Lu Ze's cold and stern eyes softened with tenderness as he opened the calligraphy book.
The calligraphy practice book has more than ten pages, and you can see Yu Yao's progress, from being awkward and stiff at the beginning to becoming smoother and more fluent later on.
The two people's handwriting overlapped, as if their handwritings were intertwined.
Footsteps sounded behind him. Lu Ze's ears twitched, but he continued to look at the calligraphy in his hand without making a sound.
Yu Yao quietly walked to his side, tilted her head and asked with a smile, "Commander Lu, have you noticed anything amiss?"
Lu Ze frowned slightly and shook his head. "I didn't see anything. Your handwriting has improved a lot."
Yu Yao was clearly a little disappointed. She took the calligraphy copybook in disbelief, looked at her own little tricks, and muttered, "How could I not see it? I think it's so obvious."
"Lu Ze, take another look. Aren't these characters a little different?" Yu Yao pointedly handed the calligraphy copybook back to Lu Ze.
Lu Ze looked at her adorable expression of frustration, like a kitten scratching its cheek, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes, but his face remained calm. "Hmm, I'll take another look."
A moment later, Yu Yao blinked her peach blossom eyes expectantly, "Lu Ze, can you see any difference?"
Lu Ze nodded.
Yu Yao felt wonderful.
She suppressed a laugh, "Tell me, what are the differences?"
Lu Ze pointed seriously to a certain penmanship, "The strokes of these two characters are wrong." He continued to turn to another page, "And these characters, when you put pen to paper, don't hesitate, get it right in one stroke."
"..."
Yu Yao froze: "That's all you could see?"
Lu Ze raised an eyebrow, puzzled, and asked, "Is there anything else?"
Yu Yao pursed her lips, looked at Lu Ze, her face almost turning into a pufferfish with anger, "Lu Ze, you're such a blockhead."
After saying that, she turned around angrily and was about to walk outside.
Lu Ze pulled her back and hugged her from behind. "Are you angry?"
Yu Yao twisted her body, but couldn't break free, so she simply stopped trying to escape. Leaning against his chest, she mumbled, "No, I didn't."
Lu Ze turned her around, reached out and tucked the stray hairs behind her ear, then kissed her ear. As she flinched away because it tickled, he affectionately called her "Silly Yao."
Yu Yao looked up and glared at him, "I'm not stupid, you're the stupid one."
Lu Ze then smiled and lowered his head, looking intently into her eyes, "Ayao, me too."
"What?" Yu Yao didn't react for a moment and asked instinctively.
Lu Ze chuckled and whispered in her ear, "In life and in death, we made a vow. I will hold your hand and grow old with you."
“Ah Yao, me too.”
His voice was deep and magnetic, and his warm breath fell on her sensitive ear, sending a shiver down her spine.
Yu Yao wasn't really angry to begin with, but when she heard Lu Ze say that, she couldn't help but smile and gently punched his arm, "You deliberately teased me, didn't you find out the secret?"
Lu Ze took her hand, held it in his palm, and kissed it. "Old Lei said that I'm a dull person, so I should take the initiative to create some little waves, which is the fun between husband and wife. Now it seems that the effect is not very good."
Yu Yao: "No wonder Sister Mei Hua always said that Commander Lei liked to make her angry. So that's why. Don't listen to Commander Lei's nonsense in the future. I don't like that."
Lu Ze nodded: "I won't need it anymore."
After the two made up, they snuggled together looking at calligraphy samples, and Yu Yao asked him how he could tell.
Lu Ze said with a smile, "We used to use acrostic poems to convey messages during training in the past."
So he immediately recognized the acrostic poem she had hidden in the calligraphy book.
"In life and death, we made a vow. I will hold your hand and grow old with you."
This was her biggest feeling during the days when Lu Ze was away.
Without realizing it, Lu Ze had become so important to her.
She used to not believe in love, or rather, she didn't believe that love could last. She was afraid that after the passion faded, life would become a mess and they would become hateful to each other.
So she always restrained herself from falling into depravity or becoming dependent, so that she could leave at any time without getting hurt.
It was Lu Ze who used his patience and gentleness to open her heart and give her courage.
She still believes that the passion of love will fade with the passage of time, but she is no longer anxious about it.
She thought that if that person was Lu Ze, she was more afraid of regret than of getting hurt in the future.
"This is my first birthday present to you. Also, come with me." Yu Yao took Lu Ze's hand and walked towards the kitchen.
Upon entering the kitchen, Yu Yao placed a bowl of longevity noodles in front of Lu Ze. "Mom said that you must eat longevity noodles on your birthday, as it represents peace and longevity. This is what I made for you, so please try it."
The longevity noodles were curled up in the small bowl, there was only one long noodle.
A warm feeling rose in Lu Ze's heart. Under Yu Yao's expectant gaze, he finished the whole longevity noodle. "Delicious, I like it very much."
"If you like it, that's fine."
True love is never a one-person show, but a two-way journey.
On her birthday, Lu Ze prepared a birthday gift for her, and she was very happy.
Now, it's Lu Ze's birthday, and I prepared a gift for him. He's very happy, and I feel just as satisfied.
However, she prepared more than just these two gifts; there was another big surprise in store.
When Lu Ze asked, Yu Yao kept him in suspense for a moment, glancing at the sky outside.
The sun had long since disappeared below the horizon. Yu Yao glanced at her watch, smiled, and said to Lu Ze, "It's time. Let's go."
The beach was not far from the family compound. The sun was setting, the light was dim, and everyone else in the compound had gone home. Unless something was going on, the beach was practically deserted at this hour.
