"Nonsense." Yu Yao's chest heaved; she was angry for the first time.
Perhaps she was somewhat surprised by the arrival of her child at first. But over the past few months, witnessing the little life growing inside her, her maternal love has flowed like a never-ending spring.
This is her treasure, and she will not allow anyone to slander it.
Seeing Yu Yao so angry, Su Meihua was also furious. "We all know you're not that kind of person. People who spread these rumors have bad intentions."
Yu Yao's eyes turned cold as she asked Su Meihua, "Sister-in-law Meihua, do you know where this rumor came from?"
"I, I..." Su Meihua said somewhat embarrassedly, "I heard it when I was in the public restroom. I got up immediately as soon as I heard it. Well, I squatted for too long and my legs went numb, so I couldn't get up for a while. By the time I finished fastening my belt and came out, the person was already gone."
So she didn't know who spread the message.
"However, I remember that voice. It sounds familiar. I'm sure I've heard it before, but I just can't remember it right now."
Su Meihua looked guilty. "I'm sorry, Yu Yao, it's all my fault. If I hadn't squatted there for so long and gotten up earlier, I might have been able to see who said it."

Yu Yao patted her shoulder gently to comfort her, "There's no smoke without fire. Since it's just a rumor, we can always find the person who first spread it by following the clues."
"Yu Yao, I've got an idea! I know where to catch the person spreading this kind of talk. I guarantee I'll help you catch them," Su Meihua assured her confidently.
Yu Yao was about to ask where she was when she heard Aunt Miao from Su Meihua's house calling her.
Su Meihua glanced at the sky. "Yu Yao, there's no use going there now. I'll come find you after dinner tonight and take you there."
Yu Yao thought for a moment and nodded, "That works too."
After making the appointment, Yu Yao and Su Meihua went back to their respective homes.
When Wu Wanying and Hu Lingyu saw her return, they asked with concern, "What happened to Meihua? Do you need any help?"
Yu Yao didn't hide anything and told her two mothers the rumors that Su Meihua had heard.
The two mothers were even more furious than she was.
How could the two mothers not be furious?
Their precious daughters/daughters-in-law, whom they cherished dearly, were unfairly labeled as immoral women.
Even their beloved child, whom they had cherished for so long, was portrayed as an unwanted bastard by this kind of gossip.
Anyone would be angry in this situation.
Hu Lingyu used to be a member of the Iron Girls team and had a bad temper, but now that she's older, she's much more restrained.
Upon hearing this, she became so angry that she couldn't hold back and immediately started cursing.
"Who's talking nonsense, daring to spread rumors about our family? If we don't teach this guy a lesson, he won't know how many eyes the Lord of the Horse has."
Hu Lingyu's reaction startled both Yu Yao and Wu Wanying, as neither of them knew that Hu Lingyu had this side to her.
Hu Lingyu's chest heaved as she looked around, then picked up the rolling pin from the table and said to Yu Yao, "Yu Yao, who said that? Tell your mother, and I'll go and settle the score with her."
Yu Yao snapped out of her daze and quickly stopped her, "Mom, don't be angry. Sister-in-law Meihua said she'll take me to catch someone after dinner tonight."
“Yes, mother-in-law.” Wu Wanying walked over and saw the rolling pin waving in Hu Lingyu’s hand. “Don’t worry about the rolling pin. Just don’t strain your back later.”
Hearing their conversation, Hu Lingyu put the rolling pin on the table, took a few deep breaths, but her breath still felt bad.
"If I find out which foul-mouthed person said that about you, I'll beat them to a pulp."
Seeing her like this, Yu Yao and Wu Wanying's anger subsided somewhat.
After calming down, the three began to discuss countermeasures.
“We must find this person,” Wu Wanying said. “If this gets out, it will affect Zhizhi and Lu Ze’s career development in the military.”
Hu Lingyu calmed down and said, "My mother-in-law is right. It takes only a mouth to spread rumors, but it takes a lot of legwork to refute them. After we find out who is behind this, we must make them explain clearly and not let the rumors continue to spread."
Yu Yao nodded, "I understand, I definitely won't let it go easily."

After dinner, Su Meihua came over to find Yu Yao with a woven basket and a change of clothes. "Aunt Wu, Aunt Hu, are you drying fish? Where's Yu Yao?"
"It's plum blossom. Wait a minute, Zhizhi is sleeping. I'll go wake her." Wu Wanying wiped her hands and went inside to call Yu Yao.
Seeing that Hu Lingyu was struggling to manage on her own, Su Meihua went over to lend a hand.
While turning over the dried fish, Hu Lingyu thanked Su Meihua, "Meihua, we heard about the rumors from Yu Yao. Thank you for telling us this."
Su Meihua: "Auntie, you're too kind. Yu Yao is my friend. If I didn't know, I could let it go. But now that I know, I definitely can't let Yu Yao be kept in the dark."
Just as Hu Lingyu was about to say something, she saw Yu Yao come out. "Don't rush off yet. It's hot today, so my mother-in-law and I made chicken poop vine cakes and brown sugar glutinous rice balls. Have some before you go, so you don't get heatstroke."
Yu Yao gets hungry very easily now. Even though she just finished eating and rested for a while, she gets hungry again.
She looked at Su Meihua, "Sister-in-law Meihua, won't it be too late if we finish drinking before we go?"
Su Meihua glanced at the sky. "It's alright, there's still plenty of time. We can finish our drinks before leaving, and we won't have to wait."
Hu Lingyu made the final decision, "Then drink a bowl before you leave."
Seeing that Yu Yao hadn't brought any change of clothes, Su Meihua told her to bring a change of clothes.
Yu Yao was about to go back to her room to tidy up when Wu Wanying stopped her, saying, "You and Meihua go to the main room, I'll help you tidy up."
