“Bunir and his men are on a mountain peak to the east. They managed to snag a small, unfinished mission there, so they’re definitely still here today working on it!” The next morning, as they traversed the mountains, Bunir told the group.
"Damn! They can still get missions to pick up at a time like this? Their luck is too good!" Harold said indignantly. They had worked themselves to the bone and had only completed two missions so far, one of which was against a fourth-tier dragon.
"Who can predict luck?" Churchill shrugged helplessly. Not getting any missions was just bad luck, wasn't it? Whose fault was it?
“Actually, we were pretty lucky. They helped us finish the task, and then we got the points. Wasn’t that easier? In the end, we were just lucky!” Catherine said, putting herself in their shoes. The others were stunned.
"Well, that makes a lot of sense. Suddenly I feel like we're pretty lucky," Harold said with a self-satisfied air, as if he had truly become the chosen one.
“What the girl says makes sense!” Catherine said, tilting her head back with a confident air.
Bunir's location wasn't far, but it was quite well hidden. If Churchill hadn't been skilled at tracking, it wouldn't have been so easy to find him. It was precisely this kind of place that allowed Bunir to find a mission location that hadn't been discovered yet.
The task wasn't too difficult, just a bit tedious, requiring a lot of running around, but it offered a reward of 150 points, which was higher than the reward Harold and his friends received for completing the task on the first day.
Therefore, when he accidentally discovered this mission, Bu Nier immediately perked up. He had been held back by the Frozen Pool Dragon, which had resulted in a low score. Now that he finally had a mission, even if he didn't get a top ranking, at least his score wouldn't be too bad.
Unbeknownst to Bunir, who was diligently carrying out his mission, his old rival had already led his men up the mountain, waiting for him to complete the task so they could wipe him out in one fell swoop.
"There aren't many people. It seems like there are only about three people coming and going?" Harold led his men, hiding on another hilltop, watching the situation from a distance of not far from Taiyuan.
Churchill also discovered this hilltop, which offers a general view of the opposite mountain peak, but there's nothing else there, not even a single monster.
“Isn’t it perfect that there are fewer people? It’ll be easier to take them down!” Catherine said with a hint of excitement.
“That’s true, but what exactly is their mission, running up and down this mountain? It seems a bit of a hassle,” Harold asked, looking at the opposite mountain peak with a puzzled expression.
"I don't know, it seems to be a delivery task. Didn't some other classmates mention it before? He encountered a delivery task, and although the points were okay, he ran back and forth for two days and almost died of exhaustion!" Sarah said after thinking for a moment.
"That's really... tough on him!" Harold swallowed hard. Running back and forth for two days at this rate? He'd be exhausted.
"It really is hard work!" Blackie nodded silently, feeling sorry for Bonier. He had worked so hard for two days, only to have it all go to waste for someone else. But then he thought about how he was the one who had done it, and he felt quite pleased with himself.
"Alright, it's the last day. Let's have a good meal, then go find Bunir to get the points, and then we can go back!" Harold led everyone to the other side of the mountain without any politeness, took out the dragon meat from before, roasted it, and started eating.
It was past noon, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, this should be their last meal in the mountains. After the sun sets, the bracelet will automatically activate, bringing everyone back to school.
Even after lunch, Harold and the others didn't rush over. Instead, they took turns keeping an eye on the progress of the mission on the other side and took a peaceful nap.
After everyone had rested and recuperated, they stretched and rushed towards the opposite hilltop.
At this moment, Bunir and the others had just completed their mission and were discussing the distribution of points. There were only 150 points in total. Bunir wanted to take all of them to try and get a good ranking, but this would inevitably infringe on the interests of the other two. After all, there were only so many points in total, and even if they were all given to Bunir, it wouldn't necessarily put him on the list. It would be better for everyone to share them equally.
Therefore, Bunier argued with the two of them. He wanted to keep all the points for himself and dreamed of climbing the rankings, but the other two were unwilling to go back with zero points.
"Speaking of which, if we wait a little longer, won't they start fighting amongst themselves?" Hidden behind a rock, Houndoom asked Harold and the others with a puzzled look. None of them expected that the other side would start fighting amongst themselves before they even arrived.
“We can’t wait any longer. Who knows how long they’ll keep arguing? It’ll be dark by then. This is perfect. We’ll just go over there in our invisibility cloaks and knock them down with a brick!” Catherine said excitedly, draping the invisibility cloak over Harold and handing him a red brick.
"No? Where did you get these bricks?" Harold stared at the red brick in his hand, stunned. Judging from its condition, it must have been just made.
“Who am I? I’m the princess of the Aini people, the sister of the lord of New Aini City. I have to keep an eye on some city construction, you know? Bricks are the main building material of the city, so what’s wrong with me taking a few to check them? Enough nonsense, hurry up and go!” Catherine said matter-of-factly, not giving Harold a chance to ask any more questions, and pushed him out directly.
Harold had no choice but to don his invisibility cloak and carefully approach the other party, clutching a brick.
Wizards have very keen senses, and even if they are wearing an invisibility cloak, they can still be detected if they get close. Fortunately, Bunir was arguing with two other people at the time, which greatly reduced the possibility of discovering Harold.
At this point, for Harold and the others, it was no longer a matter of directly eliminating Bunier, but rather how to take him down with a single brick. They couldn't afford to waste the red brick that Catherine had handed them, could they?
As Harold drew closer, the five of them were on tenterhooks. Catherine, in particular, was so excited that her face turned bright red, wishing she were the one to smash him with a brick.
"Bang!" Finally, amidst everyone's expectant gazes, Harold slammed the brick down with a loud "bang."
Bunier's incessant chatter abruptly stopped as he collapsed to the ground, startling the other two, who quickly realized someone had arrived.
"Hello!" Harold pulled off his invisibility cloak and waved at the two of them.
P.S.: Happy New Year everyone! Did you achieve all the goals you set last year?
