0017 Silent Words (3)
Bai Tijiang was giving Shen Yan basic first aid, while Du Fenfang and He Lingling stood outside the room.
Lingling's impression of Du Fenfang was still that of her "tomboyish" hair and her always carefree personality from high school. So when she saw that Du Fenfang had grown her hair to shoulder length and had red eyes, she felt that she was a completely different person.
Most importantly, she had no idea when Fenfang had become so close to Brother Ayan...
The situation was urgent just now, and the two didn't have much time to talk. Now that they have some free time, they don't know where to begin.
She felt a lump in her throat as she looked at Fenfang's worried gaze that never left Shenyan.
Yes, she had been away from D province for so many years and had very little contact with her brother, Ayan. And Ayan was almost thirty years old; it was normal for him to be in a relationship... She didn't restrict Ayan's freedom, but waves of pain kept washing over her.
Bai Tijiang interrupted the group, each lost in their own thoughts. He was busy, so he quickly gave them a few brief instructions and left. Lingling thanked him, and he gave her a meaningful look for a few seconds, but said nothing.
Although He Lingling was curious about who had asked this kind doctor for help, Bai Tijiang had left in such a hurry that she didn't feel comfortable asking. She was busy going to see Shen Yan, but then she saw Du Fenfang, who had gone in before her, hugging him and seemingly crying.
Her hand, which was pushing the door, paused for a moment, and she gave up.
Guan Kai, who was standing nearby, noticed her odd behavior and tried to cheer her up: "Teacher He, could this be your sweetheart?"
He Lingling seemed startled by these words and hurriedly said, "Don't talk nonsense," but her face showed complete panic at being exposed.
"It's not the best, I'm still waiting to pursue you."
He Lingling was completely helpless against the young man in front of her who would "tease" her every now and then, but she knew he was trying to comfort her. She chuckled coldly a few times to indicate that the joke was meaningless.
Guan Kai, however, was amused by her cute and quirky antics and burst into laughter.
Du Fenfang pushed Shen Yan out and overheard their conversation clearly. She saw Shen Yan's face darken, and her heart turned cold as well.
Guan Kai took the group to a mid-range hotel near the hospital, said goodbye to Lingling, and then left.
Lingling and Fenfang helped Shenyan get to his room to rest. Lingling's expression changed when she saw the words "double room" on the reservation information.
Du Fenfang swiped the room card, and Lingling pushed Chen Yan inside. The room wasn't very big, but it was clean and convenient. There were two beds directly opposite the door.
Lingling wanted to help Chen Yan to bed, but Du Fenfang intervened as soon as she touched his arm, saying, "I'll do it."
With deft movements, she lifted Shen Yan onto the bed. Although Fenfang wasn't short, she was still a girl, and it took her quite a bit of effort to carry the 1.85-meter-tall Shen Yan. But looking at the two people in front of her, whose movements were practiced and coordinated perfectly, Lingling knew very well that Fenfang often took care of him like this.
There were so many things she wanted to know, so many questions she wanted to ask, but she knew she couldn't say them in front of Brother Ayan.
Her heart was filled with bitterness. She knew better than anyone that she was the one who would leave first, and that she was the one who had always had someone else by her side. But looking at Fenfang and Shenyan, who acted like lovers of many years, she felt a churning pain in her heart.
Fenfang covered Shenyan with a blanket, telling him to rest well, and said she would bring him food later... He Lingling could hardly listen anymore. She turned her back, hiding her smile that she could no longer maintain, and did not see the pained look in Shenyan's eyes that remained fixed on her.
Fenfang stepped forward, took her arm, and said with a smile, "Lingling, I'll treat you to dinner."
Lingling's original intention was to just grab a quick bite downstairs, but Fenfang seemed afraid of neglecting her and insisted on taking her to a not-so-cheap Western restaurant. They only ordered a few dishes, and the bill was already close to a thousand.
Lingling hurriedly said, "We can't finish it all," but Fenfang's gloomy expression vanished: "You know I have a big appetite."
Lingling had no choice but to let her do as she pleased.
Unlike when she was next to Shen Yan, Du Fenfang, sitting in front of He Lingling, was almost still the same "tomboy" from J City No. 1 High School. She dragged Lingling through her memories from the first year of high school to graduation, recounting all the embarrassing stories of her classmates and teachers.
Lingling was also infected by her smile and cheerfulness, and chatted with her at length, as if she could still touch those fleeting and irretrievable happy days.
The two of them managed to make the restaurant turn heads as they ate their Western meal.
This allowed Lingling to temporarily put aside those questions she wanted to ask but dared not.
But it was a topic that couldn't be avoided. When the last dessert was served, Fenfang spoke first.
"Lingling, you're still with Chen Yixu, right?" Her voice held a cautious probing tone, and seemed to carry a hint of expectation.
The serene smile froze on her face, the silver spoon in her hand stopped, and in the center of the restaurant, Croatian Rhapsody leaped from the pianist's fingers.
Even if she didn't want to admit it, she could never escape that person's control.
She mustered a great deal of courage and nodded gently.
Fenfang, who was sitting opposite her, stepped across the table and reached out to hold her hand on the table.
She could feel Fenfang's joy even without seeing her.
Fenfang seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
She said, "That's good... Lingling, Teacher Shen and I are getting married."
He Lingling suddenly raised her head. The light in Fenfang's eyes was so dazzling that she could no longer suppress any of her emotions at that moment.
