards the inner hall with Jovian, leaving a faint scent of jasmine in the air.

"Your Majesty, have you been tripped up by one of your sisters?" There was a subtle hint of mischief in her tone, but her hand had already skillfully poured him a cup of black tea.

Martin took the teacup and his fingertips touched the warm wall of the cup.

He deliberately kept a straight face, but his tone was a bit deliberately reserved: "I just said a few words to Xingchen, and he came here immediately after finishing speaking."

As he spoke, he straightened his back deliberately, as if he was trying hard to behave properly.

Qiao Weian looked at him and saw that he was used to being relaxed, but he insisted on putting on airs.

He burst out laughing, his shoulders shaking. "Well, Your Majesty, your pretending to be reserved is really hilarious."

She reached out and tugged at Martin's sleeve, saying briskly, "Don't be so tense. It's like going to your other sisters' place. They haven't seen you for a long time."

Martin nodded after hearing this. He was indeed too busy recently and had no time to see them.

After seeing Peter, Martin wanted to tease him and make faces to scare him, but Peter suddenly cried with a "wow".

Jovian hugged the crying Peter and patted his back gently.
