A dozen minutes later, the delivery room door opened, and Yu Yao was pushed out by the nurses, with Nurse Huang following behind carrying two babies.
Everyone immediately gathered around, concerned about Yu Yao's condition.
Although Yu Yao looked tired, she was in good spirits. Seeing the worry in everyone's eyes, she smiled and said, "We're fine..."
Lu Ze held her hand tenderly and kissed her forehead. "Ayao, you've worked so hard."
He decided not to have any more children, as he didn't want his loved one to suffer like that again.
Yu Yao glanced at Lu Ze and noticed that he looked terrible. She softened and squeezed his hand back, "Lu Ze, don't worry, the baby and I are fine."
When the children were mentioned, everyone realized what was going on and turned to look at the two babies in Nurse Huang's arms.
Nurse Huang was both amused and exasperated. She had been standing there for ages, and her arms were getting sore from holding her sore. Finally, someone noticed her.
The nurse next to her couldn't help but chuckle.
Comrade Yu and Regiment Commander Lu's family are so lovely. They've delivered so many babies, but this is the first time everyone's attention has been focused on the mother, and they only remembered to look at the baby when the mother reminded them.
The two mothers took their children from Nurse Huang and asked, "Nurse Huang, which one is the older child and which one is the younger child?"
“This is Da Bao, the older brother.” Nurse Huang pointed to the baby in Wu Wanying’s arms, then pointed to the baby in Hu Lingyu’s arms, “This is Xiao Bao, the younger sister.”
Fang Qiaoqiao and Wu Huaiqing came over and curiously looked at the two babies.
"So cute, Da Bao's eyes are like A Yao's, and Xiao Bao's eyes are like Commander Lu's."
Hu Lingyu held Xiaobao in her arms, doting on her little granddaughter and teasing her, saying, "Xiaobao's nose looks like Zhizhi's, and her mouth looks like it too. She's so pretty."
Wu Wanying held her eldest child in her arms, looked at her youngest child, tears welling in her eyes, her face radiant with a gentle smile.
Cui Zhizhou also came over, looking at the two wrinkled little ones with a loving smile.
Lying in the hospital bed, Yu Yao smiled as she saw everyone so happy. "Lu Ze, aren't you going to go see the baby?"
Lu Ze stood beside her, holding her hand. "I saw it."
"You're standing so far away, is one glance enough?" Yu Yao asked, puzzled.
Even before the children were born, Lu Ze had already made the little rocking horses that his two children would play with, which shows how much he was looking forward to it.
But now that he's given birth, he's not excited anymore?
Do you think the baby is too ugly and don't like him/her?
To be honest, when she first saw the baby, all wrinkled and looking like a monkey, she felt a wave of dizziness. If she hadn't been the only woman left in the delivery room, she would have suspected that the baby had been switched.
Just as she was about to comfort Lu Ze with the words that parents don't mind their children's looks, she heard Lu Ze say, "Child, we can look at it later, no rush. I want to spend more time with you."
Yu Yao then realized what was going on.
It turns out that Lu Ze didn't dislike the child; rather, he cared more about himself than the child.
Yu Yao had just given birth and was exhausted and hungry, so she needed to rest. Her family, holding the baby, surrounded her as they returned to the ward.
Lu Ze picked up the chicken soup that Wu Wanying and Hu Lingyu had cooked while they were waiting, opened the rice bucket, tested the temperature, and then scooped a spoonful and fed it to Yu Yao.
"It's still hot, have some first."
Yu Yao's stomach was growling with hunger. She opened her mouth and took a sip with the spoon. "It smells so good, it tastes so good. I want more."
Seeing that she liked it, Lu Ze's eyes softened. "If you like it, drink more. Mom said she stewed a lot. I'll bring you some more at noon."
"good."
After finishing a large bowl of chicken soup, Yu Yao was no longer so hungry and felt sleepy. She yawned and said, "I'll save the rest for later. I'll take a nap before I drink it."
Lu Ze tucked the blanket around her, saying, "Go to sleep. I'll stay here and watch over you."
"Zhizhi, go to sleep. We'll take care of the rest," the others said.
Yu Yao glanced at the two children, relaxed, closed her eyes, and fell into a deep sleep in no time.
Seeing that she was covered in sweat, Lu Ze thought that since she couldn't take a bath, it would be good to wipe her down with a towel. A Yao loves cleanliness, and it would definitely be uncomfortable for her to sleep like this.
After consulting with both mothers, Lu Ze was allowed to use an enamel basin to mix hot water and wipe Yu Yao down.
After wiping her down, the two mothers and Cui Zhizhou stayed in the ward to take care of Yu Yao, while Lu Ze went to the communications room to report the good news to the old family home.
When the elder brothers and sisters-in-law of the Lu family heard that Yu Yao had given birth to twins, they were overjoyed. The old man immediately asked his eldest brother to help him buy tickets so that they could come and see his little grandchildren.
During this time, military families who were close to Yu Yao came to visit, put down their gifts, looked at the children, and left without wanting to disturb Yu Yao.
Yu Yao was unaware of all this and slept until the next morning.
Wu Wanying was alone in the ward, quietly playing with her two children. When she heard the noise and saw that Yu Yao had woken up, her face lit up with joy.
"Zhizhi, you're awake? Are you hungry? Mom made you some crucian carp and tofu soup."
Yu Yao nodded, sat up, and took the rice bucket from Wu Wanying and opened it.
The crucian carp soup was still hot, milky white and rich, looking very appetizing.
While drinking her soup, Yu Yao asked, "Mom, where are Lu Ze and the others?"
Wu Wanying rocked the crib and said, "Your dad went to work. Your mother-in-law went home to cook, she should be here in about half an hour. As for Lu Ze, I sent him home to rest."
At this point, Wu Wanying complained, "In the end, it's all your dad's fault. He insisted that Xiaobao looked like you when you were little, and somehow the conversation turned to you being taken away. Lu Ze was so worried that he stayed up all night, guarding you and Dabao and Xiaobao every step of the way."
