0052 Birthday (1)
The speed wasn't too low, but it was very smooth.
He Lingling sat in the back seat with Wan Qifuze, her hand being tightly gripped by Wan Qifuze.
The car was very warm, but his palms were cold.
He Lingling tried to pull herself up, but she was no match for his strength.
She didn't want to argue with him in the car. The driver was right in front, and even though she knew that all his men were tight-lipped and handled things properly, she still didn't want others to see their conflict.
But he was too domineering; he squeezed so hard that her hands turned red.
Unable to move, she glared at him.
But Wanqi Fuze didn't even look at her. His eyes were deep, and the mole at the corner of his eye shimmered in the dim light. She couldn't understand the emotions in his eyes, but she could sense that he... was very angry.
The bracelet on her wrist got stuck between her large and small hands. As the car moved, the driver stepped on the brakes, but he used too much force and lost his balance. The bracelet pressed against Lingling's wrist, leaving a red mark.
With a soft hiss, Wanqi Fuze snapped back to his senses.
He quickly let go of her hand, then grabbed it again to look at it.
Lingling took the opportunity to pull her hand away, then sat down to the side, creating some distance between them.
Wanqi Fuze's eyes darkened again at her actions. He knew he hadn't controlled his emotions well today, but Guan Kai's behavior had made it impossible for him to control himself.
He dared to drive his car into He Lingling in broad daylight, and despite having so many people around her, none of them seemed to care and did anything to protect her.
If he didn't want to make her unhappy anymore, he really wanted to lock her up in Songhan Residence, where no one would be able to touch her in the slightest...
"What is your relationship with Guan Kai?" a probing voice interrupted him.
Seven years ago, Wanqi Fuze sent Guan Yue to bump into Brother Ayan. Guan Kai is Guan Yue's younger brother. Logically speaking, Guan Kai and Wanqi Fuze must know each other and have an unusual relationship.
But upon seeing him today, she discovered that Guan Kai's words and actions showed great disdain and hostility towards Wan Qifuze.
He Lingling couldn't help but ask him the reason, even though she knew that her behavior was testing the limits of what was right.
Wanqi Fuze didn't reply to her for a long time. Just when she thought she wouldn't get a response, she heard him say in a cold tone, "It has nothing to do with you."
She felt a surge of anger rising within her. What did they mean by saying it had nothing to do with her? The murderer's brother had found her and her brother Ayan's location again after many years, and the culprit was now in the same train carriage as her.
She chuckled and retorted sarcastically, "Yes, none of you are good people anyway."
These words instantly angered the person next to him. He turned around, grabbed her hand, glared at her, and his voice was noticeably louder than before, but for some reason it sounded a little hoarse.
"Knowing he's not a good person, you still dared to get into his car! Do you even know what I mean..."
His sudden anger startled He Lingling, and she shrank back. Wan Qifuze saw this and her momentum inexplicably weakened.
Lingling looked at him directly and felt that he had suddenly taken a deep breath and then relaxed. Only at this close distance could she see that there was damp sweat on his forehead and his face was extremely pale.
For some reason, she also felt a little uncomfortable, but she still stubbornly said, "You're not a good person either."
She glanced away from him, but could still feel his warm, moist breath on her face.
He loosened his grip a little because of her words, but he still didn't let go completely.
After a long pause, he softly said, "...but I won't hurt you."
His voice clearly betrayed his vulnerability, and Lingling's heart skipped a beat at those words. She tried to turn back to look at him, but he had already sat far away.
The two were separated again.
Even though they are only a stone's throw away, they feel as distant and far apart as the ends of the earth.
The temperature inside the car slowly rose; the driver must have turned it up a bit. She turned to look out the window beside her; the sky was gradually darkening.
There were clearly three people in the car, yet it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
After a long while, I heard someone say from ahead, "Should we take you to the hospital?"
He Lingling's heart tightened; it was obvious who she was being asked.
She recalled his pale face and the cold sweat on his forehead. Could he be ill?
Reluctant to turn around, I could only glance at the reflection on the window.
But he was in the dark and couldn't see anything.
She suddenly became anxious for no reason, but she couldn't show it on her face.
Just as she was about to succumb to her emotions, she heard two words from beside her.
"go home."
The car continued driving towards Songhan Residence, and it wasn't until they entered that she secretly caught a glimpse of his face as he walked inside.
He seemed much better than he had been in the car. My heart, for some reason, calmed down.
It's only when you lie down late at night, when everyone around you is breathing steadily, that you suddenly remember his words.
--go home.
The two words seemed to possess a warmth.
So, in his heart, Songhan Residence was actually...home?
