The Xiang family had no idea what was happening in the Xian family as they were busy with Xiang Lihua's wedding arrangements.
On the afternoon before the wedding, Xiang Tiezhu rushed to the county town with his wife, exhausted, saying they were there to help.
Over the past six months, thanks to Xiang Liwei's help in getting things done, the relationship between Xiang Hongqi and Xiang Tiezhu has improved a lot, and the two brothers often interact with each other.
Even though Xiang Hongqi published an announcement in the newspaper to break off the relationship, Xiang Tiezhu was disappointed for a while, but he still came to the county town with his bag on his back.
On the way, he cheerfully told his wife Yuan Huimei: "My second brother must have had some reasons. We have been together for so many years, so he must have had his reasons for suddenly breaking off the relationship."
Yuan Huimei was holding her youngest son Xiang Lizheng, with Xiang Miaomiao sitting next to him. The whole family came to attend her cousin's wedding to meet people.
The eldest daughter Xiang Juanjuan was pregnant and could not travel, but she still gave a gift.
Xiang Liwei was teaching in the county town, so he didn't have to travel with them from Xiangjia Village.
Yuan Huimei listened to her husband's words and nodded in agreement: "Even during those years when we didn't have enough to eat, we still received alimony. It's obvious. Let's go back and ask."
The family of four dressed up and rushed to Xiang's house to give gifts.
When they arrived, Zhang Jidi had gone to the neighbor's house to borrow tables, chairs and benches, while Xiang Hongqi, Xiang Lihua and Xiang Mianmian were at home.
Xiang Hongqi saw his younger brother coming over and took the initiative to greet him, his words a little timid: "Tiezhu, sister-in-law, you are here? Is this Miaomiao and Lizheng?"
After their relationship improved, the two brothers were used to discussing things with each other, so it was a bit unexpected that they suddenly announced the severance of their relationship in the newspaper.
Fortunately, Xiang Tiezhu had no intention of questioning him in front of so many people. He took the two children in his arms and said, "Come on, call me uncle and congratulate your cousin on his wedding. May you have a long and happy marriage."
The two children were a little timid. They called out to their second uncle whom they had met a few times, and said auspicious words of congratulations to their cousin Xiang Lihua.
Although the brother and sister were not familiar with their uncle's family, they still remained polite on the surface.
Don't worry too much about happy occasions. Thanks to Xiang Hongqi's efforts, the family finally called each other by their names and seemed more affectionate.
Just when the atmosphere was a little awkward, Xiang Tiezhu saw Zhang Jidi coming back and greeted her with his wife and children.
Seeing Xiang Hongqi looking embarrassed beside him, Zhang Jidi could only raise a polite smile and say, "My uncle is here. Let's stay and have dinner together tonight."
She had originally only invited her eldest sister Zhang Aihua, but since Xiang Tiezhu had already come, she felt it would be inappropriate to chase him away.
This brother-in-law offered to help when the family was divided that year. He is still quite sober and has not done anything weird recently. She just took it as a favor to give her husband some face.
Xiang Tiezhu was actually afraid that his sister-in-law would reject him mercilessly, just like the last time he attended his eldest nephew Xiang Liguo's wedding, the gift money was returned and the person was driven away.
When Xiang Lidang got married for the second time, Xiang Tiezhu sent gifts again, but people didn't dare to come. Unfortunately, the gift money was returned intact.
He had been feeling nervous during this trip and was very happy to hear what Zhang Jidi said.
Although the Xiang family does not have many relatives, fortunately the couple has been together for so many years and has many co-workers and neighbors, so there is no need to worry about the liveliness of the wedding the next day.
After greeting his uncle, Zhang Jidi has been busy at home preparing tomorrow's dishes and water.
The official wedding is tomorrow, so Xiang Hongqi and his wife naturally have to take leave to prepare some banquet supplies. The only people at home are Xiang Mianmian, who has not yet gone to work, and Xiang Lihua, who is about to get married.
The other children are still working, and even Anyou, who is nearly seven months pregnant, is still staying at her post.
Xiang Mianmian looked at her 12-year-old cousin Xiang Miaomiao and 6-year-old cousin Xiang Lizheng with some curiosity. It was the first time she saw these two children.
It was also the first time for the two children to meet their cousins. They felt a little unfamiliar but full of curiosity.
Just as Xiang Mianmian was about to ask, Xiang Lihua took action first. He said to his cousin Xiang Lizheng, "Are you the only one who says 'Stand at attention'? Is there anyone else who says 'At ease'?"
This brother is really...
Xiang Mianmian held her forehead and quickly tried to comfort the bewildered Xiang Lizheng: "Don't worry about him, cousin. He's always been out of tune. Are you in school now?"
Xiang Lizheng was about to answer when Xiang Lihua picked him up and said, "Stand at attention! Why don't you join the army? When the squad leader yells 'Attention', you'll just yell 'Here!'"
During the training, the squad leader shouted "Attention", and the next sentence was "At ease", but he ended up shouting "Attention".
Just thinking about that scene makes me feel funny. Xiang Lihua hugged his cousin and laughed so hard that his teeth were showing.
He actually used someone else's name to make fun of her. Xiang Mianmian quickly clapped his hands and said, "Put your cousin down. If you make trouble again, I'll complain to Mom!"
This trump card is still useful. Xiang Lihua immediately retracted his smile with his teeth bared and put his cousin down reluctantly.
He complained, "You're already an adult, and you still go to your mother to complain. Mianmian, you're becoming less lovable the older you get."
