Chapter 119 Did you complain to the commander?

Upon hearing that Tianya was sick, Yu Yao anxiously asked, "How is Tianya? What did the doctor say?"

"It's nothing serious. She just ate some pastries before boarding the ship and got a stomachache. Auntie, don't worry."

Yu Yao frowned slightly. "It's good that she's alright. Tianya loves sweets so much, have you taken her to the hospital for a checkup? Could there be something wrong with her health?"

Lu Yuanhao asked in surprise, "A liking for sweets can be a disease?"

"That's possible. I've heard of this disease before. We should take Tianya for a thorough check-up. If everything is fine, great. If there are any problems, they can be treated promptly."

Hearing his aunt say that, Lu Yuanhao's expression became serious. "I'll go back to the guesthouse and call home in a bit."

"Let's go now. I'll go with you and pick up the things Mom gave us."

In those days of scarcity, some places couldn't even get enough to eat, so it was perfectly normal for children to crave sweets; no one would have imagined there would be a problem.

It's always better to have it checked out for peace of mind.

Without hesitation, Yu Yao set off. She had many prizes, so her neighbors, including her sisters-in-law and aunts, helped her carry them home.

After arriving home, Yu Yao borrowed a bicycle from Song Yufeng, took her food ration book and money, and rode back to the guesthouse with Lu Yuanhao.

Hu Lingyu answered the phone.

After listening to Lu Yuanhao's words, the old man took it very seriously and immediately said that he would take Tianya for a thorough check-up right away.

Before hanging up the phone, Hu Lingyu specifically reminded Yu Yao, "Don't let anyone else see that mysterious gift. Look at it quietly when you get home."

Yu Yao was filled with doubt upon hearing this.

Isn't it supposed to be medicinal herbs and medicinal wine? Why are you doing this in secret?

Although she didn't understand, Yu Yao knew that her mother must have meant something by giving such instructions, so she agreed.

I went to the supply and marketing cooperative yesterday. There are still some vegetables left at home. I'll go to the canteen to get two more dishes, and that will be enough for dinner.

Lu Yuanhao's eyes lit up when he saw the table full of delicious food. He took out his precious camera and took a picture of the table.

After taking the photos, I thought they were really good and suggested, "Auntie, Commander Zheng just asked me to write a report about an advanced anti-espionage military wife. I'll take a couple more photos of you after dinner to add some material."

Upon hearing this, Yu Yao asked expectantly, "Could you print out a set of the photos from this afternoon and the ones from later?"

"Of course, no problem."

Yu Yao smiled happily, "Then after we finish eating, could you please take a few more pictures for me? I want to keep some photos of my island life."

Lu Yuanhao agreed, so it's just a matter of using a few more rolls of film; it's not a big deal.

After dinner, before the sun set, Lu Yuanhao had Yu Yao take photos in the yard, under the kapok tree, and under the coconut tree.

Children and military spouses gathered around curiously to watch the spectacle, their eyes filled with envy.

Seeing their spirited appearance, Lu Yuanhao had a new inspiration. He thought the footage was excellent and generously invited them to film together.

Lu Ze was washing dishes in the kitchen, his gaze never leaving Yu Yao through the window.

Yu Yao laughed loudly, her smile never stopping.

She seems to really enjoy taking photos; she's always happy when she does, and seems to really like capturing images of herself.

While Lu Yuanhao was taking pictures of the others, Yu Yao smiled and went back to the courtyard to help Lu Ze tidy up the kitchen.

"Do you really like taking photos?" Lu Ze asked her.

Yu Yao looked outside and said with a smile, "I really like it. I want to take a lot of photos, develop them and put them in an album. That way, when we're old, we can sit together in rocking chairs and look at the photos. Just thinking about that feeling makes me feel so happy."

The main reason is that mobile phones are so convenient in later generations. No matter where you travel, you have to take pictures. If you don't take pictures and check in, you feel like you've wasted your trip.

Lu Ze noticed that she said "when we're both old," implying that he had a place in her future.

Does this mean she does have feelings for him?

This realization softened his usually stern expression.

"Besides candied apples and taking photos, what else do you like?" Lu Ze wanted to know more about her.

Old Qin said that to pursue a woman, you need to understand her preferences.

Yu Yao thought for a moment and replied, "I also like to eat all kinds of delicious food. As long as it's unique and tasty, I like it. As for other things, I haven't thought of anything else yet."

Lu Ze silently made a note of it.

What about you? What are your hobbies?

Lu Ze thought for a moment: "Models of various warships and weapons."

Yu Yao recalled the model she had seen at the Lu residence last time and understood.

When the two talked about today's military dependents' meeting, Lu Ze said, "The punishment for the enemy agent incident has been issued. Zhou Yinhua and Zhao Desheng have both been punished."

Yu Yao was somewhat surprised. In this incident involving enemy agents, Zhou Yinhua forced her to admit that she was the daughter of a capitalist. This matter could be a big deal or a small deal, depending on how the army handled it.

Generally speaking, getting Zhou Yinhua to apologize and write a self-criticism is the maximum punishment Yu Yao can get.

Going any higher would require alerting the superiors.

In family matters, an apology and self-criticism are usually enough; there will be no substantial punishment unless the man of the family intervenes.

Yu Yao stared at Lu Ze, and asked uncertainly, "Did you complain to the commander?"

This really doesn't seem like something Lu Ze would do.

Could it be because of her?

Lu Ze's expression was somewhat unnatural, and he didn't dare to look her in the eye. He explained, "It's not exactly a complaint. They're coercing the family of a regimental-level officer. As your husband, I can't just let it go like this. Besides, there's evidence that Zhao Desheng isn't innocent. Without his approval and hints, Zhou Yinhua wouldn't have dared to make such a scene."

Yu Yao knew that if he hadn't brought it up, the teacher probably wouldn't have gotten involved.

As for Battalion Commander Zhao's underhanded tactics, if Lu Ze doesn't investigate, where will he get the evidence?
