Zhou Yinhua never dreamed that Yu Yao would be the daughter of a prisoner in a cowshed.
These two were comprador capitalists who were overthrown.
Zhou Yinhua didn't know what a comprador capitalist was; she only knew that they were a class enemy who were even more serious than ordinary capitalists.
Given her background, the military would never allow her to be with Regiment Commander Lu.
It might even lead to their divorce.
The thought of divorce stirred a burning passion within Zhou Yinhua.
Yu Yao, just wait until you're packing your bags and getting out of here!
Zhou Yinhua looked around; apart from them, there was no one else around.
Yu Yao's identity must be made public; the more people who know, the better.
She looked at the elderly couple who were so anxious to find their daughter that they couldn't care about anything else, and gave what she thought was a gentle smile.
"Comrades, I actually know a woman who looks exactly like the person in the photo. She's a military dependent in our compound."
The elderly couple were overjoyed. "Could you please tell us how to find her?"
Zhou Yinhua and Zhou Yuju exchanged a smile, then looked at the two of them.
"Of course, no problem, I'll take you there right away."
"However, before we go to find her, I need to take you to see someone. Just tell her you're looking for your daughter, and she'll help you."
"This...is wonderful," the old man and woman exchanged a glance, too grateful to know what to say, "Thank you, comrade, thank you, comrade."
"No need to thank me. I can't stand seeing families torn apart, so I'll definitely help you reunite."
It would be best if they went into the cowshed together.
Seeing how happy they were, Zhou Yinhua's eyes flashed with a hint of mockery.
On the other side, Yu Yao and Lu Ze were taking out seafood.
The weather is hot on the island, and so much seafood can't be stored for long.
Yu Yao only planned to keep a small portion of each item to try, and sell the rest to the purchasing staff of the supply and marketing cooperative.
She plans to keep all five or six orchid crabs.
She planned to sell the other starfish and various snails, since there would definitely be more in the tide pool, so there was no need to keep them.
These two items are the most abundant; all kinds of snails, regardless of size, are purchased for five cents per pound.
Starfish are a bit more expensive, while Yuyao's are bigger and cost one cent per pound.
Other smaller animals can only sell for six or seven cents a pound.
After Lu Ze put the starfish down, the purchasing staff picked up the steelyard, moved the weight back a bit, and then stopped at seven or eight ounces.
"It's flat, I'll give you seven jin and eight liang. Starfish is seven mao and eight fen, snails are three mao and five fen, and grouper is two yuan and fifty cents, so I'll give you three yuan and sixty-three fen in total."
When Yu Yao heard the buyer include the grouper in the price list, she quickly said, "Comrade, I'm sorry, we need to keep this grouper. We'll only sell starfish and snails."
The buyer was surprised to hear this, "You're going to keep this rat-like creature to eat?"
The wives of the soldiers around them also cast curious glances their way.
This isn't just a few cents, it's two dollars and fifty cents! You're really generous.
To be honest, if they caught a grouper, they would also like to eat it, but they certainly wouldn't have the same courage as Comrade Yu Yao.
Yu Yao naturally felt the envious looks from those around her, but she didn't care.
This is such a fine wild grouper, and it was my first catch from beachcombing. It would be such a waste to sell it.
Yu Yao smiled and said to the purchasing agent, "Yes, comrade, we're not selling this grouper. It's rare to catch a grouper, so it'll be a good addition to our menu."
The buyer sighed, "Okay, I'll calculate the cost for you."
He can't force someone to sell if they don't want to.
He had planned to send this fish to his blind date, but it seems that the opportunity has passed.
"Without the rat spots, there wouldn't be this much money; it would be one dollar and three cents in total."
Yu Yao accepted the colorful bills and thanked the purchasing agent.
After saying goodbye to the other military wives, she and Lu Ze headed towards the tide pool.
"Who is this guy? He's so generous. He just takes a fish that costs 2.5 yuan and eats it without a second thought."
"Her husband was right there, and he didn't say anything to her? I've seen men who dote on their wives, but I've never seen one who does it this much. Why can't I meet such a good man?"
Yu Yao was unaware of the envy and admiration of the crowd.
She and Lu Ze had arrived at the previous tide pool.
Sun Yu and Ge Jinhua's buckets were filled with more seafood. When they saw Lu Ze arrive, they greeted him with smiles.
"Commander Lu, you've come at the right time. Your Comrade Yu is really amazing. She learned those beachcombing techniques after only being taught them once."
Lu Ze felt honored and looked at Yu Yao with deep affection and tenderness.
"She's naturally very smart. But I still want to thank her sister-in-law and aunt for patiently teaching her."
Yu Yao couldn't hide her joy at being praised by her lover and friends.
When Lu Ze arrived at the last tide pool, Yu Yao didn't go down; instead, she stayed on the shore to help hand things over.
Lu Ze took off his coat and went downstairs wearing only trousers and a vest.
Her perfectly proportioned figure, with its nine-head-to-body ratio, is accentuated by the tank top and trousers, making her appear even more ascetic.
As dawn broke, the orange-red glow of the sunrise shone behind him.
Those beautifully sculpted muscles, perfectly proportioned pectoral muscles, and a pert, shapely bottom when bending over.
Yu Yao blushed and quietly looked away, fanning herself with her palm.
"If you're hot, you can wait for me under that tree over there."
Yu Yao realized what was happening and denied it.
"I'm not hot, it's okay. Do you need a bucket? Here you go!"
Seeing her blushing face and the way she avoided looking at him, Lu Ze glanced down at himself and seemed to understand something.
A hint of a smile flashed in his eyes.
Seeing the smile in his eyes, Yu Yao blushed even more and said, "I know I'm pretty, but you'd better not look. There's a big horseshoe snail over there."
