0031 Wedding Events (2)

As the semester draws to a close, students at B City Normal University are entering their final month of the semester.

The elective course ended early, and He Lingling's assessment method was to submit a paper, so there wasn't much of a rush. However, she had been busy publishing papers and also had to squeeze in time to find a job for Shen Yan, so her days were not very leisurely.

Shen Yan stayed in City B and moved from the hotel to a temporary rental apartment. He Lingling went to see it; the apartment was on the first floor, which was convenient, and it was spacious and bright, but the location and appearance didn't look cheap. Shen Yan told her not to worry, saying that he had met the landlord by chance, so the rent was cheaper.

He Lingling received a text message from Fenfang, informing her that she was flying back to J City and hoped she could take good care of Shenyan. He Lingling rushed to the airport but still missed Fenfang. She felt guilty and sad. Although she didn't know about the relationship between Fenfang and Shenyan's brother over the years, she secretly felt she owed Fenfang an apology. It's alright; they both need time to sort out their inner turmoil. When they can face each other openly, the past will either resurface or be left behind forever.

After Fenfang left, Lingling planned to find another nanny to take care of Shen Yan's daily life. However, Shen Yan told her that he could live a normal life on his own, and that his landlord lived very close by and took good care of him, so life wasn't too difficult. She wanted to insist, but her brother Shen Yan just smiled and shook his head, so she could only say "okay".

Her desire to do something for Brother Ayan seemed to be forever unfulfilled; she wondered if Brother Ayan was resisting her.

Shen Yan casually told her that he wanted to try to get a master's degree at the National Taiwan Normal University, thinking that improving his academic qualifications might make it easier for him to work there.

He Lingling slapped her forehead and scolded herself for not thinking of that. Teaching at the Normal University would also make it easier for her to help her brother Ayan with his exams. Ayan's idea was right; improving his qualifications first was faster and more effective than knocking on doors one by one with a thin resume.

She switched from job search websites to graduate school admission websites and began helping Shen Yan organize her graduate school entrance exam materials.

It seems like everything is back on track.

She ran into Guan Kai a few more times on the campus of the Normal University.

Because of the help Guan Kai had given her before, her impression of the boy had improved considerably. So, she took the initiative to greet him on the next few occasions they met, and they even had lunch together at school once.

Just like when they first met, Guan Kai had a very outgoing personality, and perhaps because He Lingling was too young, he didn't have the restraint and respect that a student would show to a teacher when facing He Lingling. Instead, he treated her like an ordinary friend.

During their conversation, she learned that Guan Kai had two older brothers. His eldest brother was much older than him, very serious, and strict with him. However, He Lingling could tell that he had a good relationship with his second brother, because his face lit up when he talked about him. He said his second brother had gone to a very far place and hadn't been home for several years, but recently he said he was coming back…

Seeing his undisguised joy, He Lingling smiled and said "Congratulations," adding that she hoped to have the opportunity to meet them.

Guan Kai paused for a moment, then nodded.

During the conversation, he picked out the ginger slices and scallions from the dish. He Lingling noticed that he hadn't touched much of the food in front of him, as if he didn't often eat at school.

"These cooks are so careless with their cooking; they don't even pick out the seasonings," Guan Kai said, frowning.

The disdain in his words contrasted sharply with the warm and sunny boy he had just been, and He Lingling was taken aback.

But he quickly reverted to his usual cheeky self: "Am I being too picky with Teacher He?"

He Lingling smiled and shook her head, then lowered her head and picked up a bite of food.

Guan Kai laughed and said, "There's nothing I can do about it. My family makes this kind of business, so our tastes are inevitably a bit picky."

He Lingling secretly realized that Guan Kai's attire and appearance did not indicate an ordinary family background; it turned out he was in the catering industry.

That day, he hurriedly said goodbye, saying he was going to pick up his second brother to go home. He Lingling told him to be careful.

