It felt ice-cold to the touch, as if I had never lain on it before.
Did Lu Ze come back last night? Or was she dreaming again?
Yu Yao got up, got dressed, opened the bedroom door, but didn't see anyone.
She exhaled and said to herself with a self-deprecating smile, "It really was just a dream."
Just then, a familiar voice came from the kitchen, "Ayao, you're awake. Breakfast is ready. Go wash your hands and eat."
Yu Yao suddenly looked up at the kitchen doorway.
Lu Ze was dressed casually, in a polyester shirt and suit pants. He rolled up the wrist of his shirt to reveal his handsome wrist bones and a metal watch on his arm.
He walked towards her with a smile in the early autumn light.
Handsome and dashing, with an extraordinary air about him.
Yu Yao stood there, stunned.
Lu Ze naturally knew what she was looking at, so it was worth it for him to wake up early in the morning to shave and tidy up.
"Why are you just standing there like an idiot? Aren't you hungry?" Lu Ze teased her on purpose.
Yu Yao came to her senses and said, "I thought I was dreaming. I didn't expect you to really come back."
Lu Ze took her hand, rubbed it against his face, and asked her with a smile in his dark eyes, "How about this? Is it real?"
Yu Yao was caught off guard by his sudden move, her face flushed, and then she heard a few coughs.
She quickly pulled her hand back and looked back at the door. It was Grandpa Lu and Hu Lingyu who had just returned from their walk.
Good morning, Dad and Mom!
Lu Huiyun and Hu Lingyu greeted Yu Yao warmly, "Good morning, Zhizhi!"
Thinking about how her two elders had witnessed the scene, Yu Yao felt a little embarrassed and made an excuse to slip away, saying, "Mom and Dad, I'm going to wash up first."
As soon as she left, Old Master Lu was no longer so amiable. He looked at Lu Ze and said, "She's still pregnant, so you'd better be careful."
Tomorrow is Fang Qiaoqiao and Wu Huaiqing's wedding. Today, the shipyard's residential compound still needs help. After breakfast, Yu Yao went there with Lu Ze and the others.
She didn't need to do any of the preparation work, so Yu Yao just sat to the side eating snacks and occasionally offering suggestions.
After lunch, Yu Yao made an excuse to go home first. Before leaving, she told Lu Ze to go home early in the afternoon, saying that she had something for her.
She wanted to celebrate Lu Ze's birthday again.
The elders in the family saw it all. They were experienced and knew that the two of them wanted to spend time alone together. They didn't say anything, only telling Yu Yao to be careful.
In the evening, Lu Ze returned to the courtyard but did not see Yu Yao. He only found a note written by Yu Yao on the table in the main room.
"Go to the study first. My recent homework results are on the desk. I need Commander Lu to give me his feedback."
Lu Ze folded the note carefully and put it in his pocket.
As soon as he entered the bedroom, his gaze fell behind the curtains, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes. Pretending not to notice, he walked over and picked up the calligraphy practice book on the desk.
Beside the calligraphy copybook was a note left by Yu Yao: "There's a secret hidden in this copybook. Will Commander Lu, with his keen eyes, be able to discover it?"