Time flies, and winter is just around the corner.

Zhao Xiaojing successfully went on a blind date and is now passionately dating.

He Lingling sighed inwardly, realizing that women with good fortune in love were indeed different. She watched as her colleague became more refined, radiating youthful energy and a healthy glow every day. Moreover, it was obvious that Zhao Xiaojing's boyfriend was indeed wealthy; in just this week, He Lingling had seen her carry two limited-edition Hermes bags and a classic LV.

Zhao Xiaojing said she was dating him with marriage in mind, and even if it didn't work out in the end, she still wanted to take advantage of him now.

She's willing to offer her body to a man who hasn't given her any real guarantees. What's wrong with spending some of his money?

He Lingling laughed for a long time after hearing her words. The words were crude but the meaning was true. Love is all about mutual consent. The two of them are happy, so what right does she, an outsider, have to say anything?

Because she started dating a rich boyfriend, Zhao Xiaojing brought more gossip to the office every day. He Lingling thought that her boyfriend was not only rich, but also had some kind of background. Adding fuel to the fire, Zhao Xiaojing's stories always elicited either bursts of laughter or deep sighs from everyone.

Or perhaps it's a model entrepreneur who presents himself as a good husband and father in public but secretly keeps several mistresses, or a seemingly tough guy who is actually a gay man who spends his days in gay bars, or the one below.

Sometimes they would talk about people in the system, and He Lingling would just say "Hey" twice to remind her to be careful, because there are plenty of backstabbing and intrigue in universities too.

Zhao Xiaojing also realized that her loose tongue could easily cause her trouble. She smiled and kissed He Lingling on the cheek: "You're still the best to me."

He Lingling called out to her, "Get off, get off!" The two of them started arguing.

That day, Zhao Xiaojing brought her juicy gossip to the office again.

He Lingling couldn't help but shake her head with a smile when she saw Zhao Xiaojing's mysterious look, but she didn't expect that Zhao Xiaojing's "gossip" today would also make her concentrate.

They still wanted to talk about people and things that shouldn't be said, and not just any ordinary cadre, but a high-ranking official whose name had to be mentioned in a roundabout way. But Zhao Xiaojing, though mysterious, wasn't afraid of being overheard by anyone.

It wasn't anything shameful; it was actually good news, and it would be revealed to the public sooner or later. She just knew about it earlier for certain reasons.

It is said that two families are planning to form a marriage alliance.

Someone asked with a smile who it was.

Zhao Xiaojing shook her head mysteriously, but couldn't withstand everyone's persistent questioning.

She took a leisurely sip of water: "Add an extra zero after the thousand."

A thousand followed by multiple zeros, that's ten thousand!

Everyone looked like they understood; the person with that surname was indeed that one.

He Lingling paused in her writing, overhearing whispers around her: "I knew about the relationship between these two families," "She's the only one who gets to show her face," "She's actually been in the spotlight for a while now," "I heard the woman just returned from abroad, and the two families had a falling out before..."

After the patriarch, most of the Wan family's descendants went into politics, with only one going into business.

There's only one person who gets to show their face and be the subject of much discussion.

He Lingling recalled that cold yet beautiful face that frequently appeared in business magazines and on television.

The image of that pretty red figure I saw in the underground parking garage a month ago, along with the lip print on his face, flashed through my mind.

Something seemed to have suddenly become clear to her.

Why did this one-year agreement suddenly come about? Why have I raised her like a house sparrow for so many years?

It turns out he had a marriage contract that the whole world knew about, but she was kept in the dark.

She felt all the warmth in her body disappear. Zhao Xiaojing saw that her face had become very pale and quickly called to her.

It took He Lingling a long time to come to her senses.

P.S.: You guys haven't forgotten Sophie, have you? She's the one who kissed Ze in the garage and was seen by Lingling. Oh, and she also mentioned that Dr. Bai has premature ejaculation...

Can you guess who she is?
